Thus their argument is invalid. I just generally get an idea of how much I eat, measurements + lifts tell me what it does for my body, ergo I achieve a target macro. Im gonna buck the trend here and say I agree with the article that MFP is good for knowing what a serving size is. Most folks have no idea the calorie or the macro content or what a serving size is to know what they are eating. Now, that's not by any stretch of the imagination to say I would eat one "serving" of spaghetti and sauce but it is important for me to know how many servings I am eating. I'm typically eating 2-3 servings of eat or fish per meal but I think it's good to know what that actually is. 4 Quote "For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm." I even cherry picked as well as I can to get 14 decently sized ones, not broken chips. Here is what I got: So the hypothesis I would draw is if I dip my hand in there and grabbed and handful, that would be one serving. A bag of chips like that I should be able to dip my hand in there ten times and get nearly all of them. So the theory I am trying to go by is for large containers of snack foods, a reasonable "serving" size is one handful. I get your point. Making the effort to track yields the educational value of what a serving size is because it is very likely you took the time to read the nutrition label to find out what a serving size is. In the USA there is another bonus: They tell you how many servings there are per container! In Canada, they do not. Maybe it is because metric units are easier to figure out. The point I am trying to troll is how pitifully small a "recommended serving size" is. So when I make spaghetti for myself, it is 4 servings of spaghetti noodles, 4 servings of ground beef, and 4 servings of spaghetti sauce. It might be amusing to cook up a single serving of each and take a picture and post it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Core and Conditioning Work and Lunges today. Folks who say I had a spaghetti and so that should be 500 calories as a serving of noodles and sauce but really ate 1500. 2000 calorie diet is a round number and really appropriate for smallish post menopausal women. If I was accurately measuring a 2000 calorie diet is probably a pretty steep cut for me even as a small framed mid 30s short dude. Oh, and when I am being really anal, I won't count 14 chips, I will weigh out the 28 grams. 1 Quote "For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm." Jaymul
Serving size is an interesting one. When cutting I do actually try and stick to recommended serving sizes because it makes carb management easier but it's eye-opening when you realise that a typical restaurant portion of pasta is about 5 times the recommended serving size! On calories, I found that 2000 calories a day ran me into the ground in about 2 months, even with two big carb refeeds. 1 Quote Battle Log Current Challenge - Jaymul competes and keeps things ticking over Instagram Link to comment

Sam Ashen
Eating a whole crock full of cold chili? I mean, that's what I'd do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Ugh! That's the worst! Taken out of context, but that says it. I like cold chili, but not uncooked chili. Wait. I have not tried it. The beef is mostly cooked. Mostly. ----------------------------- Most articles showing up on FB are stupid. Just. Stupid. However I read an interesting article on Stack about Ladder Drills. They were claiming they hare heavily promoted, but have no transfer to speed and agility. By speed, they mean how fast can you get from Point A to Point B and they used the 40 yard (36.56 meter) dash as the standard and they say it is based on how much force can be applied to the ground in each stride. They say it is best trained by training unilateral and bilateral strength and power and heavy Ladder Drill training will teach a short stride and no applied strength and power. The same argument applies to agility. (Think Shuttle Run.) Apply force to ground to change Velocity. It was such an interesting article I actually scribbled notes. In general, I considered Ladder Drills to be for Footwork coordination and the transfer would be to something like boxing where I want the footwork to match the handwork and I don't want to find myself facing my opponent with the legs crossed and the hips in no position to be aimed at the opponent. Tools and applications.
