Bouncer' Conquest! In real life & Minecraft

Recommended Posts

Well another challenge (awesome!). My third challenge in a row! (out of 4), since I discovered NF back in July.

Well after watching many people having themes, and me wishing for a better way at seeing my own progress and finding fun it it. This challenge I'm giving a trial to see my goal be found  within the world of MINECRAFT! (yeah probably figured that already).

I personally found in games that are 'sandbox' like, I find challenges for the game to give it "more of a meaning". Well that's kind of how my real life is! (However, my rules are at least a little less restrictive then how I get in games).

So yeah tons of interesting rules to share but totally understandable!

Main goal: Achieve my goals one block at a time! Kind of main idea from Steve's blog post from last year. Thought I would mix my real life goals (as they are clearer and more straight forward and very possible to get done) with my MC goals (take over a world with my awesomeness). In MC I'm a single player, but many pics will be on here (will try to spoiler them to slow down loading time).

So rules:

First challenge, have to start building at the place I spawned. Goals are all in "streak" mode. Meaning I should be doing them daily.

Sadly goal stories are not in "game mode", but their progress does control my game play in game.

Goals:

(South) - Bat Cave: Finish 6 chores daily in my apartment

I'm still unemployed but also need to figure things out in my apartment... Varies by day, but each day I will post what my goal tasks are or what I had done for tasks (anything outside of 6 is seen as good bonus days).

A - 100%, on chart I have every day from 2/26 - 3/25 stickered or say *free pass* (+2 STA, +1 WIS, +1 CON )

B - 85 - 99.99% (+1 STA, +1 WIS, +1 CON)

C - 61% - 84% (+1 WIS, +1 CON)

D - 40 - 60%   (+1 WIS)

(East) - Pedometer (walk to Mordor)

I have the hang of wearing a pedometer, and  averaged last month to 4,000 steps a day. So my hope is to be able to hit that daily

A -  Hit 4,000 every single day (+2 DEX, +2 STA)

B -  Don't hit 4,000 up to 7 days, but still average the month (+1 WIS, +1 DEX, +2 STA)

C- Average every week at 4,000, but don't reach it 8-10 days (+1 STR, +1 WIS)

D - More then 10 days don't reach, still average 4,000 (+1 WIS)

F - Not able to reach any goals (+0 Stats )

(West) - Physical Therapy Exercises: Strength & Stretch Upper body exercise plan

Jan. started therapy, ended therapy this week on strengthening my upper body. Need to really work on it this month, because I see my specialist on April 8th and want to be able to tell her 100% true fully how I'm doing. While personally want to see if I can add in planks for the next challenge (goal is to get to push ups)

A - 100%, on chart I have every day from 2/26 - 3/25 stickered or say *free pass* (+2 STR, +2 CON)

B - 85 - 99.99% (+2 STR, +1 CON)

C - 61% - 84% (+2 STR)

D - 40 - 60%   (+1 STR)

(North) - Steps Toward Career: Do 1 "task" daily toward my Career (school/work)

Compared to how I was a month ago, I'm more then ready to take job searching and getting my plans for fall figured out. Need to work on them daily, especially since last week I figured out my "dream'' job right now is to be part of the Minnesota Historical Society. Which requires research. While also I need to figure out my plan to get my four year degree one way or another by this fall, working on this month mainly because I don't have a job in the way and perfect time to tour campuses.

A - 100%, on chart I have every day from 2/26 - 3/25 stickered or say *free pass* (+2 STA, +1 CHA, +1 WIS )

B - 85 - 99.99%  (+1 STA, +1 CHA, +1 WIS )

C - 61% - 84% ( +1 CHA, +1 WIS )

D - 40 - 60%   ( +1 WIS )

Minecraft Gaming Rules:

Beginning of this challenge, my starting point will be the spot where I "spawn". (Where I arrive, see next post for those coordinates)

In each direction I designated a goal, the goal will have its own road made out in that direction (3 across, with wooden blanks at this time). Each road's length is the "max streak count" of each goal. The road lengths of the road show how far I can mine/build from spawn point (doesn't matter how deep or high I go though). This will hopefully not drive me crazy, hopefully will just help me push on forward with my goals. Each "daily streak" will also equal to 10 blocks out for each day (gives me a bit of breathing room).

