Men ONLY please...

What you've got to remember is that unlike states that aren't in the rust belt, cities are not where everything is going on in Michigan. Lansing, Detroit, etc, are mostly filled with families that used to be in the auto industry and are now mostly in trouble. Grand Rapids is a likely difference, but that's probably the most vibrant city in Michigan right now.

At least in Lansing we've got MSU nearby, but that's not for everybody.

New question for the lads:

I like my boss, we've got a great rapport, a lot of mutual understanding, and a great working environment because of it. In the office we have Him (supervisor), Myself (Analyst) and 2 Technicians. One tech, was recently let go because he was useless (honestly, who watches movies on his iPhone or computer at work all day and doesn't think it's a bad idea?) and the other has been excellent (smart, good with other departments, personable, productive). Unfortunately, I've noticed the technician working their resume and a few documents that look like cover letters recently. We don't have the budget to offer more money as a bargaining chip, so that isn't an option.

My question: Do I casually mention to my boss what I suspect to give him a heads up as to what might be coming and ease a potential change in staffing? OR is it none of my damn business and I should keep it to myself?

Personally I feel, the if he's really a good guy, he'll give the boss fair warning, not just up and quit. And I think it would be wrong for you to deny him that opportunity.

I also know that lots of folks put the resume's out every now and again just for the sake of doing it, even when they have no intention of leaving. If more money isn't an option, maybe take a quick glance through Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Work Week, and try offer something where he gets less hours at work, but no drop in pay. A work from home/abroad type deal. That's something that most companies won't offer, and it's far more valuable than more money.

As someone fedup with their job and strongly wanting to leave, I say its none of yer dang business!

But as someone who also works in a very small office (12 employees in a nationwide company) it can be tricky. On one hand, reporting it to your boss could be seen as a breach of trust among your coworkers, but on the other hand a sudden change of staff can be very disruptive to the work place flow. Maybe talk to your coworker, before your boss.

My gut tells me to keep it to myself, but I know I'd hate to give an employee a huge project only to have them leave mid-way through if I was in his position. Mind you, nothing says they will be hired if they DO end up getting an interview

Keep it to yourself. It really isn't any of your business, and you don't know for sure if he is planning on quitting, or just trolling the waters to see what else, if anything, is available.

I have a Men Only Question:

When I do leg lifts or sit ups or some variations, it is like I push through then drag back my testicles between my thighs. So I will have to reposition them, which interrupts my workout. However if doing many reps they find their way back to being pushed through and brought back... obviously uncomfortable.

Anyone else get this or know how I can prevent it?

I've tried wearing tight tidy whiteys, hoping to kind of pack them in more but that didn't completely work and was a pain in its own right.

My question for you Parker, why are you doing sit ups?

On another note, I've been wearing Under Armour Boxer Jocks lately with no testicular discomfort. I used to get it all the time with regular boxers.

I've never tried special performance boxers, but I've never experienced anything like that with regular boxers.

I kinda keep things loose, and just set the boys in front and make are to squeeze my thighs together so they can't squeeze through and create discomfort. Conversely, you can also WIDEN the gap and allow ample room for flow with no discomfort.

And also, Why are to doing sit ups Parker? They're not really the best on your back, and there's SO MANY better exercises you can do for your core. I'm a huge fan of the Rolling Plank of Doom, and I'm really getting to like leg lifts and hollow holds. Side plank push ups are also KILLER on the obliques. And reverse curls do wonders as well, minus most of the back problems.

I will try the under armour. Thanks!

Also sit ups are something I had done since elementary school. Part of gym curriculum. Had this problem since middle school at least. I haven't done a "sit up" in years though; thanks for the concern! Are sit ups being bad a hot topic? Any other ab exercises that are the devil? I have done p90x's ab ripper routine before often and more recently only leg lifts (since finding nerd fitness).

If you wanna go cheaper, try the champion brand boxer briefs at target, they're awesome.

Sorry, no idea where you'd get them in the states. Anywhere that stocks do-win lifting shoes I'd imagine. Got mine off a specialist sports shoe retailer here in the UK.

Oh, they're lifting shoes. I still need a pair of party shoes.

You could talk to the tech instead - say you've noticed what he's up to and ask what he's planning. Keep it informal. If he is moving on, you can avoid giving him any major projects.

I have to agree here. Talk to the tech. Just be buddy buddy with him and ask whats up. If you feel you need to be involved that is.
