Jord
going to take a break from the gym today, have a meeting at 1 I have to prep for and I really don't feel like walking around on this ankle any more than I have to. I might bitch myself out after the meeting and take a late lunch and actually get to the gym, feel like this is just an excuse. CongratsWas not actually trying to brag, if it came across that way. Been so long it feels normal now. I mentioned it only to add to the mass of data that frequent weighing of oneself is instrumental in weight loss. littlewings
I have the same issues with ankles - sprained them a bunch of times and also mystery sprains (I'm pretty certain I sprained it in my sleep)... and now I've got tendinitis in my anterior tibialis. Have you iced it at all? That usually speeds up the healing for me!But hurray lifting despite demon ankles! Quote Link to comment
Gainsdalf the Whey
I always suck at icing them, too much moving around, too much to do. Missed 2 gym days last week due to the ankle, though I really could've made it one of them and just done upper body. Because of that I only OHP'd once, though I did DL on Friday. It was terrible, amazing what a layoff does there. I'll get it back. I believe I made 4 weigh ins. Didn't weigh today because the salt from yesterday would throw everything off and I don't like entering outlier datapoints, so I am waiting for tomorrow. Trying to keep the intake low today to make up for 7 beers yesterday, though I didn't eat a terrible amount. Did well with the phone this weekend. Gainsdalf the Whey
Got to the gym. Pressed up to 165x3. Think my all time rep PR there is 5, so I've got some catching up to do. Squats felt terrible today, so I hit 415 for a single and did a 365x3 back-off and was done there. Found out that our dumbbell rack goes up to 150, going to have to take advantage of that and work Kroc rows up. Thinking maybe alternating between lat pull-downs and Kroc rows each day. Opinions welcome here. Looks like I'm the featured mod on the NF facebook today, that's fun. Thinking something like: Asquatbenchlat pulldowndumbbell row Bsquatpresslat pulldowndeadliftcurls This would get me my vertical and horizontal upper body push and pulls, have me squatting every day, and work deadlifts in. Gainsdalf the Whey
261.7 this morning. Noticing a small amount of definition between the fibers of my delts when flexed, which had gone away. It's the first place that I can typically see progress when dropping bodyfat, followed by my triceps and forearms. These both have to happen before my belly shrinks appreciably. I don't know what the next thing is because I've never lost that much weight since I've started lifting. All of this points at a little bit of recomp, which makes sense since my weight has been about the same, but my lifting numbers have gone up a smidge. I'm cutting the eggs out of Mon-Fri plan for the next week or two to see if that helps bump me in the right direction. It also takes out a huge chunk of my morning food prep. Leaves me with 10 oz chicken breast, 3 cups green beans, and 250g-300g yam for lunch, a banana for a snack, and 3-4 oz of whole milk in my coffee for a total around 930 kcal. The big thing here will be making sure I am eating enough to not get lightheaded around 5. If that starts happening, I'll add in another fruit or other carby snack later on in the afternoon. Interestingly enough, this will result in me working out fasted beyond my morning coffee and not eating until around 12:30-1, which means I'm basically moving into an IF protocol during the week. Gainsdalf the Whey
Haven't updated in a bit, haven't even been on the forums in almost a week. Anywho, Wifey had tonsils out and I've been taking care of her the last week. Haven't touched weights at all, so that sucks for squatting everyday, but should have gotten me completely recovered to do the lifting comp when I eventually get in there, so silver lining. I HAVE gotten on the treadmill twice in that time though, so on track there. Up to running for a mile at the start at 5 mph, would love to work back up to 2 miles at 6 mph. I could handle the straight distance now cardio wise, not the speed, but I need to ease my feet into it to avoid stress fracture injuries that I tend to get. I only weighed once that last few days because, since I've been home all day every day, I haven't been showering first thing in the morning so I haven't been nude and fasted by the scale much. On the plus side, when I did weigh, I was down around 258, so progress. Would love to get into the 256 this week then make a push for 250 next month, which would be a 4.5 year low for me and the lowest I've weighed since joining NF (was 251 then). Looking forward to looking at pictures of 251 me then vs 251 me now with all the muscle I assume I've put on. My progress pictures from back then are sorta shitty though (page 1 of my battle log), so who knows. Gainsdalf the Whey
Weighed 258.4 again this morning. My scale has memory and I hates it. Anyone have a cheapish scale option that has no memory and will give a true reading each time? Good about no phone, think this goal is a habit now and I can do something else next time. Deadlifted today, will be short on press this week. Did so as part of the virtual lifting comp, where I just missed PRing bench. Need to dial in the heavy squat form, 475 should be there if I'm on point, which I'm very happy with at this bodyweight during a deficit. 545 on deadlift broke the floor but stalled mid-shin and grip started to go. I'm just happy it broke the floor with the fact that I've only DL'd 2-3 times in the last few months. 1 treadmill short for the challenge so far, probably get it tomorrow night. Maybe tonight, we'll see. Fatigues my lower back oddly enough.