Road I will build will follow the topography as best as I can make (no going through mountains... or under oceans).

I can play as many in game days, per every 1,000 steps I walked (starting 2/26).  (Trying to get me to"live the adventure" a bit more).

I can also only place as many blocks of how many "tasks" I get done (broke down pieces of daily chores and goals). I've been already able to track these to help me get moving since high school, or get homework done. Now its going to represent all the "blocks or items I place". (Does not count items that stay in inventories: like food or tools. Will not count how much I mine, can estimate how much I place (reasonable of course)).

However, if I save up to 1,000 tasks (unused). I can turn those in for a real life 24 hours not having to worry how much I build. Can not go over days that I walked, but can play less stressful. (Kind of to help if I have quite a few busy days, but save up what I need to do for a game day).

Spawn point 20 blocks above, during 2nd day (a creeper welcomed me to the lands) (Also sorry Debug pic on all just for my sanity...)

(South) Ocean Monument of waiting for me ... Personally not so happy about that... but that's just my scarcity self saying that.

I read the first post and was going to say ' POST A MAP!' but then you have pics in the game so I was left with nothing to say but 'awesome'.

For sandbox games, I consider the sims that and I've thoroughly ruined (or make great?) hundreds of those goofy bastards.

Yeah I'm working on putting "area" pics that I took. And will be putting 'progress', just need attention span to focus/ take some of those pics. All vanilla, so no "area" maps outside of own in game pics.

Yes, also dearly love Sims 2... Building a city with everyone having candy/sweets names, (or healthy fruits and vegetables in Spanish).

Will make sure by tonight I get those pics up... Since I've played 5 in game days already.... and had two creepers aim for my exact spawn point.

Ended up going over the list because I miss counted... yippee. Yesterday, was also the first day I hit all the my goals. I've hit my step count daily so far (even when I didn't want to), and Exercises. Definitely found the need for the streak goals, not used to it one bit.

Today have quite a bit more energy, just using it in the right places.

Bat Cave Daily list

-Do 3 loads of laundry

-Wash all the dishes through the evening

-Clean Kitchen counters & stove top

-Vacuum and wash kitchen floor

-Sign up for tax help

-take out plastic and paper recycling to the outdoor bins

Career list:

-Put fee money into bank

Next up my journey so far in Minecraft, for Bouncer's Conquest.

Okay an official real post for my Minecraft Conquest... Where I find I'm an avoider... or coward (depends on the event for choice of words).

Note: I play mainly Vanilla, but use OptiFine, was told it could help with my computer who hates high graphics to deal with it. (So far it has)

So after the spawn of looking into a tree I was able to look around myself and quickly figure out I have a Spawn of a simple forest.

(looking toward the west)

gallery_42231_2198_215619.png

Looking toward the North

gallery_42231_2198_158860.png

Walked out of "bound" to find my well hidden bonus chest. (Chose to use it as I figure out how to learn my own rules).

gallery_42231_2198_220476.png

Bad pic, but showing all the good stuff. My mouse wandered to cover it up. Was thankful for the bread, since it was slow going finding food.

gallery_42231_2198_104938.png

And a bad, but official photo of the entrance to my very small hobble. (with the help of taking down the nearby trees, reason why I chose at first to use oak planks for the road)

gallery_42231_2198_25513.png

Of course, as I emerged from my home the next ingame day... A Creeper decided to greet me to the forest..... and then proceeded to explode the beginning part of my first road with his joy.

gallery_42231_2198_318647.png

Random pic, to show my "hobble" is where I keep my stuff on the top floor then have a ladder where I progress to at least 50 levels down for my ruthless search of coal.

gallery_42231_2198_110224.png

Couple days later, another door had waited at my door (where I then decided after to ingame days to build a back door). He was so happy to see me he blew up first entrance and spawn site... .

gallery_42231_2198_44344.png

A happy pic of all the meat sources nearby have ran for the water... which of course is exactly where my borders haven't reached yet for streaks (was a bit of needed encouragement).

gallery_42231_2198_184263.png

My back entrance does not have a door... after the issue with the first one I'm using cobblestones (which uses up two points each time). It goes out to the first Creeper explosion area.

