Digital Battle Log

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I go by the username analog girl. As of yet, I am still creating my origin story, meaning I am right in the middle of it.
I really do think I know all or at least most of my strengths and weaknesses but the truth is, I do not. Yet I want to find out. So the plan of action is, to keep a record of things that I want to keep myself accountable for here... Especially when I am not doing a 6 week challenge online or off.

Eventually, I will have gathered up the knowledge and skills needed to help others solve their legal matters... Hopefully I will still have my soul then... :)

I want to stop being so averse to dealing with situations that 'can be avoided', within rationale of course.  So, my main goals are:

To wake up and get up without thinking about it and to go to sleep when it is time without thinking about it or other crap that does not deserve my attention, to maintain awareness about my surroundings and keep reveries for the times when I am alone.

Yeah, I believe those goals will keep me out of the type of trouble I do not want to deal with. The rest depends on what my coach (me :P) has in store for me for the day. Ah well, let us see how events unfold!

LEVELLING UP:

"Level 4" in 2020 when I was pretty much done with my second master's and had developed a consistent workout habit for the second time in life. (Firs time was around 2014.)

+1 CON – managed to run 5,5 km with only 2-3 times fast walking & did a post-run care routine (cool down walk, eating a little something, small mg of painkiller, bottle of lemon water, stretching) 10/11/2020

Today I made another step to becoming an early bird again (woke up at 7:30 AM) and stretched, and did 20 minutes on the cross trainer.

PS - Was curious to look back to some of my previous posts so... That was fun.

"Holla at ya girl!" Three days in a row waking up, warming up and exercising. Already feel the changes in my chemistry and the bonus of having already done something right early on.

I believe I will stick to 20 minutes and simple for now and maybe pump it up just a notch next week.

Spring is coming. A lot of studying and from-the-inside-out self development has happened and that is the flow of nature... Now it is time to do and get some from-the-outside-in training.

... Okay okay, I know, less talking and more doing now. Three days count for nothing (just like failures don't) if one doesn't continue in the same manner.

Just noticed I haven't been doing anything about my eating regimen to back my personal declaration up... Have an event coming up at the end of the month that might help to give me the extra motivation to do so and get started. Then again, my mind has its ways of circumventing such motivations and claiming they are vain... Must... not make excuses.

Day 2 of working out! Both were at the level of my workouts when I felt best. Which is cool because it is progress ^_^

also ate much better and less yesterday. Less is good too in this case because I let myself binge during exam time. Today I need to up the water intake and keep moving on...

Life goals wise I wrote a tiny piece yesterday and it was more of a motivational/ declaration of my dedication type of thing but I paid more attention to how a reader would receive it than usual. I mean... it is easier to get some practice on speech/writing with things you do often.

I mean, it is good to be deep and individualistic and all that. But Einstein said that if you cannot explain something to a 5 year old, you do not get it yourself, right? (Paraphrased of course) And this is just another stepping stone to letting go of Ego. Without compromising my personality at all, which is something I used to be afraid of. (My battle log introduction stays for now, though [emoji14])

Back home in my little corner of the Internet!

So, (without prejudice), here is my top three that I want to work on this summer:

  • Drink H2O for life. (The dark side has been supplying a lot of cookies lately...)
  • Do a yoga pose every single day.
  • Write 200 words each day and reread it the next. Any topic.

A friendly reminder to myself: nobody is going to get hurt if I do more than the above. I just need these little victories every day to keep myself going.

I found my battle log! Apparently it just does not show on your phone. So I deleted my previous posts and posting them here:

Did I have a battle log already? I thought I did but I could not find it via 'Content I Started'or my profile.

For thoses who do not know me (a lot of you), greetings! Nice to meet you. For now I will just carve out this piece of the WWW to keep myself accountable.

Because I need to brainstorm about some things/goals I have. I posted on a forum-like website that I also visit on and off for a couple of months and it is a nice community but sooner or later you always come back to Nerdfitness, amiright?

Nothing beats the Rebellion mind set.

Note to self: check out how to make a character on NF. (For free?! I'm in. I will definitely start investing in causes I believe in once the cash starts rolling in, but for now I am a poor student...)

...Since I did not find my battle log, I had to start a new one. And the timing was ideal today. I did something! I promise I will find time to make it look more Battle Log-y this year. Or maybe in 2019 :p Hey, December is busy.

Anyway. Here goes.

I have a cross trainer at home now. Second hand. Those things have gotten lighter and it takes less space than the one I used to have when I was a teenager but it gathered dust so we sold it? Which is neat.

My point is actually that I loved it this evening. Did 30 minutes of it and did some yoga afterwards.

I have not been logging my food but do not feel the necessity. I think I have a good grasp on what is how much and have not been snacking on the side of my meals and scheduled snacks.

