Darkfoxx 25: Still Kickin

I'm still here - still swamped with school - and still taking small steps so my fitness doesn't got to *absolute* shite. 

 

My goals this challenge:

 

1. Get my ass to the gym every week morning before leaving for school. 15 minutes at least - whatever I feel like I can handle that day -- aim for foam rolling and stretching on Mondays. 

 

2. Macros. You know them, you love them, they work - keep at them. 

 

3. Self-care. As inspired by Kat, take care of yo damn self. This might entail daily vid entries since I'm an Internet magpie and I miss y'all. 

 

4. Check in with people. I'm swamped, but I miss you guys - I need to make a more concerted effort to at least *read* everyone's threads, if not actively participate. Aim for active participation. 

 

And that's it. Super simple this month - focus on small things I can do to stay healthy and don't try to kill myself while massive quantities of information is being shoved into my brain. 

 

Stretch Goal - Rucking. I miss it, but I have like zero time.

Lols. You guys are too funny - and I will definitely make a concerted effort to reserve at least a modicum of attention span for this space in this next challenge. 

 

What were my goals? 

 

Oh yes, self-care, macros, gym time and read threads. 

 

Self care: Ummmm .... yesterday I left the school happy hour early to attend yoga, so I guess that counts? 

Macros: Sucked yesterday. I ate things I was supposed to eat, but ended up shotgunning a sleeve of trail mix on the way to yoga class and then only having a hand full of salami slices after yoga - and called that (along with the Old Fashioned I had at happy hour) dinner. 

Workout: Did 15/20 minutes in the a.m. (a PopSugar 10-minute arm thing, some intense stretching) and then had my hour long yoga class in the pm.

Checking In: Read through most everyone's intro posts for this challenge; got no further than that. Thundercats, ho. 

 

Today

Self care: Nothing yet, really, unless you count this 15-minutes I'm taking in the middle of class to reach out to my Nerds. I hope to get to have dinner in a restaurant with my DH this evening. 

Macros: On track so far, and it looks like the absolute hangriness I've been plagued with for the last two days may be lifting. 

Workout: Got 16 minutes in on the treadmill doing hill walks before my body woke up fully and i had to jet. 

Checking In: I'm still getting used to this new forum unread content reporting business, so I feel super inefficient there. 

 

Plus, my brain has literally broken - we just turned in our first project for class yesterday - you can see mine here - and immediately jumped into Ruby like 10 minutes later. What the everloving F?

Yeah, you're going to need to get used to the whole "Okay, we did this thing, now we are going to do something completely different that is totally unrelated" in this industry. I don't think I used to have ADHD before I got into software development.

Oh boy I have no patience for that game but it's adorable!

Selfishly glad your thread isn't too long yet because it's usually 438329 posts to get caught up.

Yoga totally counts as self-care. Glad I'm not the only one unused to new format (took like three tries to get the system to stop emailing me EVERYTHING).

 

Your badges aren't showing up in your signature for me :(

Don't know if it's just my view or a systemic issue after the change.

I have been completely avoiding the forum on actual computers until yesterday to post my new thread ...

The program is 12 weeks - so I'll be finishing in late June. 

 

My badges aren't showing up for me, either - I'll try re-linking the images when i get a bit of time. 

 

Ruby is making a tiny bit more sense to me today (we're working simultaneously on learning Ruby + Sinatra), but it's still a shaky prospect. 

 

Gym: No gymming over the weekend and not a lot of walking since it was freezing and so windy I felt like I'd gotten my ass kicked every time I walked out of the house. Homework, homework, more homework, rum drinks & a Shameless marathon happened. 

 

Macros: The weekend was half-messy; had about a quarter cup of rice with dinner Friday + 2 rum/ginger ale drinks; Saturday was maybe not horrible? + 2 more rum/ginger drinks; Sunday was full of meat and no veggies + a bunch of fruit. Today, I have lunch which should be good, had my smoothie for breakfast, and have a paleo slow cooker beef stroganoff as a possibility for dinner, if I get home on time. 

 

Self-Care: Had a date with my foam roller this morning - got in a solid 20 minutes. 

 

Check-Ins: Working on it. I've made it through 3 threads this morning, so that's progress at least.

Gym: This morning I slept in 5 minutes and didn't feel like i had enough time to go to the gym, so I did some dumbbell weighted work / dog cuddle yoga in the house. 

 

Self Care: Yesterday, I suppose you could count getting home with time to watch the season finale of TWD. 

 

Macros: Yesterday's food was good - I'm especially thankful that my crockpot paleo beef "stroganoff" worked out.

 

Check-Ins: I got to check in with a whole 3 people yesterday and it was great!

He was a very popular singer for most of the 20th Century. His songs have stayed popular and relevant even today. He also broke into acting, often appearning with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. in a group known as the Rat-pack.
