stealthstitcher
Week the Fourth: In Which There Is Rest and Recovery The wonderful (and better-known) Studio Ghibli flim is more inspired by than based on Howl's Moving Castle. There are some significant differences in plot. I was going to make this week about adapting (like a movie adapted from a book) but honestly, I'm exhausted so instead I'm going focus on resting and getting my sleep schedule, eating habits, and workouts back on track. Goal 1: Workout 3 times over 5 days I want to complete 3 workouts during the week, but not necessarily all at once. The goal will be to finish three workouts worth of exercises over five days. If I feel like doing a whole workout all at once, I will. If I want to do half in the morning and half in the evening, or a set whenever I have time throughout the day, I will. Goal 2: Recover sleep schedule Go to bed by 10:00 every night, in order to make up lost sleep and get back to my usual sleep schedule. Moving getting-up time back by 15 minutes every day until I'm back to my usual wake up time. Goal 3: Recover eating habits Meals have been all over the place the past week; some days it was random snacking whenever there was time, some days it was regular meal breaks but at weird times, some days it was nothing at all for long periods followed by all three meals in one. I'm going for the simple goal of protein and vegetables at every meal. Bonus Goals: Take a day off work and do only what I want to do. I never do this ... it's really time. Think about/research/plan possible future adventures. 4 Quote Stealthstitcher "You see, what you've got to consider is: are you going to be the hero of this 'ere adventure, or ain't you? stealthstitcher
Did a full workout yesterday and now my arms and upper back/shoulders are DOMSing like crazy. I only missed one week! Sleeping ... well ... I turned back into a hibernating bear in order to recover my lost sleep. I did not eat any vegetables or protein at breakfast or supper yesterday because ... well, I decided not to set my alarm and just sleep as long as I needed to. I figured, going to bed at ten, there's no way I would wake up any later than eight. Ha. So I grabbed yogurt as I ran out the door. Then when I came home, I thought "I'll just sit down on the couch for a minute" and yup, totally fell asleep. Woke up long enough to brush my teeth and change into pajamas and went to bed. And slept until 7:30 this morning. However, having basically slept through most of a whole day, I appear to be recovered. Had some broccoli and eggs this morning (my favorite breakfast; I probably have broccoli and eggs four or five times a week) and am set to get back on track. Though I think I will either just take a walk or do a legs-focused workout today and just do some stretches for my arms. Regarding adventures, I realized that I'm very hesitant to put the things I'm interested in out there. Honestly, while I like to think that I don't care what other people think, the truth is that when I say I'm interested in something and the response is a puzzled or disdainful, "Um ... why?" I curl back into my protective shell of secretiveness. So I'm going to bravely and without fear of scorn start listing the things that I may want to incorporate into my epic quest. Next challenge I plan to take my list and break it down into the things I need in order to accomplish those adventures and the excuses and obstacles that are keeping me from doing them. But for now, in no particular order and including adventures both large and small: Finally finish the World's Longest Remodeling Project Take a yoga class Learn to swim Hike all the trails in all of Indiana's state parks Backcountry camping/hiking Do a cartwheel Learn Japanese Do a triathlon (Why this appeals to me, I have no idea. I usually avoid anything competitive and involving groups of people like the plague.) Rock climbing Learn something martial-arts-y (No idea on what.) Design and build a truly awesome cutter/draper's utility belt Design and build a wardrobe worthy of a ninja stealth stitcher (cause my usual jeans, t-shirt and cardigan are comfy but ... a bit boring considering I'm a costumer) List to expand as idea occur to me. Suggestions welcome. 2 Quote Stealthstitcher "You see, what you've got to consider is: are you going to be the hero of this 'ere adventure, or ain't you? You can't 'ave it both ways." - E. MichiruSedai
I love your adventure list!! I'll be working on Japanese at some point too, since a huge item on my list is to visit Japan! I also love the hiking goal. I am hoping to do some of that around my state this summer. So many pretty places to see! 1 Quote Level: 15 Race: Human Class: Adventurer (Sailor Senshi/Aes Sedai) STR: 14 DEX: 12 STA: 16 CON: 28 WIS: 26 CHA: 15 (unspent points: 6? challenges worth) Weight Loss Progress (SW 12/5/15 272) Mini-Goal: Get back down to my low 152.2 - SW 6/1/17 170.4 - CW 6/10/17: 166.6 regained the last few months - back on track losing in June My Battle Log|My NF Character Sheet Challenges: 1/16-2/16-3/16-4/16-5/16-6/16-7/16-8/16-9/16-11/16-12/16-1/17-2/17- Link to comment

I've been using Memrise to study but I'm about to hit a roadblock in terms of actually practicing speaking. Reading, writing and listening - no worries, all easily available online. Actual conversation ... problematic. Not only finding opportunities but also making myself do it. I mean, half the time I don't want to talk to people I already know in English. Talking to strangers in a language I haven't mastered? Time to hide in my cave. Speaking of ... the wind blew down a rotted section of fence separating my neighbor's yard from mine. I went out yesterday to fix it and my neighbor came out at the same time. We've never actually met (I think he's a night shift guy) despite living next door to each other for seven years. He came over to help, which was good because I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to lift an 8 foot section of privacy fence by myself, but it threw me into immediate panic mode. Oh no! It's a human! It's speaking to me! WhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo?!? Eye contact - yes? No? Too much? Should I say a thing? What thing? Shoot, he said a thing and I was too busy panicking to hear him! Humans are hard. As to goals - vegetables yes. Getting to bed by 10 ... not quite, 10:30. Working out, only if you count digging up concrete chunks and lifting fence sections. I'm taking my day off tomorrow, so I need to get all the housework done today so I'm not bothered by it tomorrow. Too many times, I have had a day off and ended up spending it doing nothing but cleaning and laundry. I don't have any particular plans. Probably just relaxing and nothing-ing. Maybe some window shopping. 2 Quote Stealthstitcher "You see, what you've got to consider is: are you going to be the hero of this 'ere adventure, or ain't you? You can't 'ave it both ways." - E. stealthstitcher
Today was my day off! I'm always torn - if I do stuff, I'll think "I should have stayed home and relaxed!" If I stay home and relax, I'll think, "I should have gone out and done some stuff!" I opted for relaxing. Spent the morning reading, took a nap in the afternoon. It was a good day for it, all rainy. Went and checked out the new grocery store in town, which I'd wanted to do but hadn't gotten around to. Not impressed. But it was crazy crowded. People around here do love new stuff. When a Golden Corral opened a couple of years ago, the line wrapped the building ... for several weeks. It's ... not that exciting, guys. However, goals did not happen at all today. Woke up late, didn't work out, didn't eat regular meals because I didn't feel like it. This'll be the last post for this challenge. I'm off to visit my parents for Easter - the land of incessant desserts, candy, and meals based around pasta and cheese. Always a challenge there. 2 Quote Stealthstitcher "You see, what you've got to consider is: are you going to be the hero of this 'ere adventure, or ain't you? You can't 'ave it both ways." - E.
