I vote for going climbing. :) 

 

I kinda feel like the cardio might do my body more good, but that the climbing might do my soul more good. :) So we'll see. If there's a wait for a belay at the climbing wall, that might decide it. But on the other hand, I haven't climbed in a while and I'm missing it.

Congrats on being so close to your goal!!! Our brains are such liars - I for sure though this weekend was going to set me back in terms of my cut, but I barely gained anything. Our bodies can be pretty good at regulating themselves as long as we are going in the right direction!

You may be on to something there, Ace. I always complain about my inertia when I haven't exercised in a while, but maybe I don't credit myself enough for momentum making me a little more resilient when I am keeping up the exercise and good habits.

My editor loved my article. I've written a lot, but never a feature article like this, and I gave her a bonus interview sidebar that she also liked.

 

I officially cannot tell at all how much I weigh. I thought I had gained weight, and this morning I'm at a record low. One pound off from my ideal target weight!

 

Gym today -- I'm debating between racquetball and shifting my gym time to the afternoon so I can climb (the climbing wall doesn't open until 1).

So much good news! Congrats on the article and on the weight.

I also vote climbing...if you're missing cardio you could try to find a way to either do both or to build it into your climbing.

Climbing it was! After climbing up a 30-foot wall, nothing waiting back at my desk seems nearly as difficult.

You know that stretch where you grip your fingers together behind your back, one arm up and one arm down? And maybe there's a name for it but it wasn't on the first page of my google results but whatever?

 

For some reason, it's been bugging me that I can do that with my right arm up but not vice versa, so I've been doing it a couple of times a day. And it's working!

That was me too! I think I used a belt or something for a day or two, but it started to loosen up pretty quickly after I started working on it.

 

I have no idea why that was bugging me. It's not like I'm called upon to do it very often. Nor am I aware of any life benefit in improving that ability. :)

 

It's weirdly satisfying to feel the progress, though.

Tonight I ran a full 35-minute Zombies Run mission without a walk break.

 

I almost died, but I did it.

 

I've never been so happy to hear Sam order them to open the gates.

When the app announced "mission complete," I ground to a walk and immediately  got cartoon noodle legs. And then Ms. Rogue wanted to take a walk when she got home from work. I'm going to hit 20,000 on my Fitbit today.

I'm a little achey today, but not bad. I really need to stretch better before and after exercising. It's one of my worst habits. I think I'll put it on my challenge next month so I'm more likely to remember and make the effort.

 

The gym called me and they actually have someone else who wants to take the belay class. I haven't been able to take it because they need a minimum of two people, and apparently not many people sign up this late in the semester. I'm trying to arrange it for next Friday. I had already arranged to be at home for a research and writing day, but that might be a good body-focused reward in the middle of a brain-focused day.

 

.6 lbs from target weight. I'm not going to celebrate until I see the number on the scale.

PS: Those American characters in Zombies Run. They sure are American. Definitely American so DON'T EVEN ASK ABOUT THEIR ACCENTS which are a thousand percent not English people imitating movies.

Congrats! That's such a crazy good feeling when you manage a run like that. :D

 

I'm so bad at stretching too. I used to be super flexible when I was doing yoga all the time then I got injured and had to stop for awhile. Now I'm SOOOOO not flexible and when I try to stretch I remember that and get discouraged so I stop. Which is stupid because I'm not gonna get better without practice but...

 

Anyway, tl;dr: Stretching is good. ;)

I'm feeling it in my knees, so I think today is a rest day. As soon as I get off the reference desk I'm going to go take a walk break, though.

 

ETA: maybe also some pushups for the mini if I can remember.
