Yasha92 Posted January 30, 2016 Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 (MG1) Exercise Points: /50. As with the last challenge I’ll be aiming for 10,000 steps/day. This time I’m making it a goal to get to the gym at least once each week. Now that I’m back to paying for the gym I need to get the bang for my buck. Points are allocated: Gym Class=2pts, Bike Ride=1pt/30mins, Swim=1pt/5 laps, Walk=1pt/10,000 steps (plus .5 for every 5,000 above 10k). (MG2) Adulting: This challenge I will focus on small, achievable goals in this regard: teeth brushing 2xday, 5mins chores everyday, one Peter Walsh declutter challenge/day. Having these little goals should mean I can smash them and then build up from there. The declutter challenge should make a dent in the accumulated junk from living in the same house for 4 years, we are thinking about maybe moving in May, and I don’t want to move anything I don’t love. (MG3) Food Glorious Food: Continue with the 5 freggies/day and introduce ‘protein with every meal’. I believe I had been hitting that with last challenge, and that the wibbly-wobbly-woosey-weak days were days I neglected proteins. Having it as a goal should increase the get ‘er done mentality. Keeping this goal pretty simple as I will be returning to study this challenge and I want to stack the odds in my favour.(*Life*) Study: (Starts from the 8th Feb, points for pre-reading the required readings though) Every Thursday I will do a half-an-hour review of the topics covered in class. All the other days I will aim to read over my notes or required readings for 10mins minimum. I hope that by making sure I actually do the homework and start the assessment tasks before they are due will be reflected in some epic marks. Eventually I want to graduate with distinction, and the road to that is made easier by smashing the foundational subjects. (*Bonus*) Hair: Try one new hairdo per week. I have great (expensively) coloured hair, it's time to show it off more than a ponytail or plait.Rewards~ NF subscription (if I am consistently achieving the goals). Bellybutton piercing (if the waist measurement goes down to 90 or lower). 4 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Report Share Posted January 31, 2016 Pre-challenge hype up and running.Did a bunch of pre-challenge stuff to make it easier to win: bought a uni laptop, ditched a bunch of old uni paperwork, cleaned up the house enough that 5mins of chores should keep it liveable, got rid of a couple bags of donations and collected some bulky items (eg cat food, litter) while my Mum was down with the van so I don’t have to think about getting them done on foot etc. We (Mum, two siblings, me) went to a steam-punk themed picnic lunch, which was pretty cool. Mum also delivered me a rug which is totally awesome! (I’m trying to be a more put-together home-keeper, and rugs just seem put together. Plus, it was pretty). Keen for the big start tomorrow, starting off with a bang as I have an interview for the full-time, permanent equivalent of my position (I’m currently on contract until March) at 9am. Bring it! Hair-do 1. Rag-rolled curls (plus a plait of the curl that didn't work). Yasha92 Posted February 1, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 1, 2016 Day 1: A wobbly start. I write this as I'm walking to work on day 2, please excuse any typos/brevity. Yesterday's interview took a lot of my willpower. I walked to work, but once I got there it was almost all cards off the table in that I bought lunch and dinner and didn't eat any freggies post lunch. Interview went well though, and I should know by the end of the week. Exercise: almost- 9,400. I caught the bus home as my back was really hurting (a visit from an old injury). Adulting: 5min chores= yes. Declutter challenge=did it on Sunday. Teeth=yes. Food: freggies=5, smoothie, Apple and carrot sticks, cheese stick, nachos, pad Thai, other Thai food I don't know the names of (beefy something, rice). Ignore the eggs in the photo I didn't eat them, I'm having one for breakfast now. Proteins= B: milk, yoghurt, protein powder. L: beef and beans, sour cream, cheese stick. D: beef, chicken. Study: not yet r required. Hair: did on Sunday, 1/4. Adulting: chores yes, I unstacked and restacked the dishwasher, wiped the bench and stovetop. Brush teeth .5, forgot this morning, felt it all day. Doughnut, Small slurpee, homemade curry chicken, naan bread, yoghurt. (Little one is me, big one is the size I used to get) Protein: B. Egg, milk. L. Egg, chicken. D. Chicken, yoghurt. Yasha92 