If you realize that all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.
If you aren't afraid of dying,
there is nothing you can't achieve.

Trying to control the future
is like trying to take the master carpenter's place.
When you handle the master carpenter's tools,
chances are that you'll cut your hand.

Wow that's a serious success story. You did really well last week.

I think I get a hang of the four weeks. What's your impression? But I still think it's a little too short for making new habits.

Thank you <3 <3 <3 I'm pretty proud of last week. I hope it will help in future moments of struggle to remember that they're also something I can be proud of later, if I rely on my inner strength.

I like the four weeks, mostly because I have a fairly short attention span and seemed to lose momentum in the last two weeks. I feel like this is the right amount of time for me to re-evaluate my goals. Plus, more challenges per year means more themes :D

I like 4 weeks too!

It's a good time frame for me to try something new, and if I want it to be a habit, I can take it forward through three challenges before I decide if I succeeded or failed.

Definitely! It's a good way to test out goals, I know I've had some that just didn't click, for whatever reason. I'm good with repeating quests too since it does take longer than four weeks to really form a habit (at least for me).

I maaaaaaay already be drafting my next challenge ;)

But onto scores so far this week!

Week 2, Day 3

giphy.gif

Goal 1: Get Schwifty

Five Meditation sessions per week

 2/5

Goal 2: Build a Better Robot

 5 lists/2 hour blocks a week.

 3/5

Goal 3: Portal Gun

Do one creative thing a day. 5x per week.

 3/5

Goal 4: Lil Bits

3 meals a day. Moderation and smaller portions. Cutting down on snacks up to  3 a day this week.

3/5

Goal 5: The Rick-est Rick

Gratitude statements 5x per week. Inspiration 5x per week

Inspiration: 3/5

Gratitude: 3/5

I started tracking again, just to keep me more mindful of how much I'm eating and it's going well. I had three meals and one snack yesterday, so that's pretty great. I'm drinking tea after meals, which is my problem time. My brain thinks,"hmmm.. eating was nice, let's keep doing that!" So I give it tea instead :D. It helps to remember I tend to get nauseous when I eat too much at once too. Seems like 300-500 calories is a meal size my stomach feels comfortable with.

ALSO I think I've pinpointed what was causing a lot of my stomach issues; I drink a lot of tea and I was using fake sweetener (I know, I know, this is something I'm looking at for next challenge). I've since cut it out of my tea (though I have some in my coffee in the morning, baby steps) and my stomach has been much better this week!

Have practiced guitar, done some singing, a bit of editing, and quite a lot of writing (plus more brainstorming). This novel has changed quite a lot but definitely for the better. My goal is to be 20k into the re-write by the end of the week and I'm currently at ~16k. So do-able. If I don't make that goal, well, I'm still close than I was when the week started :D

Exercise is going strong, I'm going for a walk this morning while it's still nice out, and I'm enjoying the daily activity. Weirdly, I notice that exercise makes me want to eat less, and eat better. So yay for that!

So far, Week 2 is looking good :D

The same thing happens to me...! It's as if the focus of eating shifts towards fueling your body for working out. It's different from when you don't work out - you don't have the same kind of connection to your body, I guess. Whatever the reason, this sounds great, Spooky! :)

Some of the artificial sweeteners really tear me up. Splenda (sucralose) in particular does a number on my stomach. The sugar-alcohols aren't much better. NutraSweet (aspartame) used to cause headaches, but now all it does is make me hungry. I've cut them all out, and I feel much better for it.

This method is DFG-approved! :) The harder I work, the smarter I eat. Some days after serious exertion I don't want to eat anything at all. The day after, however, all bets are off. :D

Same here. I drank aspartame for a decade before it tore my stomach up. I felt a lot better after I stopped drink diet soda. It helped my stomach and I felt better in general. Now if I drink anything with aspartame, I get a sore throat.

LOL, mine's sort of in ongoing draft mode at the moment, but I always start drafting early so I can build the excitement.

The same thing happens to me...! It's as if the focus of eating shifts towards fueling your body for working out. It's different from when you don't work out - you don't have the same kind of connection to your body, I guess. Whatever the reason, this sounds great, Spooky!

Keep having a great week 2, one day at a time  I love all the pictures and quotes you post here!

Interesting! Good to know I'm not alone :D. I agree with you, I just want healthier food and to eat more regularly instead of snacking. Which is a big goal for me right now.

One day at a time indeed <4. And thanks! They remind me to take control of my day every day.

Yeah, fingers crossed this seems to be the big thing so I'm working to cut them out all together. Slowly, but I'll do it. Soda isn't really an issue for me, thankfully. I'll drink natural ginger ale when I'm nauseous sometimes but otherwise eh. I think the fake sugar was also driving my sweets craving because since I've cut down, I've had way less trouble avoiding sweets.  Â¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Happy it's DFG approved :D *wipes sweat from brow*. And LOL it's similar for me! The next day.....FEED THE BEAST :P

This is totally how it works for me. Watch out on a feeding frenzy day - especially if I get anywhere near a steak.

Pretty sure that day is today :o. My fridge better watch it's back :P

Good to know! I knew that it was a possibility so when I looked at what I've been eating/drinking I felt like it was a place to start, elimination-wise. It doesn't seem to bother my mom though  Â¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

If a country is governed wisely,
its inhabitants will be content.
They enjoy the labor of their hands
and don't waste time inventing
labor-saving machines.
Since they dearly love their homes,
they aren't interested in travel.
There may be a few wagons and boats,
but these don't go anywhere.
There may be an arsenal of weapons,
but nobody ever uses them.
People enjoy their food,
take pleasure in being with their families,
spend weekends working in their gardens,
delight in the doings of the neighborhood.
And even though the next country is so close
that people can hear its roosters crowing and its dogs barking,
they are content to die of old age
without ever having gone to see it.
