February Feats for Ferrous Ferocity 2016!

Recommended Posts

So I've done my lifts finally

Weight: 133.4kg - I really need to stop gaining weight.

Squats:

Attempt 1: 200kg

Attempt 2: 210kg

Attempt 3: 220kg

Bench:

Attempt 1: 120kg

Attempt 2: 125kg X

Attempt 3: 125kg X

Deadlift:

Attempt 1: 205kg

Attempt 2: 215kg

Attempt 3: 225kg X

So after a really amazing squat result (25kg more than my last PR), I was left with a bad taste in my mouth from bench (10kg less than my previous PR), and then I was a little disappointed with my deadlifts (15kg more than my last PR).

Overall I shouldn't be upset, I managed a 14 point jump in my wilks, despite my weight gain. Next stop 330.

Way to go Junior! The strong really is coming through!

Apparently I forgot to log my name on the sheet last week, but I completed my powerlifting attempts today.

I was overly cautious on my lifts to avoid failure, but I'm still quite pleased with what I accomplished.

Age:  29

Weight:  86kg

Squat:  131.51 / 133.78 / 136.05kg

Bench Press:  106.57 / 108.84 / 111.10kg

Deadlift:  174.60 / 179.13 / 181.40kg

10# PR on my Bench Press, 30# PR on my Deadlift, breaking 400# for the first time ever.  It was a good lifting day.  Hoping to test my Snatch and Clean & Jerk next weekend.

After a year and a half-ish of not lifting regularly (read: at ALL) I went ahead and got mine wrapped up today. I don't remember where I was before on my lifts, but I feel like these are better? Squats might be pretty par to where I was before I stopped lifting, and I think I'd barely broken 100lbs in deadlifting before this run. I've always struggled with bench presses, so I was pretty happy with that (even if I completely botched the third attempt because I got cocky and couldn't move the bar >.>)

Donezo. No PRs, but so close on bench. Stalled 2" off chest at 330. Shoulda just done 325, woulda tied my PR but at 10 lb lighter body, so woulda been a wilks PR. Might just do that tomorrow.

Midbar squats

Belt up

315x1

365x1

415x1

Form was nasty on 465, back caved right out of hole. Have 475 with better form. Will

Keep working. Hitting just deep enough felt weird after going really deep in training for the last few months. Need to work competition depth more.

Bench

225x1

265x1

295x1

Really thought I had that 330 after the 315. Maybe not enough rest. Stalled 2" off chest. Time for spoto work again.

Deadlift

315x1

Belt up

No chalk. Don't know if I'd have had it with it. Looking forward to adding DL day back in more.

I wasn't planning on lifting until Friday, but the school I teach at got snowed out today, so I decided to take advantage of considerably more gym time/longer rests.

Squats:

485 Easy!

500 Easy!

525 Overconfident, got stuck at the bottom. Probably could have done 515 with a longer break.

Bench:

315 Harder than it has been before. I was still tired from Squats.

330 Took forever to get up, but it never dipped back down, so it counts.

335 Got a couple inches up and it stuck. I knew I wouldn't get it today, but I needed a third lift.

Dead Lift: Went with Sumo Dead Lifts.

545: No problems.

565: Tough.

575: This was a battle, but I won!

It was definitely a great day all around, but my squats felt so much better than everything else. Definitely need to figure out how to improve my endurance or recovery for the next challenge.

Good luck!  I finished it early so it didn't overlap with the Open.  :)

Sinclair doesn't normalize between women and men. The women's Sinclair ratio is to get to what you would theoretically lift as a 75+, where the men's Sinclair ratio is to get to what Niccolo would lift as a 105+.

I think I saw a rough swag on Reddit that you would multiply a women's Sinclair by 1.44 to normalize to men's, but that's not a perfect science either since Sinclair is based on WRs and the women's world records still aren't as mature.

So if guys are competing for the NF weightlifting crown, they're almost certain to beat the women (I think Angela hitting PBs is the only one who could beat Niccolo's total)?

As I say, even if I do the weightlifting comp this time, I'm brand new and doing it for lolz, but that seems oddly unfair.

Edited to add: I've just never noticed this before because I'd never looked at the weightlifting side of things other than a "Ooh, look! Someone won!" glance.

I look at Wilks as kg normalized to a girl Spezzy's size.
