SpecialSundae Posted April 8, 2016 Author Report Share Posted April 8, 2016 So I've spoken to my GP and she's assured me that the fact that I wasn't called in for an urgent appointment suggests it's a fairly routine consult and not something to be concerned about, they don't really operate on people unless it's something debilitating. For those in the States, this is vaguely how the NHS works with physical ailments. If your problem is life-threatening, everything moves quickly; if your problem is irritating but not likely to kill or maim you... two years to get from your first complaint to the doctor to being signed off as fine by a specialist. Alternatively, you can pay for private medical insurance or individual private consultations to make things go a lot faster (I go private for physio). I've been through this circus at least twice before: once to investigate dizziness which turned out to be that I'd lost all balance function in my right ear (ten second diagnostic test but took finally seeing the right person after two and a half years to get that test via about five other specialists), once to investigate adult acne (which turned out to be PCOS and again took two years and multiple specialists to get to the bottom of it). My mum had a benign ovarian tumour and from first symptoms to the operation was less than six weeks despite it falling over Christmas and it not actually turning out to be life-threatening (just really effing painful) and she still gets follow-up appointments on a regular basis to make sure that there isn't anything malignant developing. So yes, people whine about the NHS and the wait times are long if things are irritating but not critical, but I can call up the doctor (GP) at 8:30 in the morning and see them that day if I have an urgent issue or within the week at the very least without cost at point of use. 6 Quote Link to comment

Not even sharing it, but writing it as though it were an interview. I've worked hard, I've achieved a lot, I've even managed to maintain both my weight and activity levels for two years after reaching my initial goal without any slippage, but I don't fit neatly into the NF philosophy and I'm a grumpy cow at times on the boards so I get why I was never chosen. Four sets of: Ab wheel x10 Tea tray pulses x10 Bicycles x10 Glute bridge with single leg raises x10 Saturday 9/4: BW: 63.8kg Close-grip Bench: (20kg x10) 45kg x8x2 52.5kg x6x2 Paused deadlift: 70kg x5 82.5kg x4 95kg x3 110kg x2x3 Bench: 60kg x3, x8x3, x5 Misread my programme so first set was 3 reps, then did the eights and filled in the missing reps on the last set. Sorry for getting so down about the never being an NF Hero/success story. Funny thing is, I've hit a bunch of PBs this week and I'm pretty confident for testing on Tuesday but it hasn't necessarily cone across. I've taken quite a bit of time out to spend with Grant just playing games or watching movies or simply snuggling so I'm kinda on track with everything and our house is consistently tidier than it used to be, even if we still need to clean the kitchen today and change the sheets. 5 Quote Link to comment