gallery_42231_2198_79420.png

The view down to the entrance of my hobble.

gallery_42231_2198_138578.png

Ended up getting down to level 48, where I found my first iron deposit (picture couple posts before). Was going to make this a tree farm room, but where you see the flowers is where the unlit cave is. And the tree sprouts were where the border was at to the W/S when I was mining the entire thing. Ended up finding a few more iron deposits... but no coal. So apples and the one close enough chicken where the only food sources at the moment. Have a couple eggs, since as I get a few more going to have a chicken farm somewhere....

gallery_42231_2198_226500.png

Giving up on the bottom layer until I gain enough streak points to explore it (and all the skeletons/zombie noises where annoying). I decided to start to mine a room at the same level my back entrance came from.

gallery_42231_2198_272437.png

Kind of happy I did, since I found my very first coal deposit! (And it was huge!). Was using charcoal, which even though with me being in a forest the amount of trees I had within my boundary at first wasn't helping. By the time I found coal though, the use of wood was less of a worry.

Then the West!

gallery_42231_2198_330723.png

We'll just keep this post to the first in game week! Finally getting the hang of how to keep track of the boundaries outside of the roads and this next in game week I will start building above ground a bit more. Along with a better food source.

Thanks Stealth, had two days in a row now! Hoping for a third one today!

Having an emotional today, not able to deal with a lot of noises (to the point I'm annoyed with my likes and dislikes of music). Today if I was at school, I would be taking a day off and staying in bed or hiding underneath something as I tried to deal with myself.

Think I'm hitting the wall with my endurance ( just a little). Since I've walked more in 4 days in a row (the most I've done in the last month if not a couple months). Along with finishing this many chores is quite a bit for me...

Found out what my "favorite" recliner is today, my mother gave me a "realistic" talk though after I had hung out at the furniture store for a couple hours. The recliner I chose would be too big to get through my doorway... (which in a mater of speaking of me moving at least once a year or more in the next five years not ideal). (imagine a 'lazy boy' at the widest and tallest)

Then the sad story of the unable to happen recliner, turned into a teary discussion of having to really start working on making "my stuff" always work for me. She said "my apartment", but I don't imagine myself staying hearing without going crazy. So yeah so for this challenge, part of my "chores" will be to do research on organizing/furniture ideas on what I think will workout for me and the give a trial. If it doesn't work out in the next two months (especially through 2 shark weeks) back to the drawing board.

So yeah, daily tidbits on how I'm putting together stuff or getting rid of stuff. Since this is the only place I seem to be able to "process, act on, and figure out afterwards". When my mother says "journal" I translate to "forum".

Challenge themes can be a great help and it sounds like you've tied things in nicely with real life.  Gamification is fun!

Yup, yup. Months of brainstorming is finally turning out and going well!

Well I've been on top of it this week! Yesterday was a struggle to get all my steps in (actually had to walk in place before I went to bed...). But I think I'm going in the right direction. Back in Jan. and last month I had hit the wall for upper body strength training and stretching, now I'm seeing the results of "if headache do band exercises, and wall push ups with a good stretch - headache gone, along with driving for hours without a headache".

The doing so many goals a day though is being difficult, step count I've been fighting for (yesterday I actually had to march in place right before I went into bed to get to 4,000). Along with the knowing I can never get to 4,000 without doing a walk outside (or in public places...).  Glad I'm doing this now though, as I work on getting a job and start school.

Career wise, working on one step at a time. Along with daily control of emotions about worry of work or school (hard one), and life itself.

Figured out a fine I had at my ex-college, got it wavered. So now waiting for the office to switch me so I can figure out where I'm at. Along with the ability to actually apply to college, and tell fully at visits where I'm at.

Today I also had my comfy office chair get built..... Took some patience and pleasantries to get through it (the guys from the assemblers had to drive a few hours, with traffic). While also having an interesting conversation with one of the guy's goals (both where originally from Africa, he has a pharmacy degree, just needs to save up money to be able to pay and get one here). They where happy I wasn't mad because they got lost, and who knows what stress out people they meet daily just to get things assembled.

End of day comfy chair and interesting story conversation about being thankful (have a feeling an angel was with this one).

