Caucus? EternalJourno barely even knows us!

Happy Iowa Caucus Day! Or maybe not so happy depending on the outcomes (results are still coming in). 

Introduction: I'm back for another challenge. The last one wasn't so successful. I had a few wins, but I admit I mostly gave up. But this is something I still think about and still want to do. I'm determined to make some habit changes in my life. But I'm readjusting my quests. I think I tried to do too much all at once right away and it was overwhelming. So I'm going to pull back a little and stick to more manageable quests. 

I am 29 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh about 240 pounds. I am an editor for a local, daily newspaper, so I spend quite a bit of time sitting in front of a computer. Even when I'm home, I'm prone to surfing the Internet and watching Netflix on the couch. I spend a lot of time feeling sorry for myself, but I know that I need to stop that and me some positive changes in my life.

Main Quest: I want to weigh 200 lbs before the end of 2016.

Quest 1: Walk at least 30 minutes a day. 

A = Walk at least 30 minutes 7 days a week. 
B = Walk at least 30 minutes 5-6 days a week. 
C = Walk at least 30 minutes 3-4 days a week. 
D = Walk at least 30 minutes 1-2 days a week. 
F = No walks. 

Quest 2: Drink less alcohol. 

A = 2 drinks per outing. 1 outing per week. 
B = 2 drinks per outing. 2 outings per week. 
C = 3 drinks per outing. 2 outings per week.
D = 3 drinks per outing. 3 outings per week. 
F = Anything more than that. 

Quest 3: Cook more often, eat out less (This is not just a weight loss goal but a money-saving goal).

A = Eat out no more than 2 times a week. 
B = Eat out no more than 4 times a week.
C = Eat out no more than 6 times a week.
D = Eat out no more than 8 times a week.
F = Eat out more than 8 times a week. 

Life Quest: I need to save money. I will budget my funds for the year and review my spending once a month. I installed a new app on my phone that keeps track of my daily spending. I'm hoping this will act similar to a calorie counter that will show me the immediate impact of my spending and force me to change my ways.  

Motivation: Like Lester Burnham in American Beauty, I want to look good naked. Kidding! Mostly. Really though, I want to meet the love of my life and start a family someday. I've convinced myself that my unhealthy lifestyle is getting in the way of those goals. I believe that if I can lose weight and build my confidence, I can better connect with people without doubting myself so much.
