Jedi's Wedding Dress Challenge- Part 1/12

Recommended Posts

So, if you didn't already know the big news- I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! I'm super excited and my parents and I have been going completely nuts trying to plan things, but we're having so much fun!

And even more exciting, I bought a wedding dress last week!!!

Now here's the kicker- that dress fits perfectly. It just needs a hem. My goal? I want that dress to need alterations. I want them to need to make it a bit smaller. I've got less than a year since they're going to need to take it for its first round of alterations eventually. I'd also like to be at around 150lbs when I get married next April, maybe even 145 if I can manage it. I weighed in this morning at 159lbs so I've got my work cut out for me.

This is how I'm going to do it:

1) Log all food in my logging notebook- This has been a really helpful thing if I don't have to log on here because time. I'll just keep it logged. It keeps me more accountable for what I'm eating in general. It's helped over the past three days anyway.

Essentially All days- A- +2 STA +2 CON

Some days- C- +1 STA +1 CON

Rare- Fail

2) 3 Strength building workouts each week- This is going to be the Blogliates videos. Each video needs to be at least 12 mins long, and I need to do at least 1 full body one each week. I'm not making much progress with lifting so I'm going to try bodyweight style workouts for a while to build up a base strength level.

3 most weeks- A +2 STR +2 DEX

Some weeks- C +1 STR +1 DEX

Rare- Fail

3) 2 Runs per week- I want to start a 5k running program this summer and I need to make time to run during the week. Running is also going to help strengthen my wimpy lungs and heart. Besides, I like running.

2 most weeks- A +2 DEX +2 STA

Some weeks- C +1 DEX +1 STA

Rare- fail

4) 30 mins of portfolio coding each week- This has given me a lot of progress, and I'd like to keep it up.

2 hours of coding over 4 weeks- A +2 CHA +1 WIS

1 Hr of coding over 4 weeks- C +1 CHA +.5 WIS

Less than an hour- Fail

So there we have it. The challenge that's going to do all sorts of useful things for me and my wedding dress and, most importantly, my confidence. I'm so excited about all the things!

WOOT WOOT! A Jedi Wedding?? How exciting! If the wedding is a year away, you'll be GOLDEN for your weight goal. Look at how far you've come without the motivation of the wedding so far! You have the Jedi robe wedding dress now, now you just stay working hard, stay disciplined and rock that dress next April! You only need to lose like 1 pound a month to hit your 145# goal :)

Very excited for you Jedi!

I could probably do more, but I'm still in school (I'm graduating about 4 months before I get married) and know I'm going to need some wiggle room, especially during finals and midterms.

That's actually super feasible :) That makes me really think I can do it! Thanks :)

Do you have any fun projects included in your portfolio work? I find that doing these things for "have to" reasons makes them unreasonably tedious. When I find a project that interests me, it gets better.

Well right now I'm redoing my Sorority's website so they're not reliant on a Weebly site. I want to have that done by this summer so that I can get it up by the fall semester and can teach people how to use it before I graduate.

Next I'm doing my grandmother's jewelry website, I think I need to start over on it though. I've had a ton of ideas since then and want to give her a really great site!

Once those are done, I'll start my portfolio website since I'll have something to have as a start to it :)

Basic plan for the weekend-

Friday- Work and Portfolio stuff. Letting the food stuff be a little more chill than usual for one last day (I had to get rid of the two pieces of stuffed crust bacon and pepperoni pizza my Fiance left me)

Saturday- Good eating habits. Zeta Run for Life 5k. Dance Marathon for 2 hrs. Lots of homework.

Sunday- Good eating habits. Rest day from 5k. More homework. Weekly chores like laundry. Probably some meal prep. More homework.

Fiance started his good eating and meal prep and such today. Can't let him beat me xD

So Sunday was a rest day after my ridiculous day on Saturday. While I ate well most of the day, I kinda killed it with an "eat a lot of food" moment. BUT. I ate something healthier than just every bread I could get my hands on. It's an improvement. A small one, but an improvement.

Got up and worked out this morning - did a Blogilates video! Lots of fun. Now to eat breakfast and ready myself for an AMAZING day :)

Might be still excited for your wedding. You gotta add some sort of Star Wars to it! :P

Following along, even though I don't have a wedding dress goal. Though I still have aesthetic goals for when we finally save up enough money to do something small and fun for ours. :)

Oh most definitely. I'm looking at Star Wars cake toppers. Also, I think that after the entire wedding party walks down the aisle to "Canon in D" I'm going to throw everyone off by walking to the Star Wars theme. If nothing else, it'll keep my dad dry-eyed :)

I've wanted these aesthetic goals anyway, now I just have more reason to work even harder!

Yupp!

I actually did make an improvement today. I didn't overeat at all, my only problem was that I didn't enjoy the sandwich I got for dinner so I added an extra dessert -_- but I walked a ton today and I ran after class so I'm not as bothered.

I've come up with some disaster avoidance techniques too:

1) I can read at mealtime as long as I make sure to make ALL that I'm going to eat before I start reading.

2) If I'm reading outside of mealtime, I need either water, tea, knitting, or some combination of the three to keep me from wanting to nom everything

3) Try not to eat more than 4 grain-heavy things each day

4) 1 dessert/alcohol per day except for rare occasions when I'm having a few drinks socially (aka with Fiance or friends staying the night)

5) No food after 7pm because I end up sick in the morning otherwise

I also am helping a heartbroken friend take control of her fitness life. I used a system like this one, and hopefully I can convince her to join the rebellion soon!

Leia's Theme would be the obvious choice

Only downsides are it's not as recognizable and also a pianist has to be able to play it

But that would be awesome!

Today so far! I've done my workout- and a hard one too! My eating has gone well and I have a plan for the rest of today if I need it. I'm managing to get my body and brain back to used to eating properly- even while reading! So I'm managing well. It helps that it's a new book and not one that I regularly associate with large and unnecessary meals. After a while, I may test those 'comfort books' against my Jedi Powers :)

Do both! We are incorporating elements from Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Dark Tower and a little bit of Blues Brothers for good measure hahah. But all kind of subtle so that it blends in nicely together.  If you want to go all out hardcore themed you're right you probably would want to pick just one :D.  Or not! Combo themes could be totally cool. Like a big HP/LoR cross over event. IMAGINE THE INSANITY!

Haha! Nice. xD My mom suggested to me that if my boyfriend and I get married, we should have a LEGO cake (he is big into LEGOs/stop motion). I haven't brought that one up with him, though... I don't necessarily want a LEGO cake ;)

Nice work! Have you just been portioning out your food before you sit down to read, or what? I'm glad it's working for you. ^_^

I might do both! I was thinking of uber-subtlety. Example: I am Hufflepuff, he is Slytherin, so naturally if we get married our wedding colors have to be green and yellow.

I can see that, I've had to gently disabuse Fiance of notions such as a playlist made up entirely of Ellie Goulding x_x She's talented and I like her music, but I like other music too!

And I am, it's made things a lot easier. I'm also doing some art homework while I'm reading and keeping coffee/tea next to me so that I'm not constantly eating everything in sight :) Later I'll knit while I read
