Broba Fett
Greetings all. Been away from the forums for awhile until just recently. Taking this challenge to cement good practices before I set more specific goals. Clifnotes backstory for anyone who is unfamiliar: Lost almost 150lbs, life happened, gained 80 back, life back on track now. Came back to the forums with a new username and ready to get my shit together. Long-winded version in the Respawn link in my sig. Goals: Lift three times per week: Ideally increasing in weight every session but I'm focused on getting back into a rhythm so I can get back into specific programming next challenge. How I pass: Miss 2 or less lifting sessions over the course of the challenge. Eat better portions: Better defined as one plateful for each meal. No seconds, no snacks, no desert. I get my plateful and put the rest away in the fridge for another meal. Only exception is one meal on a Sunday, if we're having a family dinner/get-together/etc.How I pass: Eat correctly for every meal. I am not giving myself leeway on this since I'm not limited the kind of food I'm eating. There is no excuse for eating anything family sized by yourself. Make better beverage decisions: I mostly mean by cutting out almost all caloric drinks during the week. The only exception is milk with my protein shakes. Other half of this is no alcohol until the weekend. (Saturday after my shift through Sunday night.) I'm not a raging alcoholic but I got in the habit of a beer or two per night and that doesn't help with the weight loss. When I do drink, I shall try to stick lower carb with a few hard drinks instead of 10 beers. How I pass: 2 or less inappropriate drinks. Life Goal: Build a garden: The girlfriend is a great gardener and makes great food with the food she produces but has always had to work out of pots on the porch. My goal is to build two raised beds and fill them with a truckload of manure/dirt from the family farm by the end of the month. How I pass: Build and fill at least one raised bed. Might seem underwhelming but I'm focusing on getting a good foundation going this month and then we will insert specific eating restrictions and some lifting programming next month. Reward: If I can pass at least 3 of 4 goals, I'm going to go check out this strongman gym in my town. If I like it, I'll work a membership into my budget. Would love to do a strongman competition someday and that would be the first step. Hopefully someone there can give me the best programming for next month to put me on that path. I'll likely be updating in here daily with how I did goal-wise and discussing the specifics of my workout in the battle log in my sig. Any support in either is welcome! 4 Quote Spoiler Currently... Broba Fett
Disney got rid of Boba Fett crawling out of the sarlaac pit, but kept cute kid Boba Fett. Can you believe that shit? Total horse shit. However, they have been keeping some things from the expanded universe and tweaking them a bit (A Solo kid becoming a Sith, etc) so I have my hopes he'll show up in episode 8 or 9. Jord
I'm also an avid gardener but been totally slacking on planning anything for this year. I've had raised beds in the past but the last few apartments I grew out of pots. I moved to a rental with a yard *GASP* in the fall, so i really need to get my act together on this. Basically, I'm here to talk dirt. 2 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment
Broba Fett
Basically, I'm here to talk dirt. I kind of suck at the actual gardening part but I'm totally planning on having plenty of pictures of shoddily built beds and a truck full of dirt/manure being put in those beds. So there should be plenty of dirt to discuss. I figure if I do that part and the girlfriend does the gardening I can still take half the credit for the resulting veggies. Glad to have you along. Broba Fett
I know it's not challenge time yet but I'm so stoked I had to post about it in multiple places: gf and I did back today. I pulled 295x2x5 and she pulled 205 twice her first time ever deadlifting! Details in the battle log. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk 4 Quote Spoiler Currently... Stronkey Kong
We've got some heavy clay soil here so I have to do some raised beds too for the things that can't tolerate it. 1 Quote ===================================================================================================== --Stronkey Kong-- Link to comment
Wilder
Great goals! Great username! I am also trying to cut back on the liquid calories (*cough cough* beer and whiskey *cough cough*) this challenge. Somewhat indirectly, as I have a calorie goal and not a drink specific goal, but my nightly indulgence has had to become a sometimes-nightly indulgence all the same. 1 Quote WILDER Level 1 Warrior Current Challenge Link to comment

It's pretty awful. Luckily I've got a cousin up a couple hours north of me on the farm I work at on my days off who is going to skim me a bucket's worth of bean field soil and and bucket of manure. I have no idea of the proper ratios of soil to manure so I'm just going to have one of my workouts next month be filling the beds one wheelbarrow of half and half at a time and mixing it all up with a hoe. We'll see what happens. 1 Quote Spoiler Currently... Playing (Video Game): RDR2 DMing: Tyranny of Dragons. First session 11/29. Broba Fett tracks em down. Yeah I usually just drank 1-2 beers per day (don't really need that extra 2-300 calls regardless) but on a night that I actually want to get tipsy I usually have to drink 7-10 beers to get there. That's doing me no good in the calories department at all. So we will see if 3-4 cheap whiskey/diet cokes get me there without loading me full of 1500 cals of beer. Quote Spoiler Currently... Bunch of tomatoes, cucumbers, various hot and bell peppers, onions, various herbs. I'd like to do a couple of those potato towers, one for regular and one for sweet but idk if that will happen this year. We have the list written down and are supposed to get seeds this weekend. Once we have them all officially bought I'll post a full list. You? 1 Quote Spoiler Currently... Playing (Video Game): RDR2 DMing: Tyranny of Dragons. First session 11/29. Broba Fett tracks em down. Yeah weeding is why my garden last year failed. When I finally got plants in the ground I never had time to pay attention to them so they just got overgrown. Luckily the girlfriend works four 10s so she has a little more time to do such things. Quote Spoiler Currently... Playing (Video Game): RDR2 DMing: Tyranny of Dragons. First session 11/29. The trick is reading the seed packets or seedling tags to see how tall it will grow. 1 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment

Is that so you get a large/deep enough pot? 1 Quote --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal Stats: (About Me) Start Weight: 279.6 Current Weight: 270.1 Goal Weight: 220.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Challenge History: Lvl 1 Rebel, PvP, Lvl 2 Warrior, Lvl 3 Warrior --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to comment
Jord
The seed packets or seedling tags will usually tell you how big a plant will get, sometimes width and height. So for example if you read 5 tomato tags and one grows to 18 inches tall and the rest grow to 48 inches tall, you want the shorter one for growing in a pot. Unless you are growing in a giant barrel, in which case I guess you can grow a giant tomato plant. Most people underestimate how deep plant roots really need to grow in order to have good vegetable or herb production. Some plants are bred to be shorter so that they will do better in pots. 1 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment

So take that with a grain of salt. 2 Quote Spoiler Currently... Playing (Video Game): RDR2 DMing: Tyranny of Dragons. First session 11/29. Broba Fett tracks em down.
