Since this new format has me feeling a bit like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest, I'm rolling my goals over from last challenge. Mostly. Kinda? We'll see what happens -- life is expected to be bumpy this month. 

 

Goal 1: Get Back To My (Workout) Routine

 

Since I’m back to my regular schedule, I can get back to my workout routine (minus Monday Ruck Day - sorry guys, it’s too cold and dark after work for all that). 

  • Mondays: Yoga if my body is wiped from the weekend; bodyweight routine if it’s not
  • Tuesdays: BollyX if it’s offered; some sort of speed work, a treadmill ruck, or something endurance-related if it’s not
  • Wednesdays: Free day. Bodyweight, endurance or speed work - or weights
  • Thursdays: Yoga class
  • Fridays: Planned rest - Friday date nights
  • Weekends: Walk a bunch and hopefully at least once during the challenge go do something purposefully active. 
  • Weekdays: I’m liking this Darebee daily challenge thing. I’m sticking with it. 

 

 

Goal 2: Macros, Per Usual

 

Macros work for me, and I need to stick with them - even during the weekends. No more sneaking in sandwiches or nachos. Or noodles. I need to behave. 

 

Calories: 1,500 or under

Carbs: 100g or under

Fat: 100g or under

Protein: 70g minimim

 

 

Goal 3: Level Up My (Work) Life

  • Put in my 1 month notice at work  Last day at the "old job" is March 10
  • Find another job ??? Apply for immersive coding school
  • Continue re-vamping my resume & LinkedIn profile
  • Complete my CV website complete version 2 of CV site, since I hate version 1
  • Complete at least 1 more site layout I can use for my portfolio
  • Spiff my portfolio up
  • Complete the Angular JS online course I’m taking

 

Goal 4: Feed My Creativity

  • Keep up with my current knitting project
  • Keep up with my current cross-stitch project

 

Goal 5: Make My Environment Better

  • Continue minimalism track
  • Work toward getting rid of bookshelf I hate
  • Possibly re-work my entryway
  • Address the pantry that’s starting to look messy
  • Look into my DVD drive - is it really busted? 

Goal 6: Ranger Mini Challenge

 

Fire: I've been missing my HIIT videos. This week, I'll be swapping out at least 1 of my planned workouts for an HIIT video.

 

Electric: My wrists and arms have been shit lately. This mini challenge comes at a great time to focus on mobility work this week. My wrists will thank me.

 

Ground: Fiiiiiiiiiiiiine, Rurik, I'll go back to rucking early. ;p Wasn't going to make myself until the days get longer, but fiiiiiiiiiine. Expect a ruck vid this week.

 

Psychic: I've been meaning to jump on this complex gamification bandwagon for awhile now, but haven't carved the time to do the research. Do that this week 

 

 

Goal 7: Kick Kat's Ass Week 1

 

I'm participating in a pvp challenge with our very own therealkat and will be wiping the floor with her this first week ;) 

 

ADDED GOALS:

 

1. Whole30 this week. Yes, that means even this weekend during the damn UFC fight. 

2. Darebee weekly challenge on top of regular workout + Daily Dares.

OMFG I FILLED OUT MY APPLICATION FOR THE IMMERSIVE CODING SCHOOL. 

 

And now they want a freaking about me site that shows my personality. 

 

The coding part is easy - I basically knocked that out this last weekend for shits & giggles. 

 

The 'show yourself off to a committee' part: not so much. 

 

I need a better head shot. 

 

And now I'm under the gun to actually flesh out my 'about me' page and *not* sound lame. 

 

I have until Thursday.

Ugh. About me is the WORST. We switched our review system up at my job... and we have to talk about ourselves once a week to our boss and talk about our goals and stuff. IT KILLS ME. I hate it.

That sounds like absolute hell. 

 

I plan on working on some of the about me stuff today/this evening - after surprise shopping for a couch because apparently my DH is 12 and can't keep himself from flopping onto the couch. Our poor IKEA couch lasted 2 years - 6 months of that with a cracked arm -- and then we changed the slipcover and it all went to hell. The cracked arm is pretty much falling off now. 

 

Asshead. 

 

*grumble**grumble**grumble* *credit cards* *grumble* *grumble about how I don't like to carry a balance* 

 

I should set a goal right now to have the about me shit up for review no later than Thursday morning.

Week 1 Day 1

 

Goal 1: Get Back To My (Workout) Routine

 

  • Monday: Daily Dare + Yoga or Bodyweight
  • Tuesday: Daily Dare + Dance Class, endurance or speed work
  • Wednesday: Daily Dare + My Choice
  • Thursday: Daily Dare + Yoga Class
  • Friday: Daily Dare + Planned Rest Day
  • Weekend: My Choice

 

 

What Did I Do Today? 

