I did 72 assisted bodyweight squats today and I'm going to the NerdFitness book tour thing tomorrow night. There will be lightsaber training! I REALLY need to not be crippled by DOMS tomorrow. My legs don't feel particularly bad right now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. mediaguy99 Posted January 15, 2016 Report Share Posted January 15, 2016 We do that in ski hills here as well, but I'm talking about proper mountains without a ski lift. There aren't enough people living here to afford building prepared ski hills with lifts and lights nearby. I could go for a 2-3 hour drive though, if I really wanted to go downhill, but it's even more fun when you've walked up first. Hells yeah. We call that 'backcountry skiing' here and sadly I haven't done enough of that in recent years. Probably because we had a child in 2010. I've lugged him uphill in a ski trailer though--now THAT is a workout! I can do the beginner ones but I don't have the balance to get the intermediate or advanced. Grrrr! My "usual" workout is squats with 40 lbs... going back to bodyweight feels like cheating. It was tough to find a doorway with enough space to try and the only one that works doesn't have a normal doorjamb to hold onto. I don't think I could have done it even if it did have a doorjamb though, but at least I tried. I also had this problem. For some reason, the builders on this house filled between the doorjambs on the only corner in the house that had two doors near each other. I could not get a good grip on my door so I ended up lowering my pull up bar to about hip height and using that. Worked much better for me! (I know not everyone has an adjustable height pull up bar to work with either tho!) Assassin extraordinaire!! I'd think that'd be more in the balance assisted pistol vs assisted pistol (where you are taking a bit of the weight with your arms.) Good idea for when I feel up to trying those though!
