Hiroro: 18 Days and a Cross-Country Move

So I'm late to the party....whoops. Better get to it then! Pretty basic, because Goal #3 is a doozy.

Goal #1: Eat plants

Two veggies a day. Because i need to crowd out carbs with veggies instead of the other way around.

Goal #2: Work out 15x

I've been losing money to Pact. But I found my Fitbit so that should help. Ideally I'd like to get lots of boot camp/long rucks/running/sprinting/lifting in but my third goal may interfere. So walks count.

Rough plan:

  • Until move - use newly refurbished weight room at work, sprints, ruck, pullups/chinups
  • During moving trip - walk, pullups/chinups, hotel weight rooms
  • Post-move - start figuring out new routine

Goal #3: MOVE

During the last challenge I was applying to jobs. Well...I got the first one I interviewed for. So I'm moving to Ohio...possibly leaving next Friday. It's all a bit haphazard.

Tasks:

  1. Get rid of stuff! Because even though the company is packing/moving unpacking it all, it's easier to declutter now.
  2. Label all the things that are mine (because the movers may come after I'm gone)
  3. Pack clothes and essentials to bring in the car
  4. Plan the cross-country road trip (this is the fun part. doing it with my dad. can't wait)

Really the goal is to move with minimal stress, and channeling my stress into action (working out/yoga, meditating, preparing for move, working) instead of eating/drinking or retail therapy.

The Ramble

It's been an intense couple months with the passing of my grandmother, the holidays, and the job application process. I found out right before the holidays that I would get the job, but didn't get the official offer until last week. I'm trying to stay calm and be positive about the new job, even though I am not-so-secretly veryvery apprehensive because I'm not sure project management is for me. I had basically decided not to take it, but then the offer came and I didn't have anything else on the horizon so I leapt. Truthfully, it would be wonderful to stay at my current job in CA but the bf is living in the house that I own in Ohio, awaiting my return. *sigh*

The relocation company doesn't have my information yet, and I'm supposed to start Feb 1st as of right now. If my move date ends up being after next Thursday (current last work day in CA), I would push my drive/start date....but my Dad who is driving with me has schedule constraints. Right now my last day here is 1/21. And I'm supposed to drive to Ohio 1/22-1/27 with stops at the Grand Canyon, Albuquerque, Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville. I am thrilled about the trip! Especially since the company should pay a lot of the expenses.

It's taking a lot of my emotional and mental energy to reframe my anxieties and fears in positive ways. At least I'm finally over the cold I caught in Cancun!

So sorry about your grandmother!  That is never easy.

But congratulations on the job!  Even if you end up wanting to change to something else, I'm sure the boyfriend will be glad to have you nearby.

Here's hoping your transition goes smoothly!

Day 1:

Eat plants (broccoli and carrots)

Sweat (10k steps on my Fitbit)

Move (Reached agreement with apartmentmates so they will supervise movers after I'm gone)

Day 2:

Eat plants

Sweat

Move

Basically had a meltdown last night. Every time I tell someone about my new position they ask 'why would you want to do that?' and I don't have a good answer. Lots of crying, wine, and cheese. But I've kind of felt on the verge for a while, so it's good to get it out. Must refocus on my stress management techniques. I'm having all the feels...need to start meditating and working out again.

Tonight I'm going to Vegas through Monday, and there will be lots of amazing food but I'll work the veggies in there. Amazingly I've roughly maintained my weight since the end of the last challenge. I'm still doing my sorta-IF: hot water with ginger and lemon in the morning, don't eat until my stomach settles and the hunger emerges. Will try to continue while traveling.

Day 3: Vegas, baby!

Eat plants-check

Sweat-check

Move-check

I walked my feet off on the strip last night. I'm not a huge gambled but the people watching is prime. Ate free tacos at work for lunch, but felt it was worth it...Ohio Mexican food doesn't quite hold up (for the same $). Dinner was the Ellis Island steak special, thanks to the challenge I ate more green beans and salad. Also had wine last night, but thinking about my goals kept me from the late night munchies!

Got up earlyish (considering I slept after 2) to hit the gym. Might as well get some value for my resort fee :)

The past four days have been hit and miss eating-wise. Lots of crazy eating and drinking in Vegas. Lots of walking too, and two gym visits.

Days 4-8:

Plants: 2/5

Sweat: 3/5

Move: I found out this morning that the movers will able to come tomorrow! So before I leave town on Friday, yay! I had done some prep work but not nearly enough, so this will be better. Hopefully the movers will able to finish my stuff in 3hours or so, which will let me pop into work tomorrow to say goodbye to everyone. I'm starting to get sad about leaving.

I don't feel ready to leave. But come Friday morning, I have to leave no matter how I feel. Crying may occur.

Thanks!

Today was my last day at work. And my last hangout with my closest cousin (our birthdays are one week apart). Sadness...

Movers came this morning. At a hotel tonight to get a few hours of sleep before driving out tomorrow morning. Eek!

Day 9:

Eat plants: carrots and spinach

Sweat: not exactly. hit 10k steps though

Move: All my stuff is gone!!! Except for the things packed for near-term use

A couple of my coworkers got fitbits lately, and I friended them. Did a challenge today and found it motivating, hoping that will continue.

Went to a sushi-making class with my cousin. It was amazing but I'm so exhausted.

Visited the Hoover Dam yesterday, then barely made it to the Grand Canyon to catch the last of sunset. Stayed near the Grand Canyon, then heading back this morning to catch sunrise and do some walking around there. So much beautiful.

Day 10

Eat plants: check check check ...salad twice and a couple brussels sprouts

Sweat: Walked around the hotel room to eke out 10k steps, since most of the day was driving

Move: on the way to Ohio!