 

Daily Dare: 30 Seconds Jump Squats. EC: Non-Stop. Well, that’ll wake your body up. Done. 

 

Big Workout: Hit the gas on the Ranger Train and did a 20-minute HIIT workout. Had to scale the push-ups, but did well nonetheless (and managed to not get nauseous - win!)

 

Week 1 Only: Darebee Weekly Quest - Clear The Road (by doing dips). How Many Did I Contribute Today? 25 ass-to-ground dips off the ottoman. 

 

 

Goal 2: Macros, Per Usual

 

Breakfast: DH’s green smoothie with hemp protein + coffee with almond milk 

Lunch: Cleanout - 1/2 a bowl of paleo cheeseburger mac & 1/2 a bowl of Asiany broccoli + venison

Dinner: “Indian nachos†- good thing potatoes are now W30. I had already planned on paleo-ify-ing this recipe; making it W30-compliant wasn’t much more of a stretch. 

Snacks: Nope. Figured out I don’t actually have W30-compliant nuts at the moment, since I bought nacho cheese flavored cashews this weekend.

 

Week 1 Only: Was I Whole30 Compliant Today? Mostly. I had almond milk with my coffee because I literally forgot challenge started today. Since this was the last of my almond milk, I’m not freaking out about it. 

 

Calories: 1,111 of 1,500

Carbs: 85 of 100g 

Fat: 52 of 100g

Protein: 89 of 70g 

 

 

Goal 3: Level Up My (Work) Life

 

  • Last day at the “old job†is March 10!
  • Apply for immersive coding school
  • Continue re-vamping my resume & LinkedIn profile
  • Complete Version 2 of my CV site because I hate Version 1
  • Complete at least 1 more site layout I can use for my portfolio
  • Spiff my portfolio up

 

What Did I Work On Today?

 

Worked on my LinkedIn profile. 

 

Applied to coding school. 

 

Skipped the UI/UX talk + recruiter meet & greet I was supposed to go to. 

 

 

Goal 4: Feed My Creativity

 

  • Keep up with my current knitting project
  • Keep up with my current cross-stitch project

 

What Did I Work On Today?

 

Cross stitched at lunch and I’m about 7/10 of the way completed! 

 

Finished the cuff/leg part of my second sock. 

 

 

Goal 5: Make My Environment Better

 

  • Continue minimalism track
  • Figure out what’s going on with my DVD drive

 

What Did I Work On Today?

 

Transferred one of my DH’s guitars to the closet before it gets even more damaged, moved things around in that closet, and put a pair of boots up in a shoe box. 

 

 

Goal 6: Ranger Mini Challenge

Thank goodness I can choose! We’re fighting an ice Pokemon this week, so logically I should choose my Fire dude (Charmander? Was there a fire fox instead? I know nothing about Pokemon). 

 

So… dammit …. did my HIIT tonight. Because I didn’t want to. TWICE FOR FLINCHING. 

 

 

Goal 7: Kick Kat’s Ass

PATH TO VICTORY

 

1. Whole 30 all week. Yes, that even means during the damn UFC fight this Saturday. 

 

Did I kick this goal’s ass today? Mostly, yes. 

 

Though pooooooooooooooop. I planned zero percent for this boss battle while coming up with this week’s menu, and am going to have to re-adjust the dinner that included bacon to no bacon. And it looked so good … maybe I’ll put it off to next week, when bacon sails again. 

 

It’s a damn good thing I cook (mostly) Whole30-complaint food at home. I’d be huuuuungry at lunch if I didn’t. 

 

2. Darebee my face off. Add the Darebee Weekly Challenge on top of my Daily Dares + regularly scheduled weekly workouts. 

 

 

Did I kick this goal’s ass today? Yep. Daily Dare Done. Weekly thing worked toward. Workout crushed.

Also, I feel your pain with the new challenge format and the 1 legged man. But three limbs is enough to still kick butt, methinks.

Kudos to sticking to Whole30 with a UFC on the line. But more importantly, tell me we can still be friends and that you hate Nate Diaz as much as I do. And that McGregor is a delicious piece of man meat worth oggling at every turn.

Admittedly, my eyes totally gloss over when the DH starts talking about fights - all I see is dollar signs rolling through his eyeballs cartoon jackpot style. 

 

I do, however, care very greatly about ogling Connor McGregor. And am hoping Misha Tate's RBF gets re-adjusted. 

 

I don't think I could pick Nick Diaz out of a lineup, but he's fighting my pretty man candy so I hates him. 

 
My plan for the fights: don't sit anywhere near the food this time, dumbass. Even if it's paleo. And I'll be bringing my own "fancy pop" (aka sparkling water with a squeeze of lime or pineapple) so I stay far away from cider.
