Main Quest.

My main quest is to develop my confidence and physical health/fitness to the point where my low self esteem no longer holds me back from living life the way I'd like to.

 

This challenge I'll be keeping things pretty simple by taking better care of my body, teaching it to move better, and doing a crap load of pushups.

 

Quest 1 - Movement Training. +3 DEX

  1. Mobility/stretching every day
  2. Practice parkour rolls 3 times a week

 

Quest 2 - Increase Pushups. +2 STR, +1 STA

Continuing my quest to reach 100 pushups in 5 sets, this challenge the goal is 75. That means an improvement of 6 reps in 4 weeks. As always, this will be measured in a once-weekly test.

 

Quest 3 - Get better rest. +3 CON

  1. Laptop off by 21:30 Sunday-Thursday. Basically any night I need to wake up for work the next day. This will probably include a couple of Friday's as I pick up extra hours most Saturdays these days.
  2. No caffeine after 4PM. This used to be a strict rule of mine but I've let it slide recently.

 

Quest 4 (life quest) - Earning my pen license. +1 WIS

Continuing on from my last quest, I'll be working my way towards actual grown-up handwriting by practising handwriting 3 times each week.

A (100%), B (75%), C (50%), D (25%), F (0%)

Nice set of goals! What are you using to practice handwriting? Mine could use some work, I just don't like to slow down :)

 

I'm especially impressed by your pushup goal, I'm working on getting up to 20 perfect ones this round, 75 is stellar!

That's part of my problem as well, my brain is two sentences ahead of my hand most of the time. I've just been doing a simple exercise to teach spacing and consistency, I was pretty surprised by the lack of handwriting tutorial type stuff aimed at adults that isn't calligraphy. I just want to re-learn the basics and have readable handwriting. 

My secret pushup goal is to get at least one set of 20 this month, previous record is sets of 18|15|13|11|12.

Rolls - Not today

Pushups - Not today (probably Thursday)

Laptop off by 21:30 - Fail. Totally lost track of time, turned off at 21:43. Ironically I was watching a video on how to sleep better...  :redface-new:

No caffeine after 4 - Pass.  

 

Quest 4

Handwriting practice - Yes

 

Bonus - Assassin Mini Challenge

No activities yet, got assigned to the Dark Side though.

 

Pretty good start, a bit annoyed at the laptop fail, though. Today will be better.

I have one set for a few sites that suck me in. It gives me a 5 minute warning and then when the time is up is says "Shouldn't you be working?" in big letters and blocks the site. It's very annoying, but helpful. You can set it up to block everything for specific hours, I think. 

 

Waste No Time - I saw on another rebel's challenge last time around.

Pretty good, might post some before and after samples later in the challenge. I feel my handwriting has progressed from "aww, did you get a kid to write this" to "dude, what's with your handwriting". Progress is progress  :playful:

Finally got pullup AMRAP in for initiation, surprised myself and maintained my PR of 5 despite nearly 2 weeks without doing any pullup/chinup practice.

 

 

Just realised that I haven't set up a grading system for this challenge, will get that done today hopefully. Edited first post to include grading method. Not the biggest fan of how I've set this up so next challenge will be created with grading in mind.

Thursday update, now with bonus details!


Quest 1


Mobility/Stretching - Yes. Really pleased with this, it's getting to the point where it feels weird if I haven't started the day with some mobility work. Stretching and hip mobility before bed is also really helping a stiff hip/hamstring problem I've always put up with.  :) 


Rolls - Yes. Bit of background on my rolling experience - I used to skateboard a lot so I've got a good background in falling safely, but my fear of being upside down (an aversion to inversion?) means I've always used a weird sideways roll rather than a proper ninja roll. The eventual aim here is to be completely comfortable with proper forwards and backwards rolls.

Laptop off by 21:30 - Pass. Laptop is going off after I post this update.


No caffeine after 16:00 - Pass. Doing pretty well here, keep having to remind myself not to take a coffee for the drive home from work now and then.

Bonus - Assassin Mini Challenge


I love this mini. Not just because I love Star Wars more than I care to admit to the average human (NF members are NOT average humans :playful: ), the format is brilliant too.


Today was a no workout day but I somehow ended up doing pullups (crystal), burpees (hilt), and a wall handstand (force). The handstand was scary as it's the first time I've ever got close enough to the wall for a wall plank to become a wall handstand, being upside down really freaks me out. Really proud of the fact that I even got into position so the measly 10 seconds I held it for feel like an epic victory.  ^_^

That's great news about the handstand! I tried one today but chickened out. Going upside down is freaky.

 

Ditto, way to go on the handstand! I haven't dared to try even the tripod yet. I think I'm sticking to crow pose on this challenge.

 

Great job so far on the challenge, please do share your worksheet progress, it will be fun to see!
