On Wednesday, I did a bodyweight level 2 B workout, then I took it easy for Thursday and Friday and just did a lot of walking. I also went non-Paleo Thursday evening by having cake with the family, and boy did I feel sick after having just half a slice! On Friday I also had some non-Paleo indulgences with a wine-and-cheese party after Earth Day cleanup at work.

Nice one on the workouts! Are you a member of the academy? I was too cheap to sign up so just relying on youtube videos and the blog haha. I've only come across the beginner bodyweight workout and the advanced, nothing in between, so I've just been up-ing my reps when it gets easy. Thinking I should branch out a little though.

Shame you felt sick after cake, but good in a way - all the more motivation to stick with paleo!

Yep I'm a member of the Academy; they changed it up now so that it's really geared towards beginners and leveling up gradually. Next week I'll do some experimentation to find out which workout level will be the right level of challenge without killing myself. :-)

For sure! Feeling crappy from non-Paleo food and drink is a good reminder why it's a goal to stay away from it in the first place! I had a coffee with cream today without really needing to, and I'm feeling more burnt out tonight than I usually do. It's a good reminder to stay away from it, and that I should find a decent tasting non-caffeinated tea as a substitute.

I've been finding the last couple of weeks that I'm less motivated to post on my thread and more motivated to creep and comment on other people's threads :-)

Last week I got three bodyweight workouts in, two yoga sessions, and on Sunday I did a bunch of shopping, and then I did meal prep for the week, which was a workout in itself! Yesterday I did the Star B yoga session, it was fun. This morning I did the bodyweight B workout, but I cut it down to two sets instead of three because I was tired and trying not to be late for work. I've been sleeping a little late in the mornings, so trying to fit in exercise has been a little stressful.

Overall I feel like I'm starting to lose steam with my workout momentum; often when I get into things I obsess on them hard for a while, then lose interest and switch to something else. So the end of the challenge is coming at a good time to change things up and try something different.

Same! I never seem to be able to stay interested in the same fitness type thing for more than a month or so. If I had more time on my hands I would just try doing all the things all the time!

Week four is where I lose steam on workouts too! Almost there though!

Overall, my four-week challenge was a success. I made it through starting a new job, continuing to do much more exercise than I normally would and I ate mostly paleo with a few non-paleo days. My logging, journaling, and exercise lagged by the end, along with my energy levels. I started to drink decaf and even regular coffee with cream, which I think messed with my energy levels and digestion.

I've been pondering my biggest challenges during this time period, and what direction I want to take in the next challenge. I think I'm going to join the Druids, so please look for my thread there! (I'll also put it in my signature).

My Goals April 1 - April 30, 2016

Habits to Maintain

  • Paleo Level 7 diet - DONE with some non-Paleo days
  • Bodyweight workouts twice a week - DONE
  • Yoga workouts twice a week - DONE
  • Walking every day - DONE
  • Food log - DONE until a full 30 days was done, then stopped because I was tired of it
  • Exercise log - DONE
  • Tai chi classes at least once a week - NOT DONE - I stopped going after a while because the classes were stressing me out

Goal 1 - Prepare for Success

  • Prepare work lunches for the week the weekend before
    • DONE 100/100 points! I prepared food the weekend before every weekend of this challenge.
  • Reward:
    • 75-100 points: Steak and/or sashimi supper
    • I feel like I've already treated myself to this - we eat pretty awesome when we eat Paleo.

Goal 2 - Get My Om On

  • Meditate for at least 5 minutes every day
    • STOPPED - I found I was avoiding this and it turned out it wasn't a priority

Goal 3 - Work That Body

  • Complete three bodyweight workouts every week
  • Graduate to Bodyweight Level 2 when ready (can complete entire workout in good form)
    • DONE - Bonus 25 XP in Epic Quest
  • Possible 12 workouts
    • DONE 10/12!
  • Reward:
    • 9-12 workouts: Pull-up bar and new workout shirt
    • I also need resistance bands for my next level of workouts, so I'm going to find some.

Goal 4 - Let's Get Flexible

  • Complete three yoga sessions every week (30 minutes and up)
  • Possible 12 yoga sessions
    • DONE 10/12!
  • Reward:
    • 9-12 yoga sessions: Float tank & new water bottle
    • I'm not as interested in a float tank session anymore, I really needed outdoor shoes though so I got some.