Okay other goals, sorry I write so long. Chores where easy enough to figure out the past few days, had laundary caught up for awhile there and now things need to be washed again (easy chore though).

Today I came up with a plan for papers, use binders for active papers "bills, career information, magazines I need to read and return, tax info). Just need to find the  right place and will be go time. Then filing system for everything else I need to save. Since I do use filing, just need to clean them out and "wha lah", back to basics!

Also I ended up with 4 binders, so I call each of those binders a chore in themselves for today as I have half my table back xD

Minecraft goals, was stumped where to go. My picture taking is awful right now. But, I am going to end my road from crossing oceans (such as the one that is directly south with that lovely temple), and start a coastline road (with in the streak boundaries), if that makes sense?

Kind of want to keep the idea that "I'm taking over my continent first, and know it well. Next to making trade routes with villagers. Have had a couple years of brainstorming, just not the right incentive...

Been watchng "Let's Plays" (rendog, if your curious), and found I need to make a lore story before I get into building. Since I'm dumb founded where to start. I know the Spawn point is "holy/spirtual" because it is the point of birth (along with 0,0 whenever I find it). Just not sure how to present it for myself.

Good job on getting your steps in! There are some pretty funny stories around here about people walking in circles before bed to hit their counts, so you aren't alone in this.

Isn't it nice how once you start making chores something you do regularly how they don't seem so bad? I really like the binder idea to help you get things straightened and organized.

Also, re: chores: I had a really big reset on my chores where I basically figured out how frequently certain tasks need to get done, and then made myself daily/monthly/weekly checklists.  It was a huge help and I'd be happy to talk about it more if it sounds useful to you.

I think my stories are going to get funnier, as the first week finishes up for me and 4,000 steps seems to get longer.

Very, I've found dishes to be a bit more fun because "so many easy task points to add toward MC!" First time since I quit my last job in Nov., where my kitchen is clean and actually checked the mail daily.

Amazing challenge! I don't live in MN anymore but did for many years.  The MN Historical Society is great, and I hope you find your way towards a job there!

Thank you buddy! Yeah I hope so too, as I put in my second application and have at least two more positions that where posted to sign up.

I actually tried doing something similar for sometime, but in the end it kept falling apart. Jumping up to do 6 things daily (and work with myself on goals), has somehow worked.

I might be chatting up though if I'm looking for more ideas when I have to get into more routine with a job and later on in the fall school.

Goal for the next 24 hours is to give you guys a "story update" of my Minecraft. Been watching the new season of Hermitcraft (a group of people who play on the same game and do youtube videos). So much inspiration...

Finally figured out some goals... with the help of sitting my butt in my new chair (so soft, butt is so happy after hard metal and camping chairs, along with being so durable...). Sadly harder for me to get up, but that's just the second week wall talking.

Update on fishy (aka Tony). Had a filter in for a week in his 5 gallon tank, the white gooey stuff only showed up yesterday. Only seems to get bad as the water goes down a bit. Today I realized his water is about as cold (colder then any water I can get out of my faucet). Read ONE site, and got a tip that a filter shouldn't be necessary as long as I replace water daily. And with my new cup routine, I'm going to try it.

My mom wouldn't let me buy a tank heater, but said she would help me get a curtain for my kitchen to block a walk way. I have a gas stove, and am trying to cook more so should help trap in heat for him.

I'm an overemotional when it comes to my fishy, and my mom just rolls her eyes at me.... She says she has a feeling how I'm going to be over at least one grandbaby in the far future.

Okay so new daily chore going to implement: Change Tony's water (stir up water, take out junk, replace with new water), treat once a week, and at least once a week if not more buy bottled water for him. Along with wiping down the microwave (after realizing in the past day of my imagination went with icky microwaves).

Darn it! Was going to make this short.

Random pic day, I've been staring at my arms and shoulders quite a bit the past few days. And I thought I would share the view.

Don't really have any of my "before pics" up online, but progress pics!

(Results from almost 2 months of doing Physical Therapy exercises on and off, a month going to clinic's gym)

(also using my old laptop's camera, only camera where I was able to upload right away)

gallery_42231_2212_31773.jpg

I have a long way to go....  Since the "stern/concentration" face was from the focus of trying to get a good pic as my arms are shaking...

