I bowed out near the end of the first challenge of 2016 and didn't participate during the second.  I'd been horribly ill for almost a month after Christmas, I was dealing with my emotional issues over a family member who was suicidal and had just been released from the Psychiatric Clinic, I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn that my greatest musical idol, David Bowie, had passed away, I lost a friend/co-worker to suicide, I hated everything about my job, was dealing with my own depression, and suffering from intense physical pain from stress.

 

I was feeling lost and hopeless.  I couldn't have cared less about anything really.  But then something happened.  I was offered a different job within the school district.  It was a step up with a pay raise.  The office is located much closer to my home, I wouldn't be in the high school, I wouldn't have to deal with teachers, students, parents, the general public, and other secretaries that pass off work to me that they don't want to do just so that they can kick their feet up and do a lot of nothing all day.

 

I graciously accepted the offer.  

 

I now work in the Insurance/Benefits Office for the district.  I've been in the new position for about three weeks now, and I absolutely love it.  I have lots to learn, but a wonderful teacher/boss.  

 

I honestly haven't felt this happy in so long.

 

My new boss has health and fitness goals very similar to mine and we go for walks every day, twice a day on our breaks.  She is nearing the end of a Whole30 and has educated me greatly on the rules of that program.  I don't know if I'll ever do the Whole30, but I would like to try some of the recipes for dinners.

 

I also think that our outdoor walks twice a day has helped with my mood.  The sunshine, the fresh air, the ability to get up and around from sitting all day at a desk...  

 

I feel like I'm in a good place right now.

 

All that being said, here are the goals I want to work on for the next 4 weeks:

 

MAIN GOAL

Get back on track

 

1. At least 8,750 steps Monday-Friday (one point awarded for each day step count goal is met)

GRADING:

Steps

A = 18-20+

B = 15-17

C = 13-15

F = >13

 

2. Inversion Table/Foam Roll at least three (3) times per week

GRADING:

Inversion/Foam Roll

A = 10-12+

B = 7-9

C = 4-6

F = > 4

 

3. Yoga/Stretching at least two (2) times per week

GRADING:

Yoga/Stretching

A = 7-8+

B = 5-6

C = 3-4

F = > 3

I'm gearing up to do a Whole30.  I'm terrified and excited.  I have a lot of reading and prepping to do before I start next week!  So, I'm off...
