Honestly I don't remember having a problem with spiders until one summer in Maine when I was a kid (ofc there were spiders fucking everywhere in the first place). But one night I got into bed, felt something weird, pulled back the covers, and flipped my shit when a spider came crawling out. It was probably a small one but I was like 6 and I was having none of it. Now spiders and I are mortal enemies. I have literally thrown books across the room if I turned the page and there was a photo of a spider when I didn't expect it.

I spent about the same amount of money as I usually do at the grocery store, but this time instead of meat, dairy, and junk food I got a shit ton of produce. Apparently Saturday is the day to hit up Aldi. I'm so excited about it y'all. I got a spaghetti squash and a bunch of fruit and some veggies to add to a stir fry because at that froo froo organic store I got seitan and tempeh to try. Oh and Brussels sprouts. Love me some Brussels sprouts. Now I just need to remember to cook it before it spoils. But given the amount of work I have to do this weekend, I'm sure I'll decide cooking is a good way to procrastinate. But I'm so excited about this food wheeeee. 

 

Okay. Vegan meal done. Outside done. Ankle exercises happening as I type. Schoolwork imminent. Huzzah.

Schoolwork hasn't happened yet because I am lame. However, I did discover that silver claddagh rings are nowhere near as expensive as I thought they were. Must lost weight so I can get one without having to get it resized all the time.

Spider got his ass stomped. It may have already been dead when I found it but that didn't make me feel any better. Also please get out of my head. I was thinking this morning that I need to break up the paper instead of going "it's going to be easyish and I'm going to finish it TODAYYYY" and then get frustrated/anxious/etc. But I'mma go do that now.

Haven't timed anything but I have been doing work. Flipping between reading really dense articles for tomorrow's class and looking for other articles for my anthro paper. Which, honestly, it's 7 pages max. It's "not a research paper." And when she presented one of her old papers for us it wasn't littered with quotes and names of theorists. And yet we were all told to go back and do more research when most of us thought we had too much. 8pm Wednesday cannot come fast enough y'all. 

 

I've also been looking at places to get my hair done because either a lot more of it turned gray post hospital drama, or the gray didn't fall out and the rest did so now it just looks like more. Because holy shit it has never been this bad. I don't think I need to cut it but now that it's so thin it just looks flat and sad if I wear it down. Boo.

Welp. I've found some articles for anthro, skimmed some other ones, probably not getting the paper done tonight. Still have work for tomorrow's class and just got an email from the prof I'm a research assistant for and she asked for a bunch of stuff to be done before I meet her at 2pm tomorrow. That's fun. 

 

Otoh, I made my spaghetti squash. Used jarred sauce but added chickpeas and broccoli to it. Also cut up the giant package of celery I bought so I have a snack to take to school tomorrow. So there's that.

 

 

Squash was vegan meal #2, ankle alphabets are done (I need to figure out where I put the resistance band I got forever ago). Went outside for about a minute when some dude running for city council knocked on the door to give his spiel and see if I had any issues but that doesn't count. Technically I will have followed today's scheduled work because it was "do tomorrow's readings and work on anthro paper." But it feels like cheating because I'm so behind. :\

 

Ha, people keep adding me on fitbit. I guess I should start wearing that thing again at some point.

In other news I am totally over this research assistant thing. I think I'm going to give it up next year. The prof I work for is a great person, but so, so unclear in what she wants from me. Sometimes I have no idea what she wants, other times I feel like I know what to look for but just can't find it, still other times I swear she doesn't even look at what I've sent because I get literally no feedback whether good, bad, or indifferent. I've read some of her articles to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing (her interests and mine don't overlap at all, save for the uber-broad "intercultural communication" umbrella) and I still don't get it half the time. And she gives me very little context. At least twice I've gone in with nothing but a broad topic despite trying to clarifying, given her stuff, and gotten "oh. well I wish you'd looked up X" or "oh what I really wanted was Y" where neither X nor Y is readily obvious to me and sometimes only tangentially related. D:

 

This rant brought to you by the fact that I can't fucking find anything and it's almost 1am. This is literally the 4th time since February she's had me search for a specific topic and it's because she co-edited a book that's launching Wednesday on the subject so they have to be up on the latest issues in case people ask questions but like... the field doesn't move that quickly. I'm so frustrated. And I want to go to bed. For a week.