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 3, 2016 Pretty pleased with today on the whole, had a few emotional wobbles, but got some food in me quick and got back on track. Walked to work the short way, walked home the long way, stopped by the butchers to buy a single slice of bacon, the dude thought I was so strange... Got a bunch of stuff done in the afternoon. Especially pleased with the homemade lunch, as there was so much colour compared to bought food. Budget-wise it's so much better to take lunch too. Exercise Points: 1pt for 11,007 steps. Adulting: Teeth= yes. 5mins chores = rangered, five in the morning, more like 20 in the evening, not counting the declutter. Declutter: I let go of a pair of heeled boots I haven't worn in two years since I bought them for a play I didn't end up wearing them for. I'd been keeping them because they would be good dress-up boots, however I have three other pairs of boots, all of which I actually wear. I also did the 'floor' challenge in the bedroom, cleaning up the dirty laundry and blankets and such, remaking the bed. Food Glorious Food: 8 Freggies. Banana/Spinach/Berry smoothie, carrot, rocket, baby tomatoes, chicken, cheese stick, onion, apple, bacon, egg. Protein: B. Milk, yogurt, protein powder. L. Cheese stick, chicken. D. Bacon, egg. Study: Printed a bunch of readings in preparation, tomorrow is tutorial enrolment night, so I'll probably stay at work for a couple hours after work to try and get the best spot, work internet is fairly reliable, while the home internet has hiccups occasionally (like when I have an important deadline or time-sensitive stuff to do). Hair: Done for this week. 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 4, 2016 Popping in pleased to report that I got the tutorial spot. (Woot, woot!). I was surprised how light it was while I was walking home at 730pm, which means I really have no excuse to not be hitting my steps since there's so much light time (I normally finish work at 5pm). 3 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92 Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 4, 2016 Pretty good day today, pleased with how I’m plodding along with the challenge. Walked to work, after hanging around late to get the tutorial slot I needed walked home the long way. Once home I did a few bits and pieces although really not that much. Heading to bed a little early as I have a meeting in the morning (and I hope to find out the outcome of my application for permanent position at that meeting, fingers crossed). Exercise Points: 1 pt for walking 11,407. 3/50. Need to make it a priority to hit the gym this weekend, no excuses. Adulting: Teeth: Yes. 5mins chores: 5min in the morning and 10ish in the evening plus declutter challenge: undies drawer. I am pretty rutheless with underoos, tossing any that don’t fit in the bin instead of the washing machine, however I was still able to ditch a bra, a pair of wedgie-makers and a set of pjs I tore through the butt of weeks ago (why was I keeping those? I don’t even love the material they were made from…). Plodding along in this regard. Doing the 5mins of chores in the morning actually seems to make me more likely to do more in the afternoon as I have been unstacking the dishwasher in the morning and then when I get home from work loading it up again to run while I’m sleeping. On the weekend I hope to branch out to something a little more wild like taking out the trash, or vacuuming.Food Glorious Food: 7.5 Freggies. Banana/Spinach/Berry Smoothie, Carrot, chicken and green veg (broccoli, zucchini, asparagus), ceasar ‘salad’ (the guy smothered it in crutons, there was a whole slice of bread on there at least), apple cake, chai latte.Protein: B. milk, yoghurt, p. powder L. Chicken (not enough, need to pack cheese stick) D. ‘bacon’ bits… not sure that I want to count those as I’m not actually sure it came from an actual pig… Study: Stayed back late at work today to get the best tutorial spot when it opened. Got the spot! In the time I was waiting for the tutes to open I printed all my required readings. I feel a little bad for all the trees I’ve killed by printing those readings instead of just downloading them, but I find a pen and highlighter much more efficient for taking notes. Also as I now walk to work every day I hope my carbon footprint is offset a little in that way. I can only do what I can do. Hair: No new experiments, but I’ve gathered some interesting ideas to try on Sunday. