Now with NO food-related quests and NO measurement tracking requirements throughout the challenge. How will we cope?!?! Spike (STR+3) Let's keep this short and sweet, shall we? Spike takes many jobs as a bounty hunter throughout the story, but his one drive is chasing after Julia and Vicious. He has great perception and fighting chops to help him get the job done. My one job is to help my 3RM chase after my 1RM lifts while I work on building up my squats and figure out what's going on with my deadlifts. I'm probably very close to being forced onto Texas Method on yet another lift, we shall see! My lifts look like the below, the number on the left is my current 3RM for the respective lift while the number on the right is my 1RM. I'm only going to aim for closing the gap by 15lbs, pretty sure I can do that and then some: Squat: 157.5 > 169.5 BP: 81 > 85 OHP: 60.5 > 65 DL: 205 > 207.5 The plan: 3RM Gains: 0/15 The grading: 11-15+lbs = A, 8-10lbs = B, 5-7lbs = C, else F Faye (DEX+4) Talk about someone who takes setbacks and hard knocks, Faye is an amnesiac in space. That is the worst place to be with no real memory, methinks. She had to take care of herself while on the run before growing attached to the crew of the Bebop and eventually confronting her past. Not to quote a Chumbawamba song, but this quest is all about getting knocked down and getting up again. Put it another way: Every Day Is Ukemi Day. That's right, I'm falling down (reeeeeally gently) every day that isn't an already scheduled day at the dojo, where presumably I'll be doing a bit of that there, too. Hence the quest title. Also, to compliment the falling down, there's that nagging need for full body mobility sessions. That time is now. I'm breaking this daunting task in half--on lifting days, I roll my hips to ankles. On non-lifting days, it's all about hips to scalp. Simple as that. The plan: Every Day is Ukemi Day - 0/20 Full Body Mobility: Upper - 0/16, Lower - 0/12 The grading: Every Day is Ukemi Day - 18-20 days = A, 15-17 days = B, 12-14 = C, else F Full Body Mobility: Upper - 14-16 = A, 11-13 = B, else F, Lower - 10 - 12 = A, 7 - 9 = B, else F Jet (WIS+1, CON+1, CHA+1) Ah, the responsible one. He cooks, he minds the money, he adopts a child and dog. Pity about the fridge... Ah well, I won't be making that mistake. Because I'm going to Clean Something around the house five days a week. Dish-washing and laundry don't count, because I already do these things and they're basically mandatory. Anything that adds up to >10 minutes counts. The curfews make a return as well, because #recycling. I'm tweaking the drink curfew to be defaulted to 8:30 OR two hours' space between my last drink and lights-out. Here's where I stand on bringing 3RM up to 1RM territory: Squat: 162.5 > 169.5 BP: 85 > 85 OHP: 65 > 65.5 DL: 205 > 207.5 All told, I have a total of 10lbs' difference between the two. Faye Every Day is Ukemi Day - 5/20 - 25% Upper Mobility - 3/16 - 19% Lower Mobility - 4/12 - 30% Missing upper mobility on Sunday cost me, otherwise I am on track~ Jet Clean - 6/20 - 30% Curfew - 6/20 - 30% Anti-Curfew - 6/24 - 25% Cleanin' up this quest...harr... ===================================================================================================================== WEEK 2 DEBRIEF! Spike 3RM Gains: 13.5/15 - 90% 10lbs to go, same as last week due to Week 2 being designated as Shark Week. Faye Every Day is Ukemi Day - 10/20 - 50% Upper Mobility - 8/16 - 50% Lower Mobility - 7/12 - 58% BACK ON TRACK, BABY. All the mobility ever. I'm throwing the asterisks back into the count for the purposes of going forward, just FYI. Jet Clean - 11/20 - 55% Curfew - 10/20 - 50% Anti-Curfew - 10/24 – 42% A mixed bag full of fail to get out of bed on time. I can still make up some of the difference, but it will require spotless performance from here out. Otherwise, not bad ===================================================================================================================== WEEK 3 DEBRIEF! Spike 3RM Gains: 16/15 - 106% YASS. Goal met and 7.5lbs of daylight between 3RM and 1RM lifts. Soon I will be in a position to press on~ Faye Every Day is Ukemi Day - 15/20 - 75% Upper Mobility - 13/16 - 81% Lower Mobility - 12/12 - 100% Talk about pulling bacon out of the fire, this quest. On track and working out ankle and posterior chain issues. Jet Clean - 18/20 - 90% Curfew - 15/20 - 75% Anti-Curfew - 17/24 – 71% W00t, I may still be a bit behind on this quest, but dayumn if it isn't a major improvement over where it was last week. I have gained immense respect for pole from watching you, and have casually researched places nearby (there are a few, I think?) in the local area. If only I had more hours in the day or days in the week. We're both working hard and gonna rock our challenges. Spike 3RM Gains: 0/15 Squat - 45 1x5 70 1x3 95 1x2 120 1x1 142 6x3 - belted BP - 45 1x5 60 1x3 70 1x1 80 3x3 - belted 83 1x1 - belted OHP - NA DL - NA PC - 50 3x5 No gains to be had this day, however I did manage to drag my carcass to the gym, so that, ladies and gents, was a major victory right there. When I woke up, I was mega-headache-y, which isn’t an auspicious way to start the day (the headache was carried all the way over from the previous night, yay). However, it seems as of writing this that the pain level has gone down over the course of the day. The way Zero week is going to work is any gains made during Zero week counts toward my goal~ All carrot, no stick for this week. Faye Every Day is Ukemi Day Upper Mobility Lower Mobility These don’t count toward my total, however I did manage Ukemi Day work and the lower mobility in conjunction with my lifting. Ukemi practice featured side falls (both sides), back falls, and a smidge of front falls. I think back falls need the most work of the three, so that’s what I’ll be focusing on, but not to the exclusion of the others, of course. Scored a cool little bruise below my right knee, so that means I’m doing it long enough, lol. Moar rolling of the knees to address knee knots. Jet Clean Curfew Anti-Curfew Nothing special on the cleaning front, kept the dishes going and that’s it. I slept in an hour because #headachehangover. In other news, I was in rare eating-like-an-asshole form today. I bribed myself into the gym with a blueberry muffin the size of my palm--that plus some BCAAs I finally cowgirl’d up and bought was my post-workout recovery. LOL. Then for dinner, I discovered this amazing thing while sitting in the car waiting for Aikido the other day: Loaded Mac & Cheese. A-may-zing, as befits molten cheese. I had pepper jack cheese on hand, and it served admirably in this monstrosity.