I've never really showed off my arms (if anything I count the flaws), or i just enjoy being able to use them since I like my hands on my computer. Had been annoyed with them for a decade, as neck spasms would create pain through out my arms.

My arms I would say never been my weakest until recent years, but haven't been the strongest since puberty (but I can say that with every body part).

Just wanted to share... The small structure I built as I'm tearing down the wall of chronic headaches (which now can be forgotten with a workout), and weakness with heavy lifting is slowly going away.

Okay another day, and no post today about Minecraft (though that's all I wanted to do today... the only reason I haven't joined a server yet is because I don't think my "basic/old" laptop can't process everything. Goal for this week is to get a new charger for my other computer. Since I'm destroying the battery with it being empty for a month now... jeesh time flies.

Minecraft on my brain, I found "smaller community" let's players (200 followers, not even 100 views per a video). Which kind of puts my hopes in perspective... Since I like the community aspect and pics are tough in MC.

I did get a map mod though! (JourneyMap) So here's a map for my update on Day 30!

gallery_42231_2198_66636.png

(the circle is me practicing making.. circles xD  I'll post a pic or two when I finish the one building that I think is just going to be storage.)

Okay what else! This week is a boss challenge! xD Shark Week!

cdfd8b5decbddc7f76eba3bd50194da0.jpg

Okay not really, but my goals will be going through the test of "are they made for long lasting", since even though compared to last summer..

But its a challenge, especially how my endurance has been telling my 'old self', lets go watch Netflix all day... and do nothing else but make a mess!

Yeah interesting.

On top of this! New rules I'm implementing!

  • Every 10 day streak, not only do I get a "free be" pass, I also get a free hour of placing blocks! (as long as I don't go over the in game days) Can be broken apart.. but needs to be noted in Journal or on the forums
  • Bonus time when I read up! A minute per a page of free block placing! I've found I have too many magazines and books I need to be going through and reading up (especially in the next month, when my hopeful job comes through).
    • When I go through magazines the pages will add up, but at least I'll find what I'm looking for and get rid of things. I love books but haven't been sticking to them.
  • With Adventure Mini this week, I'm adding another 11 wall push ups to my Physical Therapy exercises (I do 12 reps of like 1 set of 10 different exercises). Should be doable, and see if it helps!

Thank you Chris! Personally can't wait to see my left arm catching up.

Ugh yesterday and today... partial insomnia and hitting 70 degrees in March, me don't like (I'm more of a 40 - 60 degrees girl).

Sensitivity, but looking for distraction.

Yesterday I used up all my Freebee passes, so to save my streaks today I made a goal to keep trucking (ended up making a quick trip to Arby's for a needed Reuben and my first Mint shake of the year). The fries I regretted getting... only ate them on the way home because I was so hungry.

To help me, I've been hanging around NFA on facebook and came up with the idea of playing my world and getting chores done:

Simply from my own home computer, the world is falling apart piece by piece (that's how it feels sometimes when I can't think straight). I need to make sure I maintain my base to be able to explore new lands with the *awesome robot name here*. I can only stay in connection long enough as how much time I put toward the base. The hope is, I will have the base readied when I *goal idea here* to continue on my dream of exploring.

Little iffy, but I can see my apartment just falling apart every hour (literally, another thing makes a mess). I guess I should be happy I have the mental health of being able to get up and do it! (Last month, was bad). Just need the right mentality, and thankfulness of not having to be anywhere right now (or tomorrow).

Yesterday I did get a new charger cord (free from the nice computer guy, and able to keeping my computer going). I asked for a new one, since my last one overheated so badly when I played demanding games (3K cheaper laptop...) So yeah enjoying computer, and playing Minecraft with an actual mouse (whole new world), but gave up trying to figure out how to transfer my game and loading everything up....

And of course I chose a different seed.... "Nerd Fitness Rebellion", and a bit adventurous so yeah interesting goals! And kind of threw out the first week world (not really just not doing it right now).

I know, the weather up here is so weird right now.  I got in a nice walk to break in my new running shoes.

I always found exploring in Minecraft a bit frustrating.  I got lost so often and couldn't find my way back to my base .....
