Soooo I am being super boring goals wise and doing nearly exactly the same goals as last time! To mitigate boring-ness of repetitive goals I promise lots of weird pictures and videos and things just because.

 

GOALS

 

1. Handstand push up progressions - I would like to work this at least 3x per week ). All push up variants count towards this,but I am especially focusing on increasing my AMRAPs on pike push ups, and exercise ball pike push ups. (Standard push ups and diamond push ups will definitely also be a thing, as well as possibly incline push up work if I feel I need more volume.)

 

2. Straight leg straddle and other adv core progressions - I plan to do core work at least 5x per week.  I DID A STRAIGHT LEGGED STRADDLE YOU GUYS. Just 1. I must keep up work on this so I can do more. Aerial days count towards this as well as all other core things I can come up with. I'll be using some of the variations from last challenges core mini for variety, as well as all the stuff in the Cirque du Soleil core and back video from Youtube.

 

3. Pull up progressions - I want to work pull progression work 3x per week. Aerial counts towards this as well as pull variation specific workouts on my pull up bar. I DID ONE REAL DEAD HANG CHIN UP YOU GUYS!!! Must do more. And hopefully also get a dead hang pull up. :D

 

4. Continue pistol squat progression - Continue to work squats 3x per week. I know I am getting soooo close on these.

 

 

LIFE GOALS

 

Part 1 -Don't be a diva - While I could spend my time being pissed off at our director for being difficult to work with because of her massive ego, if I spend time focusing on that and pushing back I could veer towards being obnoxious and diva-y myself. I see how obnoxious that is coming from someone else. I do not want to be like her. Do not want. Do not want at all! My life goal for the first 2 weeks of this challenge (until after my show) is to not let my irritation turn me into someone I don't want to be, and likewise not to let myself be cranky angry panda.

 

Part 1 - No beer! - I am actually planning on no grain at all including bread etc. for the next two weeks, but definitely absolutely no beer until show time!

 

Part 2 - To be decided!! Must figure this out by the end of the show on the 13th-14th

Aerialist life!!!! I feel like if core and pull work didn't come up that would be....weird....

 

The beer one is super temporary for me but it's good to do occasionally AND I have to dance around sexy in lingerie in front of 100 people in like 2 weeks soooo...yeah. =P

Week 1, Day 1 Report

  • Hand Stand Push Up Progression - 1 of 3 per week completed

Day 1 was aerial day! In spite of being not max power because of ALL THE CORE on Sunday to test AMRAPs for the last mini.... it was actually a pretty decent day!  I did a lot of lyra stuff and am getting slightly less abysmal at it! I actually am remembering skills and the things she added on last night were all things I could do. YAYS.  (I didn't get around to working the trapeze stuff somehow though...woops!)  My bicycle climb on silks last night was just not happening -- clearly something I need to practice! We did push ups and squats in our warm up so this day ended up hitting on all the goal things!  (Also I wish so hard that Nichol always taught that class. I love her teaching style! Definitely reminds me that I need to go take non-Jill classes more often. If only the other teacher's stuff would fit in my schedule.....)

I <3 bicycle climb. It's so fun and mechanical looking. :)

 

And all-goals-in-a-day = winning!

 

I love the way it looks but I apparently suck at it. ARGH. I feel like I've been more successful at it in the past....I couldn't even get started last night. Much flailing. So fail.

Reviewing video of how to properly do it I think my issue was I wasn't piking back to hold the silk in place on the initial foot so I could never get tension to start the second foot. >.<

For reals. I have to remember it starts from the same position as a standard footlock....which I rarely do these days either but I at least know I know how to do those muscle-memory wise! Why I could not brain and remember this last night I do not know. Argh.

I have officially finished eating my grainy leftovers and henceforth there shall be no grains until after the show on Feb 14th!

This reminds me I'd like to bust out some baked eggs w/veggies and meat etc. in ramekins again..but I really need to get some ramekins with lids because last time I made these this = ramekins bleeding beet juice all over my lunch bag. Ugh. I love the baked egg tho for ability to cook it at a nice stage of runny yolks and it doesn't totally cook to dead dead overcooked in the microwave for lunches.

I love Blue Apron!  I'm only doing boxes biweekly these days because I am a crazy overbooker and it takes me that long to get around to cooking 3 times buuuut loves it!  Definitely keeps me from getting in culinary ruts :D

Ahahaha.... We have reached the level of fit-person-ness where I say "well I did some of that last night but it was so easy I don't know if it counts" but really it wasn't that easy for your average human so meh. And it was on back to back days soooo it's probably good that it was super crazytastic anywho. Also...dance class ab workouts feel so minimal now compared to the crazy shit that is aerial. I did not realize when I was younger that hanging upside down takes SO MUCH ABS ARGH.

 

Anywhooo!  Last night was dance night. I was tired and like "argh I don't want to do anything tonight" like I always am the night after a rehearsal night but I went anyway and it was good! Dance = my happy place. I know this, so I make myself go.  I was gratified to learn that my teacher has the same dance turn issue as me -- weird ass modern/contemporary tilt turns and shit I can accidentally end up doing multiples but ask me to do a pirouette and I can only do a single. Lololol. Also, it was a sub but the sub is one of our people who usually takes the class and she's awesome and totally one of my dance fam so <3 yay. And she had us learn part of the dance she just made for a masters program audition and it was funsies! 

 

I also managed to convince someone else in classto do a set of push ups with me. JOIN MY FITNESS CRAZINESS WHEEEE!

I did a quick little workout at home and tested AMRAPs for most things for the mini. Not a ton of volume on anything but a little bit of everything. It was a semi rest day but I wanted to get in juuuust a bit of training because I don't like to have two days completely off in a row!
