These challenges are just going to fly by.

I didn't make enough progress on my goals last month to need to move on yet. The only difference will be no boxing since boxing abandoned me.

Goal 1) 2 long walks/runs per week. I know there are lots of ways to work on cardiovascular endurance but my feet need to get used to pounding up and down the field so longer walks/runs it is. Might be inside on a treadmill or outside depending on weather. For me long is greater than 2 miles.

Goal 2) Rugby 3 days/week. Practice is Monday, Thursday and Saturday. In the event that I can't attend a scheduled practice or we cancel for weather I will replace it with an hour of intense movement of some kind to mimic what I would be doing at practice.

Goal 3) Eating. This is my eternal Achilles heel. Probably always will be. I'm continuing with the goal of eating breakfast at home 5/7 days and adding bringing my lunch to work 4/5 days. By not eating out, I am lowering calorie intake without thinking about it.

Goal 4) That pesky morning routine. It's going well but it's only been about 3 weeks so I'm just keeping this as a goal for at least one more month. This month I'm going for the added bonus of getting up at 6:30 or earlier, because I can't keep getting up at 7:30 am. I need to be on my way to work by then.

I think it's hilarious that one of you named me Bob. I sometimes have iron will power and sometimes absolutely no impulse control. So when I'm leaving the house to go to rugby stuff it sounds a LOT like Bob and Harry negotiating on Bob being out of the skull. That probably sounds horrible from outside my relationship but it keeps us both happy. It's really not as weird as it sounds.

You know, regarding food stuffs...

Ever toy with a faux-intermittent fasting thing?  Hear me out.

So I've been doing a protein shake in the morning for not-quite breakfast, and then a sweet potato and some hardboiled eggs for "actual breakfast."  Really, this ended up replacing what historically was a snack period for me at work, where I'd grab whatever was put out (cookies, cake, trail mixes).  So it kind of had the effect of getting me to cut my calories down by proxy.

Dunno.  Just an idea to float your way.

By virtue of not eating out, I've actually been kind of low on calories. Two weeks in a row now I've woken up at 1:30 am on Tuesday, starving after rugby practice. Apparently a bowl of vegetarian curry was not adequate calories for the practice we had last night. I do like the idea of IF. I pretty much always need to eat lunch but I could get by just fine on two meals a day as long as I concentrate on eating the right things.

The happy medium on food is such a myth!   (Ok I lie, but damn is it hard to get it right.)    When you're lazy you eat too much, then when you get active, you eat to little.    Good gravy!   Can't you make up your mind food-calories!?

I dunno what this Bob-talk is...  But when you called me Star-sis, I thought it was a new funky term for a type of stasis that lets one emerge as a star, and that's kinda cool!

Yay for Rugby. You seriously sound more excited about doing these things now that rugby is involved. :) that's cool

Rugby has always been my happy place. I've also recently discovered that in the context of rugby, I have less general anxiety, less social anxiety, and more confidence. I also am making friends which is something I need but it's causing me to have feelings. I like keeping those feelings walled off. Which is probably why I was about to have a nervous breakdown last summer.

We ordered pizza last night and I was only 44 calories over my target for the day. First day I've been over all week. I'm feeling good though.

Bob is a spirit of intellect who resides in a skull and assists Harry Dresden in his efforts. In the wikipedia page I linked Bob is described as "lazy, wise-cracking and lecherous" which I'm afraid also describes me quite well. LOL

Star-sis just seemed better than Sister Starpuck.

This week has been something else.

I've made it to 1 rugby practice so far. I won't be going tonight since we are going to see Wicked. I will need to make that up. But Saturday should be no problem.

Haven't gotten in any of my endurance stuff. Tuesday I was resting my back and Wednesday I had to go to church. Going to try to squeeze one in somewhere.

I'm batting 0 on breakfasts but I've brought my lunch every day. Hopefully next week I can get back on the breakfast train. Getting out of bed is still just not happening. Need to figure out a good way to encourage changing this.

Still having a lot of emotional stuff happening in my personal life and brain but I think things are maybe going to get better there. Sorry for the vagueness. But you know, the internet.

Hang on in there.  Blaaaaahhhhhh re emotional guff - big hug.

hmmmm breakfast...... needs to be something easy that you can assemble in your sleep......

or something that you just throw in the microwave?????

The week before I did prepackaged oatmeal. I was trying to do something different last week so I don't get burned out. But i think oatmeal may be the winner for now. I can throw the package in my backpack. I have an electric kettle in my office so it's easy to boil water and eat.

We still have three more weeks to rugby ram this challenge! =D

Yes! And ram it I shall!

The best analogy for my feelings is like a boil. You know it's there, you can feel the size and shape of it. But no amount of poking or prodding will get anything to come out. Then one day, often unexpectedly and with inopportune timing, everything comes pouring out. I've been stacking stuff up since a year before my Dad died and it has all just decided it's time to get dealt with.

Feelings are not facts. If they are stopping you from doing what you want to do and being who you want to be, then fight them. :)

The last couple of weeks I've been having trouble knowing which feelings are real and which ones aren't. I'm just plowing through it. I feel a lot better this week!

Week 1 recap

Goal 1) long walks/endurance work. Didn't happen. I didn't do a good job scheduling so it didn't happen. Going to restructure this goal to go along with what coach wants from us.

Goal 2) Rugby practice. I made 2/3. Did not make up my missed practice.

Goal 3) Eating. Did 2/7 on breakfast. Those 2 days were the weekend. But on work lunches I managed 4/5. Very happy with that.

Goal 4) I'm changing this one to getting out of bed at 6:30 am. Score will be out number accomplished out of number of work days.

Schedule for this week

Monday rugby practice

Tuesday off

Wednesday ladder workout prescribed by coach

Thursday rugby practice

Friday ladder workout prescribed by coach

Saturday missing rugby practice for family stuff, hopefully lots of walking and will try to do something with intensity.

Sunday long walk

this is a gruesome and super accurate analogy. I hope that the feelings being dealt with is ultimately as satisfying as a nasty boil burst is!
