Got in my work out tonight!

 

Filed my taxes and realized that with the refund money, I'll be able to completely pay off my debt, which was one of my goals for this year. Didn't realize I'd accomplish it so early in the year!  I am super excited!!  I can't even remember the last time I didn't have some sort of debt.  This is definitely a benefit of having divorced a few years ago - at the time, I accrued more debt (setting up separate household, moving, etc) but it is SO MUCH EASIER to live on a budget when you don't have someone else spending money out from under you.  :P

 

Anyway, back to challenge talk.  Um... not much to report?  LOL.  I got in a solid work out tonight at the gym while my son had his swimming lesson.   I also signed up for a family event at a place in town on Saturday, so that will be this week's adventure. It's a literacy/family reading time promotion type event.  It's free!  And we get a free children's book.  Free admission + free book = sign me up!

 

I had a really rough day today so I'm pleased that this evening has gone so well and really turned my mood around.  :D

Partially to celebrate, I purchased two tickets to this concert!  I was supposed to go last year with the person I was in a relationship with.  Well, he completely shattered my heart, and Zelda has been something I've been slowly reclaiming (Zelda, among other things, was something we bonded over - he, my son, and I played through my favorite Zelda game as a group activity over the course of months).  I don't have anyone to go with me at this point - I haven't even attempted to date since things went poof last October, and none of my friends are both interested and local - so, perhaps the second ticket won't get put to use, but if nothing else, I AM GOING DAMMIT!

 

If that's not an adventure I don't know what is.

That sounds cool, Sylvaa!  I also want to get to the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds at some point. Last year when it played near me, it was on 12/26 and 12/27, so I wasn't able to make it with my family's holiday plans!

 

I'm sad to say the last few days have not been good for my challenge.  I've been in bed fighting a nasty case of what I assume is strep throat! If I still feel blarg tomorrow, it's off to the doctor.  I guess it didn't affect my challenge too badly since for the week I'd already made a new recipe, and gotten in 3 workouts. I'm definitely being nice to myself by making myself rest. The only thing that didn't happen was the adventure I had planned for Saturday.  I decided rather than penalizing myself for something that was truly beyond my control, I'll give myself the chance to make it up by getting in an extra adventure sometime in the next two weeks.

 

And now... back to bed.

Feeling a little late to the party this week, but I think I found an adventure to go on tomorrow (got invited to a "tapas & tunes" event at a local restaurant), I picked a new recipe I will be making this weekend, and I am planning to work out today-Th-Fri. Yes. Three in a row.  Because I have no guarantee of the time to work out this weekend with my plans, and I wasn't able to workout earlier this week with the whole strep throat/in bed sleeping issue.

 

I'm starting to think about goals for next challenge because I realized last week is the last week of this one.  So far, March is zooming on by.

Yesterday I got to mark off a big item off my Epic Quest - I am debt free for the first time in at least a decade!!  Now I'm going to start a savings account for an emergency fund and a travel/adventure fund!

Totally off topic, but in your signature, how do you get your challenge links to line up all nice like that on the same line?   I tried to condense mine to that, and it made them all the same link.

 

I've done that as I've gone, so I just add the new number and then insert the link onto the number. I don't think I do anything special.

 

I do think I had one challenge where it tried to make them the same link, so I just added an extra space between characters and then linked and deleted the space afterwards. You might have to be careful to only get the characters you want to link when you do so - if that makes sense?

Thanks, stealthstitcher!  My adventure was kinda so-so... the music was GREAT, but the place was sooooo packed. I didn't know many people there, so I was kinda standing to the side listening to music, hoping a seat would open up, lol.

 

I went out of town this weekend - up  north, for my sister's birthday.  We made sweet potato hash from one of my new cookbooks, and it was super yummy!

For my "recipe of the week" I'm making klah from Dragonriders of Pern.  It will be my first recipe from the Geeky Chef cookbook I got for my birthday.  I'm super excited to try it.  Gonna make it this weekend, when I'll  have people over other than me who drink coffee-based beverages. 

 

Got in a good workout today. Did one yesterday, too. I overindulged a bit over the weekend out of town on less than healthy foods and now I'm kinda in "oh god exercise all the time until the weight drops back down" mode. 

 

I hope everyone's having a good final-week-of-the-challenge week.  :)

I'm finishing this challenge today.  Made my week 4 recipe - "klah" from Dragonriders of Pern, courtesy of my Geeky Chef cookbook shown in this thread's first post.  Getting my third workout of the week today.  I never ended up making up the adventure I missed the week I had strep, but I'm not beating myself up over that. I am working on ideas for the next challenge.

 

Also, today my son and I batch cooked my work lunches for the upcoming week, following the guide that was posted on the NF blog last week (with a few tweaks). He gave himself & the food bunny ears since it's easter.
