I've got jack and shit for this challenge, and my schedule is going to be all over the place in this next month.

So .... continuing on with my goals for the most part, coasting, and thinking about what I want to focus on this year.

Last year was the year of bling; this year, since my location is still uncertain, I won't be doing that so much.

The List So Far

  • Quit my job
  • Finish my front end web development class
  • Find a new job

While unemployed:

  • Work to better my blog's social media
  • Re-vamp the blog
  • Re-do my website
  • Spiff up my resume
  • Spiff up my portfolio
  • Possibly see a career coach to help turn my resume into what it needs to be
  • Work to build dummy sites I can use as portfolio pieces
  • Attempt to build my freelance base at least some
  • !)&*$#$*# network at least a little with humans

  • Master pull-ups/chin-ups
  • Work on yoga balances (specifically I want to do fancy ass crow variations)
  • Run a 30-minute 5k (virtual is fine) - I plan on doing quarterly 5ks
  • Check into a 'get faster with 5ks' program or do that new Zombies 10k thing
  • Maybe throw in 2 10ks
  • Keep up with rucking
  • Figure out where I'll be living and go there - or stay here
  • Continue my minimalism track
  • Continue my macros
  • Continue my crafts
  • Work on biohacking when life is more settled

For the first half of this challenge, I'll be continuing my workout schedule of Yoga Mondays, class Tuesdays, possible Rucking Wednesdays, class Thursdays, walking Weekends and light additional bodyweight and/or yoga challenges sprinkled throughout my weekdays.

Macros will continue on with my standard 1,500 or so calories, 100g or fewer carbs, 100g or fewer fat, 70g or higher protein.

I'll be continuing working on the baby blanket I'm knitting, and am starting a new Secret Ranger Cross-Stitch Project today.

I will also continue working on digitizing my DVD collection daily.

And will pick up mini challenges and PvPs as they present themselves.

This challenge, like last challenge, is all about maintenance - I'm not piling on enough craziness to overwhelm myself while I'm working on things for class + trying not to stress out about potential location switches. And it's winter, so my body wants to do absolutely nothing but eat carbs, hibernate, and be injured.

Hibernation... Tempting, but studies show it's so not worth it!

Eff winter ruts. Let's beat this with learning and moving! And I suppose attempting to not eat all the carbs. That will be hardest though, methinks.

Day one cheers!

Week 1 Day 1

Workouts

Today’s “Real†Workout: Water A Yoga, and it absolutely kicked my ass. I couldn’t touch the ground in forward fold, could barely stay up during the long side holds (when she’s going over all the cues) in things like lunges, and was really unfocused throughout.

I may also be fighting something off. Throat felt like someone had strangled me all day, body ached, I was freezing cold, and generally felt like complete ass. So much so that the DH made me take NyQuil to sleep. Which helped (hopefully) as I feel 30% better today after a comatose night of sleep.

Not helping matters: my posture is h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e when I feel like crap. And it’s been really slipping this whole holiday season. I need to do better here.

No minis or anything else - I still need to find something else for here.

Macros

Breakfast: Coffee with almond milk

Lunch: Leftover egg drop soup

Dinner: Sous vide basil chicken thigh with cauli fried rice & an egg

Snacks: Almonds + a Cave Man maple nut bar to shove some more fat and calories in my face

Calories: 854 of 1,500

Carbs: 44 of 100g

Fat: 58 of 100g

Protein: 41 of 70g

Crafts

Baby Blanket: No - binge watched 3 episodes of Mr. Robot instead of being productive

Ranger Cross Stitch: I picked my pattern and layed it out.

Other

DVDs: Yes

Class or Homework: No

Ranger Mini Challenge Feat

Week 1: Stamina. This week, I will focus on my 5k work.

Did I work toward this goal today? Not specifically, though I did a little work on stretching out my hips enough to make running during the week not ruinous.

Thx. I needs them. I still feel like I'm being strangled, it's now freezing outside and windy as all get out so the air in my house is suuuuuuper dry and I'm itchy/uncomfortable/crabby anyways. And I was too lazy to put my contacts in this morning, so my face hurts because of my glasses. a

WAAAAAAAAAAH.

But ... on the plus side: I finally had a smoothie for breakfast, so maybe my GI system will get itself back to normal. Yay, nutrients!

Too early in the challenge for illness!

Just mix yourself up a healing potion.  You'll be fine... right?

Lols. I'm hoping the super calorie + fat dense smoothie I've whipped up for dinner on the go will do my body some good - plus the cups and cups of Earl Grey, hot and the (finally!) breakfast green smoothie.

I'm hoping this is all just a combo of a crap weather shift, dry air, not working my body enough over the past two weeks, and maybe fighting something - as opposed to 'calm before the sickness whammy' storm.

I'm sure I'll be fine, though if the weather keeps so cold and full of arctic blasts of wind, I may just sub yoga for tomorrow's scheduled ruck day. I can't think of anything great to show y'all in the dark that I haven't already, anyways. Plus, more stretching seems to be what my body is craving right now.

I'm super excited to do the church crawl - the DH may also join me with the wide angle (lens). This could be a whoooooole genre of ruck, there are so many of them here.

Week 1 Day 2

Workouts

Today’s “Real†Workout: None.

No minis or anything else - I still need to find something else for here.

I did, however, bring my 10# ruck plate with me to class and I'm glad I did. I had thought to take it out because I was still feeling kinda sad in the body, but left it in because dammit, that thing's not leaving my school pack come hell or high water. I didn't really get a ruck in, but I at least got a little time under weight.

Macros

Breakfast: DH’s green smoothie with hemp protein + Coffee with almond milk

Lunch: Leftovers from last night

Dinner: Peanut butter & spinach protein smoothie + grande cafe mist with coconut milk

Snacks: None, though I went to bed hungry

Calories: 1,413 of 1,500

Carbs: 61 of 100g

Fat: 109 of 100g

Protein: 66 of 70g

Crafts

Baby Blanket: Nope

Ranger Cross Stitch: I started on the border

Other

DVDs: Yes

Class or Homework: Yes. Class day. And I actually got somewhere with the parts of my final project I’m stuck on. Got Math.random to *kind* of work in my JQuery file … now I’ve got to translate what I have into spitting out a full HTML array instead of a bulleted list. And I need to continue mucking with Owl Carousel to get my other component to work. Dare I say it? I may actually finish this damn thing on time without having to pull an all-nighter!

Ranger Mini Challenge Feat

Week 1: Stamina. This week, I will focus on my 5k work.

Did I work toward this goal today? A little. I dug through the apps on my phone to see which had 5k programs. Zombies, Run! Has no sub-30 5k program; just a couple 10ks. Run keeper wants money. And the Nike app has a free program. Nike it is. I don’t think I’ll get any solid work on the program done this week, however. My body is feeling a little better, but is still dealing with effects from the suddenly really dry air, and it’s going to take awhile for my lungs to balance/skin to quit itching/etc.

In lieu of a graphic, may I present Type O. The Type O train started this morning when I saw Kat's frost-themed challenge pop up on my phone's notification list as I was struggling to open my eyes this morning. Sleepy head + frost apparently needed to start a looooong internal wonder on the causes on Peter Steele needing protection from Frost Giants in the song Too Late: Frozen. And now YouTube is auto-playing related songs. I can live with this, as long as I don't have to sit through October Rust and no jackasses put the original version of Cinnamon Girl in the rotation.
