dancezwithkittehz
How am I supposed to follow challenge llama?! Naturally with BOWSER! LIKE A BOSS, YA'LL! January shall mark an return to aerial shenanigans like whoa. Goal decisions are a work in progress as I make final decisions but it shall be something like: GOALS 1. Handstand push up progressions - I can do 10+ push ups in a row. It's time to work towards more difficult variants. I am following the progressions I learned at camp from super badass Beast Skills dude. I would like to work this at least 3x per week (likely before or following aerial on my aerial days with a possibly extra day on Wednesdays just because.) I am starting with pike push ups and will progress to decline push ups if I get to where I can do 10+ pike push ups. 2. Straight legged straddle progressions - I know these are close and I just need to get my core slightly more ridiculous to land these on the regular. These require ridiculous core as well as some upper body. I will count all aerial as well as core conditioning workouts towards this goal and I would like to do core work 5x per week! 3. Pull up progressions - I am so stupidly close to a dead hang chin up and dead hang pull will come soon after. I want to work pull progression work 3x per week (likely also to coincide with aerial days, and aerial itself counts.) I may toy with throwing in random sets of bodyweight rows on rest days because those are easy enough for me to do that now and will help with grease the groove type training-ish. 4. Continue pistol squat progression - These will be mine soon I know it! All weighted and bodyweight squat workouts in addition to one legged specific training variants count in this area. Work squats 3x per week. LIFE GOALS Sleep more & make it to work on time - I was really good about being on time for my first 6 months at this job but with the insanity of my rehearsal schedule in late November and December this started to falter. I need to get up at 6 every weekday, and be in bed by 11, no exceptions. (I may read in bed to try and get myself to actually fall asleep/while I wait for benadryl to kick in.) One caveat, goals may need to be amended as I get into more intense rehearsal schedules. 3 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! Oh hey I didn't remember to mention what I am doing hahahahahaha. D'oh! I am currently working on our annual adult aerial cabaret for Valentine's day weekend. We only have just over a month to do choreograph and rehearse the whole thing sooo this should be exciting! Since we don't have a huge amount of time I'm going to have to stick mostly with skills I already have down because yeah 1 month is not enough time to nail anything completely new to adequate performance quality!!!! 1 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! Good luck this challenge and happy new year! So far so good for 2 days? WoohoO! Lol. I am only waking up 15 min earlier but I think just that extra few minutes to get my brain working properly seems to be working to get me out of the house a little earlier. And leaving earlier is making my commute only take 45 min vs an hour so yay! How'd the other show goooo, btw? It was great! And totally owned my life most of December. Wheeeeee! Our final week of rehearsals and tech rehearsals into the show nights was SO CRAZY. 65 hour work week on the show, plus my day job was a lot! It was awesome but I needed major downtime after; thus my winter break was all kitty cuddles and beer and video games! 2 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! dancezwithkittehz
Oh my god I need those leggings. Right meow. Where did you find such gloriousness? Sadly they don't seem to have those in stock anymore last I checked but I got those from Klassy Kassy. They have lots of leggings in fun colors but most are the boring patterned kind and not wacky enough for me. If they had more like those I would buy sooooo many. ALL THE LEGGINGS MUST BE MINE. I need more ridiculous leggings that have good grip. Teach me your shopping secrets. And yeah those actually do have decent grip! I mostly live in my Marika sanded dry wik leggings which have good grip as well although they arent quite as fun and hilarious as some leggings. I wish the amazing Black Milk style crazy nerd printed leggings were not made of slick material. So annoying! I want grippy 3D printed leggings waaaaaaaaaa. 1 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!! Southern California almost never gets rain thus our drainage is total crap and everything floods super easily on the rare occasions when we do get real rain. And we also had a fire along my commute route recently so even larger likelihood of mudslides on my commute than usual.Yesterday the part of the freeway by the burn flooded out with mud and debris and had to be closed for 4+ hours. It's pouring again today on and off so yeah...I wonder if getting stuck at work or at home may be in my future this week! (Please let me get stuck on home side please let me get stuck on home side....) Last night I snuck in a quick squat workout and a plank and some stretching (realizing the back of my couch is perfect barre height has way upped my leg stretch frequency!) I also did AMRAP wall push ups for funsies since we have the mini going and although those are easy for me it will still help me build up muscle for my push up progression goals. I managed to do 62 and I feel like I maybe could have tortured myself through more, but then again both of my triceps freaked out on me and cramped up for a minute or two after I stopped soooo maybe not. Still waiting to hear on wtf we are doing schedule wise for aerial rehearsals..so that's fun. Yay suspense? At this rate I feel like they are going to have to push back the show to get enough rehearsal time and that will totally fuck with my plan to jump immediately into work on the dance show mid February. dancezwithkittehz
Week 1, Day 3 Report Hand Stand Push Up Progression - 2 of 3 per week completedStraight Legged Straddle (core work) - 2 of 5 per week completedPull Up Progression - 2 of 3 per week completedPistol Squat Progression - 1 of 3 per week completedDay 3. Woohoo! I did another at home workout day with my pull up bar. For pull up work I did some pull up and chin up negatives as well as figured out I can do a chin up from feet on the ground (not dead hang yet, but so close!) For core I did hanging tuck ups and leg lifts with legs in pike position (I didn't do straddle since I realize my straddle ups are way stronger than my standard pike with legs together. Woops!) I also drilled working on upside down pike. Well, not the actual upside down pike but the part I have trouble with is tucking up and then under the bar to even get to the pike. I worked on doing these with a little hop and some momentum until I have the feeling of the movement down enough to slow it down. For the first time ever I actually got my feet past the bar/ actually got into position (I usually get stuck with my shins up again the bar and I can't get myself to move any further but I can hang out up there for a bit.) I wonder if this last little bit of fluff I seem to have lost is making this possible, or if I just had some weird mental block on the mechanics? Who knows? I made sure to put emphasis on dropping my head back and down after I reach the top of the tuck and I think that may have been where my problem was! For push up work, I did another giant set of a push up variation for the mini. This time I did table push ups and I realize that I can in fact do more of those than wall push ups. I like these so much more than wall push ups!!! You can actually real full depth and it feels like an actual modified push up and not like some weird tricep only exercise. And no nose hitting walls. Yays! For tonight/day 4 my plan is another push up variant (and maybe also mix in some pike push ups after the knee push up AMRAP set) as well as some squat work and probably also drilling more core stuff and continuing to do some reps of the tuck up to under the bar. I feel like repetition on that even if it's just once or twice a day is going to put that firmly in the "shit I can do" pile of skills WOO. 2 Quote Assassin extraordinaire!!
