He's a former track athlete turned weightlifter turned wanna-be ninja, who this month apparently aspires to merge with the Lifestream and become a god? Epic Quests: Currently, my long term goals are to master... * muscleups * laches * hanging traverses Previously in 2016... Spoiler In the January challenge I... took my chinup-grip flex hang from 7 seconds ---> 27 seconds took my pullup-grip dead hang from 15 seconds ---> 58 seconds In the February challenge I... took my top-range partial chinups from 4 reps ---> 7 reps took my pullup-grip scapula retractions from 3 reps ---> 12 reps took my dip support hold from 13 seconds ---> 62 seconds In the March challenge I... took my chinups from 2 reps ---> 7 reps took my half-dips from 2 reps ---> 5 reps took my hanging tuck sit from 4 seconds ---> 28 seconds took my pullup grip (pronated) side swings from 4 reps ---> 12 reps April Quests: My main goals for April 2016 are improvement on... Chinups Dips Hanging L-Sit 1-Arm, Pole-assisted, Palm-Grip Hang <-- One "Wing" training? I knew the challenge theme had relevance somewhere. Testing: My starting AMRAP/AMSAP numbers are... Chinups: 7 reps Dips: 2 reps Hanging L-Sit: 3 seconds 1A Asst. Palm Hang: (L/R) 6/8 seconds Context: I train Mon/Wed/Fri. Along with Assassin quests, I also weight-lift, and I'm currently on a long-term "Cut" diet. (Added, April 4th) -- I'll go ahead and make an official extra quest this challenge out of my 'Cut' goal. April 'Cut' Quest: Be under 189.0 lbs by my morning weigh-in on April 30th. The Strategy: I use alternating training days. My hamstrings got work a little work, but my lower back wasn't activating today the way I'd like it to on these. The mind-muscle connection wasn't there. . That's unacceptable, of course. After finishing today's regular training, I returned to deadlifts, and worked them more at a lower weight (see below). Quest Work (Intensity Day) Notation: (+ #) is rep or time change, of highest set, over previous Intensity training day. Chinups (+1) x7 x8 (extra) Top-range Chinup Partials x9 x9 x9 Dips (+2) x4 x4 x4 SL Deadlifts, round 2 (45-sec pause between sets) SL Deadlift 190 x5x8 Comment: Much better.
