Yasha92
I’m baaaack! Last challenge fizzled out for me, I fell off the wagon pretty hard for a number of reasons, none of them very good and all of them sounding a lot like excuses (tapatalk stopped sending me notifications, my mother-in-law-to-be gave us her car while she’s overseas, with the intensive over I felt like I didn’t have to be accountable for classwork and other just general rebellious behaviour). Dusting myself off to get back into it this challenge. We might be moving early next month taking over the lease of a friend which ends on the 9th May. We’re just waiting to hear from his real estate whether they are happy for us to do so. So the focus for this challenge is to cull-cull-cull so we only move what we actually love and what we want to use. Frankly we have too much stuff, way too much stuff, (I’m serious- I had clothes in my drawers and closet and Mr has clothes in the study and yet we still had 4 baskets of laundry in assorted levels of clean and/or folded!). To get me started I’ve tidied up the house a bit so I have space to properly go through things, washing dishes and doing laundry and so on, I’ve also purged 3 enviro-bags of clothes in my prep-weekend. There’s a load of laundry in the machine and another on the line, but there’s space in my drawers now. We’ll probably have to put down a bond, as well as paying for movers if we can’t get enough friends to help us, as such we’re on a budget as well for this month to get us a little bit of free money to have flexibility if we need it. Mr will be working all sorts of crazy awful shiftwork this month, so he might be sleeping and I’ll have to work around him. I have my final exam for MARK804 on the 23rd. All this taken into consideration my goals for this challenge are as follows: Move what you love and love what you move: Until we have confirmation either way about the new place I will ditch 1 item/day. If the message comes through that we will be moving I’ll then up it to include packing a box/day. Bonus points for selling any of the things I’ve meant to sell for ages (fishtank, car, boots). Get your papers in order: With the exam upcoming I need to do 10 homework questions/night, I will also incorporate reading over the case-studies we have been given as prep. Spending slowdown: I’ve allocated us $500ftn spending money, the rest going to regular payments (rent, bills, paying off playstation/engagement rings) and savings to ensure we have a nice little nest-egg by the time we move (if we move). While it seems like a lot it is tricky to stick to – I’ll have to be mindful not to buy lunch at work and I’ll pack a box of tea to drink instead of purchasing beverages on campus. Bag lady: This one will be sporadic and optional – there is a group called boomerang bags that makes reuseable bags to lend to people instead of them using plastic bags, I would like to go to at least 1 bag-day to help with making said bags and reducing the overall single-use-plastic situation. I would also like to up my own use of reusable bags instead of single-use plastic. 3 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
Welcome welcome friends and followers, only a short update tonight as we went way overtime at the game fighting a beholder and I have work early tomorrow. Move what you love and love what you move: Pitched a crossword book and a soduku as well as a book about doing a handmade wedding – I’ve read it before and there’s nothing in there that wouldn’t be on pinterest, and not that much that speaks to me. 3/1. Get your papers in order: I did 8 questions tonight – 9 was a repeat question and 10 I couldn’t find the answer and so will consult with someone else tomorrow. 8/10 Spending slowdown: I don’t get paid until Thursday, so we’re pretty skint. I parked on campus (fool!) which chewed up a chunk of money I could have avoided spending by being a tad more organised. Packed lunch and no purchased beverages a win though. Bag lady: There’s a sew-in on Wednesday which I’m interested to go to if I can. 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Yasha92
Apologies in advance if my text is tiny- since the update posting from my phone comes up in mini text. Move what you love and love what you move: I chucked an air freshener that I hate the smell of. Get your papers in order: I managed to stay awake in class, but couldn't bear to do any homework after. Spending slowdown: Walked in. Home-made lunch and brought-in tea. Spent $3.50 on campus for hit of caffeine before class. Went out to 'eat street' with Mr as payday date night, spent $40 on assorted street foods. Did grocery shopping, spent $45ish - $90 of $500 spent, but we have food in the house again which makes for ease of homemade lunches. Bag lady: No change here. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92
Doing the update the morning after isn't really working for me, since I don't have the opportunity to tick things off when I'm doing my before-bed write-up. As such I'll be doing two posts today - yesterday's update and then this evening I'll do today's update. Hopefully that will encourage a little more consistency on the goals. Friday~ Move what you love and love what you move: 1 T-shirt pitched, I expect there will be quite a bit purged today as I've got a nice-weather Saturday and Mr will be at work for the afternoon so I'll have nobody to talk to and distract myself with. Get your papers in order: I've now used up all my 'spare' nights where I can get away without doing the homework since the teacher explained the first 30 questions wouldn't be in the exam. Need to buckle down and start kicking these questions butts. Spending slowdown: I didn't spend any money, however Mr wanted to take me on a proper date, so we went out to Mexican on his shout. Bag lady: I spotted some old branded bags in a drawer at work that I'll donate to the boomerang cause. Otherwise nope. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92
