Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, welcome to the Rebellion.

We're so glad to have you with us. This post is for you to get motivation, ask questions, share your victories and post cat gifs (or superhero gifs, or dog gifs) or anything really as long as it's in the spirit of the rebellion.

So again, welcome and we're looking forward to sharing the next 4 weeks with you.

I've been really poor at being a guild leader over the past few months, and I've been wrapping my head around the new format and guilds and stuff.  I think I have a handle on it, but there's still more I can learn - I'm sure a lot of you will help me when I'm a little clueless :)

But basically I wanted to know something:

Would you like to do mini challenges* as part of the 4WC?  And if you do, what kind of mini challenges would you like to do?

We're a mixed skill group, so if there's something (whether basic or advanced) that you'd like to do as a little mini quest then let me know.  If there's no interested then that's also cool :)

*Mini challenges (for anyone that's new to the Rebellion) are side quests that you have an option to do to supplement your current personal challenge.

I didn't do the minis when I was a noob ages ago. What do you have in mind? Like all physical stuff or also things like meditation, try a new food, random 20 seconds of courage moments, etc? (Mostly asking because I'm limited due to a sprained ankle, so I don't want to be all "yes do it!!" and then not participate after you go through all that trouble.)

This is not related to anything, but the colors in your progress bars are so pretty! *o*

Random Mini Suggestions:

  1. Read a chapter of a book you think may have the potential to change your life.
  2. Eat a food you've never had before.
  3. Send a quick email to someone who made a difference in your life.
  4. Spend 15 minutes learning to juggle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8QfqkSPxmo
  5. Clean your workspace/desk for 15 minutes, or until you find something you've been looking for.
  6. Spend some of your time waiting somewhere deleting apps on your phone that you never use.
  7. Take pictures of yourself NOW to compare to yourself LATER.
  8. Swing at a park.
  9. Lay outside in the sunshine for 10 minutes.
  10. Make a list of 10 things you can do in under 5 minutes.
  11. Do something from #10.

I'd be down if the mini fits me! I kind of did my equivalent of a 1st challenge a few months before finding NF, so it would be cool to get involved with other fresh faced rebels round here. I wouldn't mind learning how to juggle @WellBS... ;)

The chat threads have been so sad and quiet over the past few challenges. Should we introduce ourselves so we're all friends?

I'm Flea. I'm in the US, I complain about grad school a lot, I use way too many Supernatural gifs, I'm going to die doing a Spartan Sprint in August (if you're anywhere near DC/MD you are hereby legally obligated to come do it with us), and when I grow up I really want a cat that will perch on people's shoulders/heads/etc, because both my furry assholes are lame and not fun like that. They just stand 3 feet away and meow at you.

Hi Flea :)

My name is Melissa, 24 years old, I live in Southern New Jersey, and I am currently a stay at home mom to my 2 year old BFF/son Jack. We are so excited because his dad/my boyfriend of 6 years was accepted into med school and will be attending this summer! So until daddy starts making some $$$, I get to play Suzy Homemaker. I hope to go to school to become a registered dietitian eventually. Other than that I'm honestly not all that exciting, I just like to read and knit and color, watch Pretty Little Liars, and I'm usually in bed by 10

Hi Flea and Melissa,

I used to hate icebreakers in college. Being introverted, perhaps to a fault--definitely to a fault--I considered them uncomfortable and unnecessary. But this isn't college! I can't make up my mind about anything so in school I decided to get three degrees, one undergrad law degree, a business degree, and a computer science degree.  I dislike all three areas and now have a job doing billing and accounting. I dislike it. I enjoy drawing and painting but it's a recent discovery of mine and I feel I have a poor visual imagination. I dream of making a living from my writing. I fear I'll die poor and angry instead. I often feel I could do anything if I fixed my psychological blocks. Am I doing this right? :P

Hi y'all! I still hate icebreakers but the last two or three chat threads were super dead so I figured at least this would get something started? If nothing else we can all discuss our hatred for icebreakers lol.

Congrats to daddy! And to you for wrangling a toddler. That takes some skills.

Ha! I feel you. I did French and poli sci with a psych minor, now I'm doing an MA in Intercultural Communication. They're kinda related on the surface but not really. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up, so I'll probably just keep going back to school and driving myself further into debt. Whee!

Hi, I'm WellBS.  That works several ways for me, as I'm trying to become a well BS (my initials are BS, but only AFTER I got married ;)) and I'm pretty certain that most standard health recommendations are, well, BS.

I'm 34, doing contract work from home, play the ukulele, and read WAY too many books about nutrition.

Works done. We can all go out for drinks now.

Your brain has apparently worked with arrays since the last time mine did.  Mine failed.

Drinks sound good...

Hey all!

I'm Robert, 24, from Scotland, work in a bank helping people manage their finances and have had previous medical issues hence putting the weight on but now.

In my spare time I enjoy being anti-social and playing video games, watching sports, and discovered that I enjoy strength training :)
