Momo's late start~~~

Hi guys! i'm not sure if anyone will remember me. but if not, cool! I get another first impression! (shift eyes...)

 

anyway... looks like im 2 weeks late to start the challenge. Whoops~

 

It dawned on me on sunday 17th, while i was in the Los Angeles book signing event and met Steve Kamb in person that I haven't done a challenge in forever... I sounded like a crazed fan-girl (I am) as I was talking with Steve as he signed my book and foaming at the mouth jibbering about stuff... HE WROTE ON MY BOOK: "MOMO! IT'S DANGEROUS OUT THERE! TAKE THIS!" ~ STEVE [Triforce drawing]... I was wearing a Legend of Zelda shirt. The parkour event was scary and exciting. truly the first ever moment in my entire life i was ever STARSTRUCK. @_@.

 

I'm hoping my classmates will forgive my absence in forever (a couple years).. i think especially after receiving a magical hug from Steve, I am super compelled to get things rolling again for myself.

 

to explain my absence..  I am back with a level head to get myself more involved with myself and avoid excuses. and i want to be an amazing addition to the team. :)

 

As i am starting in the middle of the challenge, my goals are modest as i am also restarting my weightlifting/fitness regime.

i gained a bit of weight (currently 145lb) and i lost muscle (FT school+work, car accident, sedentary...), so i won't be squatting 260+ lbs anytime soon... I think i am the most disappointed by this fact. but i'll be sure in next 10 or so challenges, that i build myself back to this and then some.

 

 

My Challenge for the remainder is:

 

Diet

  • Half my plate is green veggies
  • eat meat
  • drink more bone broth
  • Eat a piece of >70% dark chocolate whenever i have cravings to eat sweets that usually end up with more sweets and there i am at the drive-thru of mcdonalds.

 

Fitness

  • Walk during work @ breaktime - i get 2 x 10 min during my day other than lunch. @10:30am & @3:00pm.
  • Zumba Friday evenings @5:30pm with my favorite Zumba instructor
  • Follow chiropractor's request and lift weights gradually - only bar now to build into stronger workouts later... 1 hr @ gym after work - increase weights weekly
  • stretch and foam roll - dude

 

Level Up Your Life

  • Don't be late for anything I don't want to be late for or anything I wouldn't want anyone to be late to attend if the situation was on the other shoe - This includes: Work, Events that have specific start-end times and I say yes to those times unless i tell the host/hostess prior if i will be late or unattending, Best Friends' events because i don't want to be an ass. - Start by clocking in to work on time at exactly 8:00am. make it a game. 
  • Budget an international trip this year - Have a trip to Bahamas coming up late March and I want to spend the least $$ as possible
  • Work on communication like Writing heartfelt letters instead of talking to make things personal. Like with my mom... we misunderstand EASILY and cultural semantics is hard especially if we don't want to listen to each other... a lot of times when we talk we each take offense and get defensive. but that's not the case!
  • Calculate my transferable GPA - I'm filling out my supplemental application forms to Universities!!! at the age of 30. I need to submit my GPAs and final transcripts by Feb.
  • Daily food blog posts on tumblr. Keep it simple.
  • Weekly video blog on youtube to talk about stuff, progress, and rants. Share my ideas with the world and level up my criticism and hate-taking ability/tolerancy. hopefully i'll make sense to someone.

 

A lot of these will carry on into the next challenge. Definitely the one about school and GPA needs to be done ASAP. the video and food blog post is an idea im tossing around again because i used to do a foodblog for years and want to do something big.

 

and random closing.. if i do stronglifts again at ground 0, it will take about a year to get my max back to 260lbs. I'm confident i will have BETTER form than i had before when i get there again. :)

As luck would have it, I got struck with suddenly feeling really sick today. It started yesterday as I was sneezing a lot. Last night I had so much trouble sleeping from stuffy head. Ugh.

I did manage to get in a small squat workout last night, before symptoms got bad. I'll post a video and info soon.

Yo, Momo! Great to see you back - and at the same time as me! I am soooooo jealous of your meeting Steve story! That sounds just so cool :D I'm reading level up your life right now, and have just found it so inspirational. It has really encouraged me to reach for some big goals this year.

 

Your challenge looks great - though a lot of work for 3ish weeks. I'm glad you'll be spreading over into the next challenge.

 

I hope you feel better soon. That always seems to happen  just as you get started on a new turn, sickness arrives just to test your resolve.

Sleeping a lot today..

Ate this for lunch. It's a cheat meal because I feel like shit and I want something comforting that I haven't eaten in forever. It's called jja-jang myun in Korean- black bean noodles.

Hi Sam! I feel a ton better, but have to take a day off work to finish getting better.

Hi Flex! A "quick" game can be between 30 Min to 3 hours for me. Easily play till morning. I love coming up with strategies and exploiting simple cards.

taking the time off work to put up the videos i took on thursday.. thursday was the only workout day so far since my OP. I'm hoping for better days.

 

So my doctor told me i was okay now to start lifting weights again, but advised I start at the bar and go at it slowly. My "workout" on thursday was a 200 squat challenge from my boyfriend, who said if i can do all 200 reps with good form, he said he will start doing squats with me the proper way.

 

So that's the story behind 200 squats with just the bar. Split into 10 sets of 20 reps...

Sorry for double post!

Ate dinner with the boyfriend after some gym time.. Since he lost the bet last Thursday, he wants to uphold it by learning how to squat from me. Yay!

So I taught him a bit today.. Using a box for his butt to touch and lift off from. Trying to inform him all the muscle cues he would want to focus on to not get injured. I'll write more but he copied me do squats, ohp, and deadlift. Teaching deadlift is different than squat. Next time I'll video tape him! His squats look way better than his first attempt on Thursday.

So that was the small workout today. Just the bar mostly. And 10lb bumper plates for deadlifts.
