February Feats for Ferrous Ferocity 2016!

Recommended Posts

Spur of the moment decision to join in. I never train bench or snatch so those are a bit silly. Reasonably happy with the other 3 lifts, I was playing it safe (just for funs) so no misses, but still got pretty close to my PRs so that's nice. Pleasant.

Snatch: 25 / 30 / 35

C&J: 55 / 57,5 / 58,5

Squat: 70 / 75 / 80

Bench: 25 / 35 / 45

Deadlift: 100 / 105 / 110

Bodyweight 74.2kg in the morning.. I forgot to weigh in before lifting, is that alright or should I just add a kg or 2?

I think it was felt that there weren't enough people competing to make it worthwhile

Yep, it was this. If we get to the point that we can get consistently get at least 3 competitors in each gender for Weightlifting, I'll split it up.

Until then, is there a solution to the issue that Sinclair isn't designed to equalise across gender in the same way that Wilks is intended to?

Matty called me on depth, but I think it would be fine. Anyone else want to weigh in?

I managed to pause the video right near the bottom of the bounce. In that frame, you might be 1/2 inch high, if that. I'd say you probably hit parallel right before or after that frame.

Another option is to have men's and women's champions in both sports, but I know that's not a popular one.

Agree with Madame Sundae. Splitting up the champions would be more fair and less hand wavy.

**waves hand** These are not the droids you're looking for. Damn. Didn't work.

Done and dusted.

Weighed in at 267# this morning, continuing a nice slow downward trend towards 264 by 3/20

Squats 205,210,213PR or 451,462,468.6

Bench 155,160,166 PR or 341,352,365.2

Deadlift 200 or 440#

I'll post the videos later.  The squat PR was a close thing.  The bench was easy.  I put 170Kg on the bar, then talked myself out of a 22# jump between attempts 2 and 3.  Could have had it.  The deadlift is the most I've pulled outside of a competition, so it's actually a gym PR (I always pull more in 'real' competitions).

Very happy with this.

Knee has been screwy so wound up doing the powerlifting side of things and not weightlifting. Very, very conservative on squat and deadlift but only mildly so on bench. Blame Jaymul, mmmkay!

BW: 63kg

Squat:

105kg

110kg

115kg

Massively sub maximal but babying both my glute and knee.

Bench:

75kg

77.5kg

X (no third attempt)

Actually comes out as a Wilks PB, I think. Might have had 80kg but didn't want to risk it and get a bollocksing from coach.

Deadlift:

110kg

117.5kg

122.5kg

Not bad given I haven't gone over 102.5kg since early December and haven't deadlifted at all in almost 6 weeks.

Completed my attempts this morning!  A bit of a mixed bag, but overall I am satisfied.  Rounded here to the nearest whole Kg, though a bit more exact on the spreadsheet.

Squat:

79, 84, 88

This was quite easy (yay!) and boosted my confidence for the rest.

Bench:

52, 57, 61x

Overshot the last one - dreams of big plates led me down the ego path.  I allllllmost had it.  But not quite.  Happy with this.

DL:

88x, 88, 93

Had a strange wonky double hitch in the first one, so I redlighted myself and attempted it again for the second lift.  A tiny bit disappointed in this until I realized that I am probably not fully recovered from Thursdays DL.  So...lesson learned - next time remember to deload properly!

Overall, I am pleased to have participated.  It was fun to lift this way.

Happy that I have a Wilks total, too.  198.26

I participated in the lift comp at the urging of the spouse (above).  It was more fun than a regular workout!

Squat:

86, 93, 102

Felt good to be above body weight on most of these. Form feels good!

Bench:

84, 93, 102

Again, happy to be above body weight.

DL:

111, 125, 143

Just said the heck with it and tried to see if I could get 6 plates on the last one.  Success!

Wilks of 224.11 feels good, though I have nothing to compare it to, since this is the first time I've ever figured it!

Edged on deadlift.  Crushed on the other two lifts on Wilks.

Alright, so here goes (in Yankee pounds here)...

Weight 267

SQ 295 315 335

BP 160 180 200

DL 235 255 275

Not bad for my first time around. I am still on linear progression and started with what my next workout would be. I added 20 on each and completed them all. My DL is week, compared to my other weights. It has to do with falling off the program a few times and deloading 50% when coming back on each time. It got the ratios wacked and I did not know enough at the time to even realize it.

Anyhow, at 20# increase per (and could have gone more) I should have capacity still to develop linearly.

I took my wife and 12 year old son to the Y to spot for me. I put the bar on end on the floor and have my son steady it while I move the supports. He sways it a little and says ,,,

This thing is heavy. You're going to put more weight on it and lift it?

Umm ... yeah ... a lot more weight.

He's never seen me lift. When we're done i ask him ...

So, are you impressed?

Uhhh ... Yeah!

It's always nice to be someone's idol.

Mixed feelings from me - despite being a little heavier (82 kg) than this time last year, which was the last time I posted virtual powerlifting numbers, I came in lower on squat and deadlift. This wasn't at all a surprise - until recently I had been running/doing fairly light weights and high reps - but still a bit disappointing once I'd finished. At least it gives me a good baseline to work from now that I have decided to get back into powerlifting style gym work!

Squat: 115 kg

Deadlift: 130 kg

Bench: 80 kg

Needs work! :)

Screw it, I might as well go hit it today

EDIT:

Decided to play it by ear and while I had some pain during the deadlift it was not as bad as I thought it would be.  I put it in the sheet in kilograms but I pray to Brodin in pounds.  I kinda decided to do this last minute so I am using my last weigh Friday... which is kinda shady but I also knew I wasn't gonna be anywhere near the top.  so at 164.

Squat 260, 265, 275PR

Bench 155, 160, 175PR

Deadlift 285, 300, 325 PR

Learned a lesson the hard way.

you.need.some.preparation

Doing lifting after a day of GOBAD and staying out till 04:30 am, getting up at 08:30 isn't the best combination. Had a concert i attended, and a small afterparty.

Nonetheless:

BW 76

SQ: 115 / 120 / 125 (New PR)

BP: 65 / 70 / 75x (same as previous PR)

DL: x / x / x (No attempt)

SQ felt quite good with the belt, could have gone heavier. Was feeling some muscles in the back but squatting went ok. Hit the 3 weights i set out with a little bit left in the tank.

BP: This one felt about the same as last time, i did change my form recently, so hopefully this allows for some growth.

DL: Pain in the back was really hindering the DL, my PR is 140, i called it quits after 110 during warmup, back was just not happy. Live to fight another day!

... a little odd in the head ...

Just a comment - When you finish your deadlift, it is a controlled drop.  Don't just let the weight go.  Quoting SS from her RT[F]M thread:

"Someone said I could drop my deadlifts, why did that get three reds?"

I have been told it is supposed to be like a Romanian Deadlift on the way down, but in practice it is a controlled drop.

Otherwise - Nice lift!