Move what you love and love what you move: I took 2 folders of paperwork to uni and scanned them into an external harddrive- over 200pages into the mega-shredder. Tossed 3 DVDs and 2 CDs and put almost all of my DVDs into the right covers (there are still some empty covers, which means there must be some DVDs in game cases somewhere. I cleaned out, scrubbed and put the fishtank up on Facebook asking if anyone wanted to buy it before I put it up on the classifieds- my brother said yes, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have $50, so I might work out a deal where he does trash-bashes at the trade-in-rate of $1 per bag… I also collected 4 empty paper boxes from the library ready to start filling (still no confirmation yet). Get your papers in order: I did the homework questions and compiled the question bank- I plan to go through answering all the questions from the textbook and then go back and try to answer them without looking the answer up. We shall see how that goes. Spending slowdown: I bought lunch and went to the shops to get cheese for dinner – spent $26. I’m always surprised when I do a spending curb just how much rubbish I buy for no good reason, or worse- to be polite. I walked out of Kmart without spending a cent, because they didn’t have the book I went in looking for, usually I would have at least bought a pack of candy or a candle or something so that I left via the checkouts and not the entry doors. Bag lady: Nothing organised until 20th. 4 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment

Spending slowdown I should never acknowledge going wel in this department, because my brain interprets it as 'yay, we have money to spend' we went to the movies twice- back to back zootopia and batman vs superman, both were pretty ok and I had a good time. Yasha92
So I took a few days off the wagon, sort of half-assed jogging along behind it. I kept up with some things and let others go. I’m back now though, ready to get back to it. I noticed that having the car easily accessible leads me to drive-thru a lot more, which is a pretty bad reaction to having a bit of vehicular freedom. Hopefully now that I’ve flagged it I’ll be able to talk myself out of it – for the rest of the challenge I will have no drive-thru food, and if I am taking someone else through the drive through I will only have a drink. Move what you love and love what you move: I’ve been chipping away at this over the half-week of ‘meh’ and have a half-bag of assorted donations to take to the op-shop. Today I’ve also curbed a fold-down chair and a CD stacker. I expect to do a fair bit more purging and packing once Mr goes to work today. Get your papers in order: I spent a couple hours last night and this morning answering the questions that may be in the exam – of the 34 pictured above (I’ve colour-coded and answered on the back of flash-cards to help me memorise them) there will be 9 selected in the exam, of which I will choose 6 to answer. There will also be two long-answer essay questions which I have to do more reading on, but if I smash the 6 short questions I’ll pass the exam overall. Spending slowdown: This has been a complete mess, not for spending on campus, but for eating a lot of take-out and junk. Bag lady: Nothing organised until 20th, however I did bring home the 2 bags I found at work with last year’s date on them to take to be re-purposed. 1 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92
The only way I seem to stay on track is to update every day, so I'm going to try and be more focussed about that. This is the last week for the paper part of the challenge, as the exam is on this coming Saturday. Move what you love and love what you move: I made an effort to tidy up the house, since I'd been purging and not seeing any difference, by doing some of the mundane but necessary adulting (folding, vacuuming, dishes) I was able to get a better look at our current space rather than dreaming about our maybe-future place. I put out a crappy clothes horse, although I'm not sure that counts since I bought a nice one to replace it... Pitched a few cat toys he never plays with and a set of sheets. Papers: I half-heartedly read over some of the flash cards, I need to start practicing writing the answers from scratch. Spending: better, no drive thrus. I bought the clothes rack and sox&jox for Mr, but otherwise pretty much no spending. I'll reset the cash-count once I get paid on Thursday, Bag lady: nothing till the 20th, I'm looking forward to it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote Mini | | Jan 16 || Feb 16 || Mar 16 || April 16 || July-Aug 16 || Aug-Sep 16 . || Sep-Oct 16 || Oct-Nov 16 || Dec 16 || Jan 17 || March 17 || April 17 || May 17 || August 17 || Sep 17 || Oct 17 || Grind it out || Jan 18 || Feb 18 || April 18 || May June 18 || Nov 18 || Oct 19 || Early 2020 || Halfway thru 2020 || Yasha High-5s herself || Jan 2023 || Current Challenge: Yasha holds steady (Feb-Mar 2023) Link to comment
Yasha92
Move what you love and love what you move: I wrote up a chore list which will hopefully keep the house somewhat in order in the lead-up to the exam. If I can get some clutter purged in the next few days, excellent, if I can't manage to with all the exam-stress I need to at least stay on top of that little chore list. I purged a bag of plastic bags to the recycling as well as several bags of plain old trash. (My house is generally a mess, so when I do a deep clean I find all sorts of surprises, like wine bottles under the spare bed, or a pizza box under the desk). Get your papers in order: I forgot to take the flashcards to work, I will take them today, to practice in my lunchbreak. Spending slowdown: Pretty good, spent $4 on campus to buy toast to go with my home-packed soup. $4 for toast! definately made me determined to bring my own toast since that's like the price of a whole loaf from the supermarket. Yes my state is far too happy to just hand out plastic. I'm trying to reduce my single-use plastic as much as possible by bringing my own bags, but I still seem to wind up with a lot. There's a company that has partnered with my local supermarket to collect the plastic bags and re make them into outdoor furniture for schools, so I keep the bags I do get to return to the shops. I look forward to hopefully reducing my plastic bag use to nil one day, but for now... Love your organization method for exam prep-very impressive! Thank you! The colours make it less painful. I tested myself on them yesterday and I knew 3/35 off by heart.