I did drink plenty of water. Given the fact that it is catch up & assignment week, and I am a bit of a lazy bones and in a slump, I'd say it was a good day, 29th of November 2018.

Points of interest:

Meal prepping for WSHTF. Internship coming up and I will be travelling a lot to and fro in februari and March. Need to maintain health and energy.

How to stop getting colds etc. Probably the first step is to reduce non "real food" snacks to zero. Consider alternative steps because Oh no snacks!

How to get more deep sleep. Already started a phone(and general screen) detox. Leave phone away from head before sleep and thus also not waking up to a phone.

Hope you are all doing well.

Oh my, I did not read my first messages that are from 2016 haha. Crazy how similar they are. Apparently we still had a cross trainer in march of that year. But it was in such an impractical place that I did not use it. Too big and heavy to move.

I went for a walk and bought some little things (like eggs and post stamps, I finally ran out) that I needed.

These past mornings it is as if I am waking up with a fog in my brain, even if I did not sleep enough. It is because I am balancing on the line between having a cold and not. Now... to get busy.

Yay for battle logs! I'm glad to have found your's. I am also on the reduce the mindless snacking and going more for the nutrient dense, protein filled variety. Let's keep each other accountable? What kind of internship are you doing?

Accountability hurrah! I finally have ideas for SMART goals again so I will be posting something measurable (relatively...) soon.

I decided to "confess" to myself that I did not have time for a second internship this year and told the firm they could offer my spot to another student.

I study law so it would have been at a (medium small) law firm :) my first one was at a general practice and I wanted to see how it would be in a more commercial, and specialised firm. Luckily asking your intern to systematiy get you coffee is taboo in my country so I would be getting assignments to research this or make a draft document of that... learn how to properly do an intake with a client, keep people informed and not trying to push through what I think is the correct path to follow etc.

Fair warning: I refuse to give out any legal advice to people if I do not know them well enough to monitor their process closely and have an actual professional with that expertise that is close to me who I can ask for help :p

Anyway, yeah. That will be left for a later moment. First I have to sit my butt down and get my thesis rolling. I have quite an interesting topic (that I will not disclose in case someone I know reads this, however unlikely *knocks on wood*).

Btw: it is almost 2 years later since my original post and I believe my soul is intact... lol

Alright alright alright. Time for some bullet points.

- In my challenge some X amount of months ago I had a bonus quest for cold showers.

- I have a terrible cold/virus/whatever AGAIN and I am so sick of it (pun intended).

- I usually get damned sick around the time of DEADLINES which means I am literally making my body sick by stressing/overthinking even when I stiffen up my upper lip and Push On.

- Few weeks ago I found a Dutch dude that is teaching others how to be a (monk-like) bad ass and I am pumped.

Although since the end of august there is a part of me that REALLY does not want to continue with this selfdevelopment business anymore. Old inner demons showing up to haunt me from the past :')

Legally bound to hug people in need.

Living life as a Druid is about walking with the beasts. It's about being scared, looking your fears in the eyes and going on anyway. Dread doesn't go away, you just learn to know it. It's still a beast, it still has fangs, but you walk among it.

So, you know how in job interviews they often ask you: "So where do you see yourself in 5 years?" I did that to myself yesterday. Each year (2019-2023) had only 2-5 items on it, studies and job/career related. It was funny thinking both: "I'll be 29 in 5 years." and "Those deadlines seem kind of short for what I want to achieve." :p

But I've already read a lot of articles saying you should not expect magic when you hit 30, and you should not feel like shit if you don't have your life together by then. "Feeling" anything negative is not productive anyway. And I sure as hell should not be worrying about that now.

In 6 months

  • Health and fitness

--> I want to have reached my goal weight. I am currently a couple of kg away from being overweight according to my BMI. Half a kg per week should make me reach it in 2x 10 weeks, so by March I should be feeling OK, and in May I should be in a safe place. (I finally decided I need a weight loss plan, after trying to wing it the past year.)

--> I want to try that program with cold exposure and breathing exercises.

---> I want to have made time to meal plan every week, i.e. cut up everything I can and put in boxes & make grocery list for next week. 30% of the weight of what I eat vegetables and fruit (just watch what I fill my plate with).

--> I want to have the habit of keeping my ankles & wrists flexible and strong. In the summer my ankle told me I am not allowed to wear heels every day for longer than a month. Could not put all of my weight on it without it hurting... a lot.

And well, it really annoys me to not be able to do yoga poses like inverted triangle because of my wrists/fingers being so weak :p That's how it feels anyway.

--> In one year, I want to be able to finally do a pull-up, so hey. I should probably do a few challenge quests in that area as well.... Get my bar in my door post again... I did not bother setting it up after I moved because I did not use it at the old place.

