It really fills me up, so i'm not hungry till lunch. I take some casein miccelar before bedtime, it releases slowly over the case of 7 hours (so i am told). And what i use in the morning is a mix of 6 different types of protein, so there is a part there that releases quickly and other parts who release throughout the rest of the day. I've always had the hummingbird metabolism, so in highschool (and younger) I'd routinely eat cereal for breakfast and then be so starving that I'd eat my lunch within two hours of getting to school, and then be scavenging from people at lunch. (A cooked breakfast wasn't really an option.) When I got to college, my meat-head boyfriend had these powdered protein shakes that were the first easy breakfast to actually keep me full. They were like drinking a quart of cake batter. He'd tease me for drinking them, because I was about 120lbs at the time, not working out at all or eating healthy. I was just looking for something that wouldn't leave me hitting the vending machines twice before lunch. They were Myoplex Deluxe. I never took note of the nutrition info at the time, but given that we'd mix them up with nearly a quart of whole milk, that's like 80g protein, 30g fat, 60g carbs... Morning sounds like a good time, but maybe in the afternoon if not. So I sent out the invite to my friends/family in the area for the Foam Fest in July. Seeing who can join me for the 'day before my 30th birthday let's do this!' obstacle course run. My best friend is in, and she's now going to be doing a couch to 5 k training routine because the obstacle course is 5 km long and she wants to be able to do it with me. Currently hubby is saying he'll be my spectator. LOL. I suspect that'll change after a couple of my guy friends say they're in (My husband isn't overly jealous, but I suspect that two super fit guys running it with me MIGHT provoke the territoriality ) Decided that if I feel like work sucks balls, I clearly need to set up another PARE test practice run date to keep me motivated. So in June I'll find when it's running and do it again so I can see how far I've come in 3-4 month of training. Yes. Mine are about 150 KCAL, i'm not bulking, i'm trying to cut! Better head space today.Going to start trying to get the protein shake into me regularly. Morning sounds like a good time, but maybe in the afternoon if not. If you just want to up your daily protein intake, than by all means. If you want a nice filling breakfast replacement be sure to check what kind of protein shake it is. If it's whey, than it won't give you such a full feeling. You need a blend of protein to do that. Eegads I don't remember him ever cutting... but then, in college he was leaner than he'd ever been, and his only concern for weight was not maxing out of the college wrestling heavyweight division, which IIRC only meany staying under something like 300lb. At 35 I got mono and that finally slowed me down to a fast/normal metabolism, as opposed to a crazy/fast one. I can see how so many naturally thin folks assume that fat people must be eating 6000kcals and sitting on their asses all day, because that is what I would need to do to put on that much weight. But I've always had folks in my life who struggled with their weight, eating more sensibly than me and holding steady at 100+lb more than me. So I get it. And the weather is warmer and I hear this weekend is supposed to be stupidly gorgeous. And I'm stuck in a freaking baby shower from 1-4 tomorrow. UGH. I'd be more excited for it if I was close to the expectant mother at all but I'm her husband's cousin's wife. I like her husband well enough though. And she's not a bad person. Getting an idea of obstacles and distances and training requirements.And you know what? I discovered that the Spartan series is really NOT for me. It seems to be the exact opposite of what I like out of OCRs. You can't help each other, and if you do you're either disqualified or penalized. That's on their website.... that's... not what gives me motivation. For some people I can see how the whole 'you're on your own and you have to own it' attitude works for them. But not for me. So I have struck the Spartan Sprint from my list of possible OCRs this year. That still leaves me 6 OCRs I can do this year that interest me. Alexandrite Posted March 11, 2016 Report Share Posted March 11, 2016 I'm like the Weasel, I've had ridiculously high metabolism most of my life, which actually causes issues with sugar balancing and such. Wish my body wasnt so quick at working through what I ate too, I feel like my own toddlers having to eat every two hours. If I weren't so tall I would totally get the hobbit jokes, since I eat second breakfast, tea/twosies, and usually some kind of pre-meal before dinner.Good that only one didn't fit your criteria for awesome fun, does leave you a bit more choices. I laugh about the baby shower because mine is tomorrow. A lot of people are out of town or live elsewhere, and since we didn't find out gender most people are waiting for me to pop the baby out before they get anything, haha. Totally get you on the whole weird judging feeling from other female relatives sometimes. My hubby had tried to talk me into doing the Warrior Dash in St. Paul last year but I didn't feel confident in my abilities. So as a compromise he bought me a slack line for an anniversary present. I'm not sure if it is happening this year or not. I had plans on making a "grown-up" playground this summer with monkey bars, sandpits, rings, and pull-up bars. I might do it anyways just to let my ideas come to life. I hope you have fun at the baby shower. Today I was stuck indoors and was tormented by the sun shining and I couldn't be in it. Thankfully there was a game where you couldn't say the word baby the entire time so I only got asked if I was going to be a breeder once before people couldn't say baby anymore LOL. One lady tried to trick me into saying it by asking what I would wish for the most after getting married and I said 'to be debt free'.My metabolism is slow enough that I sometimes forget to eat enough calories in a day to cover my BMR. I just don't get hungry. DWK--> depending on whether or not my hubby gets hired full time at his current job will let me know if I can swing the California trip or not LOL. As for Colorado, I couldn't find one reasonably close to it but that was a couple of months ago so I should check again Jayniana Jones--> training for an OCR can be a ton of fun. I know this lady who's doing a daily yoga thing that could help with the stretching part... Although, I did a session yesterday that was more advanced than I remembered. My daughter struggled to keep up. My body for some reason was far from it's usual flexible self (I'm actually not really all that bendable). I got an excellent core workout just because I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. The poses were hilarious because it'll be a long time before I come close to being able to do any of the contortions. Sounds like the baby shower provided a few laughs.
