Hey guys!

I'm Jeremy, I'm 34 and living in Idaho, USA. I'm originally from Ireland, I'm married with 3 kids, and I work in a prison. I'm not too worried about what I will be when I grow up since i just work to live and not live to work. I do enjoy my job though so that is a huge plus. When I'm being productive I'm teaching myself Spanish and working towards getting back the body that I had when I was 18. When I'm procrastinating I usually read way to much military sci-fi. When I'm feeling social I play a ton of games with friends and family - Ultimate Werewolf One Night and Bang! are my current obsessions.

I didn't do the minis when I was a noob ages ago. What do you have in mind? Like all physical stuff or also things like meditation, try a new food, random 20 seconds of courage moments, etc? (Mostly asking because I'm limited due to a sprained ankle, so I don't want to be all "yes do it!!" and then not participate after you go through all that trouble.)

This is not related to anything, but the colors in your progress bars are so pretty! *o*

Oh yeah I'm definitely thinking a myriad of things especially because we're a mix of newbies and veterans (and everything in between).  I like all those suggestions.

hehe, thanks.  I love colours - i must've been a rainbow unicorn in a previous life :P

Random Mini Suggestions:

  1. Read a chapter of a book you think may have the potential to change your life.
  2. Eat a food you've never had before.
  3. Send a quick email to someone who made a difference in your life.
  4. Spend 15 minutes learning to juggle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8QfqkSPxmo
  5. Clean your workspace/desk for 15 minutes, or until you find something you've been looking for.
  6. Spend some of your time waiting somewhere deleting apps on your phone that you never use.
  7. Take pictures of yourself NOW to compare to yourself LATER.
  8. Swing at a park.
  9. Lay outside in the sunshine for 10 minutes.
  10. Make a list of 10 things you can do in under 5 minutes.
  11. Do something from #10.

Love love love this!!  Thanks.  You will most definitely see some of these over the next few challenges :)

The chat threads have been so sad and quiet over the past few challenges. Should we introduce ourselves so we're all friends?

I'm Flea. I'm in the US, I complain about grad school a lot, I use way too many Supernatural gifs, I'm going to die doing a Spartan Sprint in August (if you're anywhere near DC/MD you are hereby legally obligated to come do it with us), and when I grow up I really want a cat that will perch on people's shoulders/heads/etc, because both my furry assholes are lame and not fun like that. They just stand 3 feet away and meow at you.

I love supernatural so don't you stop :P

Hi Everyone - I'm Blaidd, I'm your guildleader and I apologise for being absent the past few months (it's been hectic). I'm 33, female and live in South Africa.  By daylight I am a GM at a leather manufacturer (we make handbags, wallets and stuff like that) with two degrees (one in Law and one in Accounting) as well a handful of diplomas (inlcuding marketing, event management and baking) - I nerd out on studying and I will be studying investment banking this year. I've been overweight for about 10 years now and morbidly obese for 6 of those. I hate running, but i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE cycling and quite enjoy weightlifting too, but my anxiety got really bad towards the end of last year and I stopped going to gym (I was feeling too overwhelmed and facing strangers wasn't my idea of relaxing), so I built a teeny home gym (a few weights, a mat, stretchy bands etc).  Since we got back from Thailand in January, I have felt too overwhelmed to do anything (I would either lie on the couch and watch my boyfriend game online or crawl into bed and watch stuff), but last week I took some time, joined the challenge and I've been cycling daily again.  The weights will come eventually. I've been with NF since 2012. I love it here.  <3

Hi, I'm Luciana.

Somehow I'm really oldfashinioned with my smilies. I prefer to write them in symbols and not as icons. I also love role playing, swordsmanship and cooking. I'm living in Germany and here I'm with the Monks.

And I usually stalk all the Rebels, because I'm searching for people, who are intrested into martial arts. ^^

Hehe, I love you too Luciana.  You've been great on here the past few months while i took an emotional hiatus. ^_^

Stalk away, it's not creepy at all, but rather comforting.

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on Nerd Fitness for a loooong time (although mostly just reading articles and looking for tips) but this is the first challenge I'm in! I'm Noel, I'm twenty-two, from England originally but I'm living in New York now while I'm in University. I'm studying to become a primary school teacher back home because I love kids and I love to teach! I pretty much nerd out about everything, and I'm looking to get back to my roots when I loved to hike and go on walks and just spend time outside. I haven't done any of that in a while, so I really want to embrace that part of my life again.

I do this, too, but to find circus-y, assassin folk rather than monkish martial artists. :)

Assassin is my eventual aim.  I loved parkour when I was in Austin, even though I never got into good enough shape to REALLY do it.

We have fewer traceurs than we have in the past, but plenty of enthusiastic support and some of the best mini-challenges in the business. :)

Right now, I'm working on getting active without spraining my ankle.  Once I get to a better level on that, I'll be willing to try some more adventurous stuff. ;)

Hello everyone!

I'm Trish, a 33-year-old software developer in Canada with my husband, daughter, and two dogs.

I hear you GothDetective, I grew up in the woods and I'd like to get back to being outside more and exploring.

I love playing video games, singing, and very recently, eating well, working out, and doing yoga!

I just joined the NF Academy a few weeks ago and I've made a number of positive changes and joined the four-week challenge. Now that I'm back at work, I'm feeling the burnout and the effects of sitting all day. Well, better get outside and drink more water!

Do you suppose a thirty year old who has never really been in shape could get into circus-y assassin stuff without killing himself?

I'm sure hoping so, since I'm a thirty-something-year-old who has never really been in shape!

I just read the other day about a woman who got into mountain climbing when she was 70. I can't remember her name, and I may not have the facts right (I can look them up for you if you want) but she ended up becoming the oldest person to successfully scale Mount Fuji at the age of 90... After reading about that, I think we'll be okay lol

Ugh I forgot we can't edit posts and hit submit too early. I am slightly embarrassed on behalf of my school, but also not surprised at all.

Heyo!  Just call me Zah :)

I am 31 and currently an English teacher living in Japan, though I am originally from the U.S.  I love teaching and mentoring but I hate the system.  I recently have discovered what I believe is my calling, coaching.  So I am working towards becoming a life coach and consultant for when I move back to the states next year.  I've never built my own business before and it's kind of scary, but exciting too!

I started a challenge back in November but then life happened and I disappeared.  So here goes try #2.  One of my biggest goals since coming to Japan almost three years ago was to get into the best shape of my life.  Only within the last several months have I actually started doing that, and it has seriously boosted my confidence.

Fandoms...everything?  Lol.

I have recently been reading Wonder Woman for the first time and she has become my adulthood superhero.  Xena was my childhood superhero.  Basically I'm just trying to become an Amazon.  NBD.

Are you doing JET? I swear to god half the people in my grad program half done it. And I'm super jealous btw.

Indeed, I am a JET! :D If you ever want to do it and have any questions, just let me know!

I feel like I'm too old at this point. Like, not that there's an age limit or anything, but it was something I should have done between undergrad and grad school (and honestly though about but decided I wouldn't get accepted because hey, what is self confidence?) But I was talking to the folks at the fancy scholarship office on campus at school about some other ETA things and it was kinda like "well, what you do after you graduate is really important so..." I mean I could still do it. But I'd have to seriously weigh my options. :\ That doesn't quite make sense the way I worded it but it's late and I've had a long day. >> Either way, I've wanted to learn Japanese ever since my weeaboo days so I automatically am in awe of everyone who manages it. (Not because of the weeaboo thing. But because I'm super into languages in general. And I just haven't had the time or resources to focus on that one.)

Forgive me for creeping further, but your name is some kind of flower in Arabic, isn't it?