--> Use exercise as an 'outlet' when stress piles up. Probably something with hitting a ball against a wall or weights.

Spoiler

  • Studies and focus

Hopefully my diet and exercise will help me focus better.

--> Finish my master's thesis despite all of the business around my 'regular studies', exams and assignments.

--> Read 2 non-fic books

--> Start refreshing the little German I know. Process of getting it to B1, because I can get a "scholarship" for the course that will get my German to B2.

  • Work/Career

--> I want to know if I am allowed to do a certain master's program.

--> I want to have applied for at least 5 jobs (not just as a side thing) & decide if I am going to follow a second masters or not.

--> See if I can lower expenses further. React to more 'slots' for work. I am covering my costs, want to save more.

  • Relationships

--> Listen better.

--> Get to know more people that are near me.

--> Keep making time for (individual members of) my family & be present. Make our little own traditions, despite not having a white picket fence.

  • Self development

--> Have a hobby that is creative. Pick up the many things I have in my 'hobby drawer',

--> Really try to excel at everything I do, WHEN I am spending time on it. Without being perfectionistic. Good luck.

* Fun goals:

---> (Vintage styling) Learn how to do a killer wet set (curls).

Alright so I finally decided on my next challenge quest (starting 2nd of January). I made quite a full mind map with them but they are mostly just structuring things I was "sort of" already doing. I also added specifics and cues everywhere.

Cues as in: WHEN will I do these things? Cue--> habit.  My reward is a better put together life. :')

The actual new ones are as follows:

Fitness

*Meal plan for the next week, based on the weekly discounts. Input in Myfitnesspal (adjust daily)

* Meal prep for the next 4 to 7 days (i.e. cut the veggies, for goodness sake).

ALTERNATIVE TO MEAL PREPPINGSimply do not snack more than once between meals, log everything (roughly, start of the day) in MFP. Have to start tracking what I eat again, that helps a lot.

-------

* Meditate for 5-10 mins every day.

* Elliptical for 5-45 mins on work day evenings.

Life

*Log expenses/income everyday in program right when I come home or after I "do something financial".

Yeah, I won't add anything else. This does not really fit the "if it looks too easy, it is just right" criteria but I'll try.  do it anyway.

This. Breakthroughs do happen but life is mostly continuous. What maters is not where you're at, but what you do. We're all on the way, we can all make progress or screw up royally. Successful people don't reach immunity when they hit 30, people on a slow and steady path don't suddenly find that they can't make a single step further.

I like your approach, have fun on the way. :)

Good luck on fighting that cold off. I like your plan of combining walking with errands

Forgot to say thanks :) And yeah, I really need to link things together if they are to be done.

It also seems like less individual tasks that way which is always good for keeping my head cool under pressure :')

Would like to add some vagueness to my above goals, a recurring one that I like to mention for good measure:

* Plan fun/non-work things. Work when it is work time, play when it is play time. Bonus points: make errands and chores fun when it is time to do them.

I listened to something about not giving yourself a way out of a thing if you want to achieve it. Not the first time I have of course.

I think I am not there yet - being able to imagine I have no other choice when I do.

I cut up a big box of veggies yesterday. With a pretty neat cutting tool, razorsharp blade. Prepping food wth that thing is fun. I found a way to make the vegetable prep part fun.

Most of the rest cannnot/does not need to be prepped i think.

I wanted to think of 4 times 5 days of meal ideas for the next challenge but why make it difficult. I grabbed my recipe book(s)/ a few websites and it seemed daunting.

I will just think of 5 méals. Maybe also healthy snacks or desserts if I see something.

if something is:

easy,

healthy,

diverse and

without fancy ingredients, and

I could use it for both lunch and dinner

Ideally could take it with me in a not too big of a box, without too high of a risk of leakage and

eat it with a fork

It is mine!

In the summer I often made salads with a bit of couscous but in the winter Id like something more 'comfortingly' healthy... Should be possible... :p

A friend of mine told me I could also just accept myself as I am instead of not drinking cocoa in 2019 #newyearnewme (was not my best joke I admit). I agreed and laughed it off but the thing is. I just get tired and bleh when I do not eat well. And I believe also sick.

So.... I do not really care that much if I really improve on the outside... Im okay. As long as it stays like this and not more.

But on the inside. It is crazy how much food and not drinking water affects me. Mentally and physically.

I am sure it is pretty easy to just eat well once I start. Ill not prevent myself from treating myself /being treated on special occassions even if they occur often. I just must not snack on chips and such outside of those moments.

I have also been improving my posture. I never slouched too bad but just enough to make my lower back hurt. That at least gives me the immediate reward of feeling better :p

alright so I went to sleep last night at around 11 pm although I was ready at 10. Started preparing at 8 after a family anniversary.

ok time to get busy!
