Polgara19
January didn't go well, so I am rebooting my goals. I'm in the middle of reading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive, and I'm finding it very motivating, so I am going to recycle my theme from Jan - sorry! Kaladin Kaladin spends much of his time training. This will be me. I am planning on registering for the Zombies, Run! Virtual Race, and am going to push myself by registering for the 10K. So I will be motivated. I am scaling back my weight lifting though since I'm clearly struggling to get everything done. Train like Kaladin (4 weeks of 10K training)-Goal: Run 3 times a weekWeek 1: 5k, 3k, 3k = 11kWeek 2: 5k, 4k, 3k = 12k Week 3: 5k, 4k, 4k = 13k Week 4: 6k, 4k, 4k = 14k Train like Bridge 4 (2 push/pull sessions per week)-Goal: 2 push/pull sessions per week Shallan Work is really picking up, and so I will be trying to capitalise on that and get as much done as possible. This will now be important for me. I will only eat treats with somebody. This has worked for me in the past, and so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Eat like Jasnah-Goal: No treats alone I clearly need help with this one, so if I manage this, I will buy myself a new work bag. 4 Quote Level 6 Ranger Current Challenge - Scrubs! Polgara19
Ok, so today is off to a good start. I ran 5k this morning for the first time in nearly 3 weeks. I ran on Sunday, but my knees started bothering me after only 10 min or so. This happens whenever I take a break, so I was glad things were feeling better this morning. Also, I officially registered for the Zombies, Run! Virtual race March 30-April 11, so I have motivation to train for the 10K by then! In other news, I am being vetted in French for C, so wish me luck! Kaladin Kaladin spends much of his time training. This will be me. I am planning on registering for the Zombies, Run! Polgara19
Go for it Artemis! Steal away! As for me, I am 3/4 way through Words of Radiance now. Loving it more and more with each revelation and development! I hope the Zombies race works out well. I had gone off Zombies, Run for a while since I prefer to listen to podcasts (shh... i find music boring and not distracting enough), and with a podcast, there is no way for the story to interrupt. However, I have now discovered that if I just turn on both ZR and a podcast, the volume control on my apple headphones will pause just the podcast, not the story. That means I can pause my podcast, listen to the story segment, and go back to Serial or No Such Thing As A Fish, or whatever! Bonus! So I'm back on the ZR wagon! Kaladin Train like Kaladin (4 weeks of 10K training)-Goal: Run 3 times a weekWeek 1: 5k, 3k, 3k = 11kWeek 2: 5k, 4k, 3k = 12k Week 3: 5k, 4k, 4k = 13k Week 4: 6k, 4k, 4k = 14k Train like Bridge 4 (2 push/pull sessions per week)-Goal: 2 push/pull sessions per week Shallan Was successfully vetted in C for both French and English yesterday! They did the first one in the fall, and the next one is at the end of March! It's either a 5k or 10k, and they send you a bib, medal, t-shirt a few weeks ahead. I'm with you about not really wanting music for running. Outdoors, I don't want anything, but since I'm stuck on the treadmill for now, I've been trying out different options. I may have to give this one a shot! Thanks, I was really excited to discover it since while I really wanted to listen to Zombies, Run, I just couldn't deal with music for 40 min! They instituted external music support a bit ago, so thought maybe it would work with podcasts, but they just lowered the volume. Doesn't work if you're listening to something like Serial! Then I tried pausing it, but was worried it would pause the run too - but it doesn't! Did it using the touchscreen for a bit, but realized I could do it using the apple earphones - wonderful inventions! Jasnah This needs a reboot. I convinced myself to slowly slip off the wagon. First, it was just a tortilla and nutella, but yesterday I had a bowl of ice cream and candy while I was alone. Restarting today. Challenges will be decorating a birthday cake without licking the icing bowl and leftover cake later. Actually, cake is easier than some things since we are more likely to have leftovers as a couple so I wouldn't be alone. Eat like Jasnah-Goal: No treats alone Failed. Already. Let's do it again. Polgara19
Finished Words of Radiance on Friday, and... I have no words. I just can't believe this story isn't over! Usually, I finish a book and just want more, but these books are just so satisfying and meaty! Part of me is excited for the next book, but I also think I need time to digest what I've read - because a lot has happened. Brandon Sanderson man. Man. Shallan and Kaladin in the chasms, though really Shallan should be in front Kaladin Ran 3k again today. Halfway down the first block though, the middle of my back seized up! Thought it would loosen, but it's still very sore and stiff. Not a sharp pain, but like a very sore overworked muscle. I've never had anything like this happen, so not quite sure what to do. Have tried stretching, quite a lot of stretching actually, but it hasn't improved. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help. Regardless, I've done my first week of running. tinkerer
It seems like you are at least off to a great start with your running goal! Nice job getting all three of those in this week. I've had a similar thing happen with my back while running. My appraisal is/was that I had some tension in my back from something else (camping once, stress another time) that caused me to run in a different than normal manner and tense things up. I rested a couple days, did some non-aggravating exercises to stretch things out and was back to normal before too long. Hopefully you see similar results! SaltyDragon
Great work on your running! You're doing well. Bad news about the back, though. If like you say, it's just sore muscle, then it's probably no big deal and you'll be able to run through it – just be sure it's not something more serious. Try having someone massage your back, or lie on a foam roller if you have one, and roll around on it. It might help, and even if it doesn't, it feels really good anyway!