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92 Posted February 5, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 I believe I am not boasting when I call today Rangered (no news on the job front, don’t get too excited!). Walked to work, helped run a three-hour late enrolment session for our postgrad trimester students which involved a couple trips up and down the stairs. Walked home, caught taxi into town with Mr, spent ages deciding what to cook for dinner (we went to three shops looking for an ingredient) before I couldn’t hang on anymore and got a burrito, not too bad a fast-food option and I was brave and asked the staff member to pass me a drink so I could check the lable before I decided. 36g of sugar in one serving, I think not! Once we finally finished shopping caught a cab home and did a bunch of chores and played with the cat. My back has flared up a little again today, so I’ll be retiring to bed early and am expecting to have a sleep-in tomorrow. Exercise Points: 2 pts for walking 20,060 5/50. Woot woot, didn’t even really notice the extra steps except towards the end of the day when my back was getting crazy tired. Rangered. Adulting: Teeth: Yes. 5mins chores: 10min in the morning and 15ish in the evening (dishes – away, stacked dishwasher, unstacked dishwasher, stacked dishwasher again, took out compost, took out rubbish bag), plus declutter challenge: bathroom potions and lotions, purged two crappy deodorants (one of which I bought at the hospital kiosk when I had my appendix out 6 years ago- clearly not using that one), an anti-aging cream that someone gifted me (gee, thanks) and I moved a moisturiser I only use to shave my legs to the side of the tub so I’ll use it up for that. Rangered.Food Glorious Food: 10 Freggies. Banana/Spinach/Berry Smoothie, Carrot, chicken, rocket and green veg (broccoli, zucchini, asparagus), 2 pieces of nougat, small handful of flavoured nuts, a banana, burrito. Rangered. Protein: B. milk, yoghurt, p. powder L. Chicken D. chicken, beans.Study: Brace yourselves, I read my readings not for ten mins but for an hour and a half. Plus that’s not a requirement until the 8th. Bam! Rangered! Yasha92 Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 6, 2016 Not so Rangered today, but still a good effort, especially in the chores department. Spent most of the morning doing chores, then walked into town with Mr to get some groceries etc. I found out this morning my sister has been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, so if my smoothie pics suddenly become more artistic it’s because I’m putting them up on Facebook too to try and get a little food-positivity out there. She has another check-up early next week and the Dr wants her to have gained 400g. I have suspected for a while that she was, but getting the confirmation is still hard. Because I don’t live at home anymore I feel pretty useless to help, so I’ll just do what I can :/ Exercise Points: 1 pt for walking 10,445 6/50. Only just made this one, as soon as we got back from the shops I hopped into bed. Adulting: Teeth: Yes. 5mins chores: at a rough guess more like an hour, but it was spread out over 3.5hrs because it was interspersed with youtube videos and eating. Unstacked, restacked, unstacked and restacked the dishwasher. Hung two loads of laundry, brought in and folder one load, folded another load that had been waiting patiently since last time I brought in laundry. Scooped the kitty-litter, washed a load of dishes by hand, took out a bag of rubbish, took out a load of recycling. Declutter challenge: plates and bowls- I didn’t have any non-matching crockery in my people cupboard, but our cat had 4 dishes, I ditched the ugliest and brought it down to 3 (our house isn’t that big, he doesn’t need two different places to eat/drink) also ditched an overly complicated lunchbox that a. isn’t watertight and b. never fits what I want it to in. I found another 2 pairs of underoos while I was folding that had outlived their lives (one mine, one Mr’s) so I pitched them too.Food Glorious Food: 5 Freggies. Banana/Cucumber/Mango Smoothie, cheese stick, chicken, mushrooms, zucchini, onion, cheese stick, crepes. Protein: B. milk, yoghurt, p. powder, cheese stick L. Chicken D. cheese stick.Study: Second last day that it’s not a requirement so~ nope. Hair: Tried out a Lagertha look. It was a bit work-heavy for the end product, so it would never be an everyday style, but it was fun to give it a go. 4 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
