sterre
Spoiler Hi everyone! I sat out the last challenge because I was feeling cruddy at the end of the February challenge and then I got all kinds of sick during March which really sucked and threw me off doing anything. Now that the days are getting noticeably longer though and I feel like I'm finally shaking off the last residuals of the flu, I find myself with all kinds of energy which I should use in productive ways and lucky for me, a challenge is starting just when I want to get everything together again. This challenge is going to be about getting back into good fitness/life habits and also focusing on more environmentally-friendly habits in honour of Earth Day, which falls on the 22nd of the month. As such, my quests are... Quest 1. Get outside! This goal exists because in March I barely went outside except to go places (e.g. the store). I would like to make sure I get some quality time (at least 30 minutes) outside each day. This goal includes going out for a run, but also walking/hiking in a park or even just wandering around the city in principle. As long as I don't have a super specific goal and I use my feet to send me on my way, it counts. Grading: A = 22+ days, B = 17-21 days, C = 11-16 days Statistics: +2 DEX, +2 CON Quest 2. Yoga! Yes, back to yoga. I lapsed on it while I was sick and have failed to resume it as a consistent habit. I will aim for five yoga sessions a week. I'm not going to be measuring the amount of time or anything, but I will be aiming for quality time with my yoga mat. Grading: A = 16+ yoga sessions, B = 12-15 yoga sessions, C = 8-11 yoga sessions Statistics = +2 STR, +2 CON Quest 3: Return of the poi! As there is more daylight out, I feel like this is something I should do now. My new place doesn't quite have the space for it (all the lights hang from the ceiling, which suggests it's a terrible idea), so it will have to happen outside, which makes it somewhat weather dependent, but I can spin in the drizzle so it's probably fine. I'll aim for 30 minutes a week of poi. Grading: A = 96+ minutes of poi, B = 72-95 minutes of poi, C = 48-71 minutes of poi Statistics: +1 DEX, +3 CHA Life Quest A: Waste not... Produce no unnecessary food waste. This means that what gets bought gets eaten, with the exception of the bits and pieces that normally aren't edible. So basically, I'm aiming to avoid letting things go bad. Grading: Pass = no unnecessary food waste produced; Fail = I throw something out that just went bad Statistics: +1 WIS Life Quest B: ...want not. Buy nothing (other than food/drink/non-material things) that's both new and unnecessary. If it's just something I would like to have, but don't need I'll buy it used if I buy it at all. Obviously the definitions of want and need are somewhat subjective, but if some emergency comes up (e.g. my washing machine eats my sports bra; I get a job that requires me to dress all fancy every day; if my laptop dies etc) and I actually need to buy something that's difficult to find used, then I need to be able to do so, but I'm not going to buy something that's new which I really don't need. Grading: Pass = no unnecessary new purchases; Fail = unnecessary new purchases Statistics: +2 WIS 2 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment

sterre
Week 1, Day 1 Quest 1. Get outside! I went for a run today. I ran 3 km in about 20 minutes, so with warm up and cool down walking, that was 30 minutes outside for the day. (1/7 days outside) Quest 2. Yoga! I did a daily stretch routine and yoga for runners post-run. (1/5 yoga sessions) Quest 3: Return of the poi! No poi yet. (0/30 minutes of poi) Life Quest A: Waste not... Well, apparently I'm starting this on hard mode since my partner insisted we needed bean sprouts for stir fry today. I managed to fit a bit more than half the bag into the stir fry, so tomorrow it looks like Pad Thai for dinner. Life Quest B: ...want not. I bought nothing other than food. 1 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment

Nobody's perfect Thanks! I'm pretty excited about getting outside more since it's warming up and there are flowers basically everywhere (people in this city seem to love daffodils). I also hear you on not being perfect for the wasting/wanting thing. I mostly figure that it's really good to think about things before buying them and too often, it's easy to buy stuff without really thinking about it and then never using it. If this challenge makes me think about buying less produce because I can't eat it all before it goes bad, then that's good. If it means that I search a few thrift stores for something I want instead of just running to the mall to buy it or if I do without because it's not something I really needed in the first place, then that's also good, I think (if only because our place is small so the less stuff we have, the better). 40 minutes ago, Gaming_Jeweler said: Yay! From today's play session, it looks like I'm a bit rusty and I'll have to re-learn a few of the things I was working on, but I can manage to do a lot of stuff I was doing before, which is always good. sterre
Week 1, Day 2 Quest 1. Get outside! I took a long, detour-filled walk to the Chinese grocery store and back home, then I went out to play with my poi for a bit. The walk was purposeful, but I took a few different turns on the way, admired the flowers and enjoyed the weather when it started to be sunny out (plus I think that trip was an hour or so). (2/7 days outside) Quest 2. Yoga! No yoga yet, I'll try to get some in before bed. (1/5 yoga sessions) Quest 3: Return of the poi! I played with my poi for about 15 minutes in the garden behind my building. I was mostly trying to see what I remembered and what I forgot, but I spent some time just playing with a 3-beat weave and turning with it because I continue to find that fun. (15/30 minutes of poi) Life Quest A: Waste not... So I made Pad Thai, successfully using the rest of the bean sprouts. There are some leftovers still and we now have an abundance of tofu, but that should be fine. Life Quest B: ...want not. Just food again. 3 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment

Instead, I went to the park with my partner and we tossed a disk around for about 40 minutes. (3/7 days outside) Quest 2. Yoga! No yoga. Eep! (1/5 yoga sessions) Quest 3: Return of the poi! No poi. sterre
Sorry I disappeared. This time, I mostly kept doing things and tracking independently though, so that's better than it could have been. Week 1 Summary Quest 1. Get outside! I only went to the store on Friday, but otherwise, I did good. 6/7 days outside (A) Quest 2. Yoga! I did not do quite so well here, only getting two sessions in. 2/5 yoga sessions (C) Quest 3: Return of the poi! I got a little more poi in on Saturday, but not that much. 20/30 minutes of poi (B) Life Quest A: Waste not... Nothing wasted! (A+) Life Quest B: ...want not. I didn't buy anything other than food and necessities, despite the abundance of cute springtime clothes. (A+) Week 2 Summary Quest 1. Get outside! Monday and Tuesday, I only went to the store. I did get a really nice long walk in on Wednesday though, which was good. Only one run though. 5/7 days outside (B) Quest 2. Yoga! I did a lot better here. I got four sessions (though one was more of an impromptu stretch). (A) Quest 3: Return of the poi! I was not quite so good at getting in much poi at all. I practiced for just 10 minutes. 10/30 minutes of poi (D) Life Quest A: Waste not... Nothing wasted! (A+) Life Quest B: ...want not. I didn't buy anything other than food and necessities. I went to a beer festival and the ticket included a free glass, but I didn't know that until after I got there. I didn't buy a t-shirt though, so that's good. (A+) Week 3 Partial Summary Quest 1. Get outside! So far, I've been outside for reasons other than going to the store four days. I didn't go outside at all yesterday because I was being exceptionally lazy and I've only been running once. (4/7 days outside) Quest 2. Yoga! So far I have done three yoga sessions this week including two that were long. (3/5 yoga sessions) Quest 3: Return of the poi! I decided to learn how to do a windmill with my poi and now I can basically do it so yay for me! (20/30 minutes of poi) Life Quest A: Waste not... Nothing wasted so far. We had to toss a bit of kale, but it was just the sort of stuff you don't really want to eat anyway. Life Quest B: ...want not. I haven't bought anything other than food this week. My partner bought himself a portable speaker, but I didn't really have much to do with buying it except for being there when he did. And now I'll try to catch up on everyone else's threads. 2 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment

sterre
Week 3 Summary Quest 1. Get outside! Well, I got out for a while on Saturday, but not Sunday. 5/7 days outside (B) Quest 2. Yoga! And my Sunday yoga session got derailed... 3/5 yoga sessions (B) Quest 3: Return of the poi! So did any extra poi.. 20/30 minutes of poi (B) Life Quest A: Waste not... Nothing wasted. (A+) Life Quest B: ...want not. I had to buy some drugs to soothe my upset stomach, but otherwise nope. My last day of week 3, I had so much planned, but I just totally fizzled out. I was feeling a bit sore in the morning and I thought it was just some DOMS (my Saturday yoga routine included some planks, then I went out clubbing with my partner and my way of dancing tends to be belly dancing with some modifications, so it can be pretty ab intensive), then I ended up with really bad indigestion and just couldn't do anything. I managed to make a trip to the store to get some tablets which settled things a bit eventually, but yeah, it was not fun. I'm feeling better today though and hopefully I'll continue to be fine throughout the week because I have a lot to catch up on. Here are my goals for this week, since I would like to ace this challenge. Week 4 Goals Quest 1. Get outside! It looks like I have to get outside at least six days this week. I'll aim for every day, including three runs. Quest 2. Yoga! I have to do at least five yoga sessions. This should be pretty doable as long as I don't slack. Quest 3: Return of the poi! I need to get at least 46 minutes of poi done this week. I've definitely done it before in past challenges, so it's really just a matter of getting back into the habit and actually doing it. Life Quest A: Waste not... Continue wasting nothing. Life Quest B: ...want not. Continue buying nothing that's new. All in all, it's doable, I just have to make sure I do it. 2 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment
sterre
Time for a really late update! Week 4 Summary Quest 1: Get outside! I got out every day! I even spent probably about 6 hours outside on Saturday. 7/7 days outside (A+) Quest 2: Yoga! I fell short here, ufortunately. I still got some yoga done, but not as much as I'd hoped. 3/5 yoga sessions (B) Quest 3: Return of the poi! Lots of poi! 55/30 minutes of poi (A++) Life Quest A: Waste not... Nothing wasted. (A+) Life Quest B: ...want not. I bought some used books and I had to replace the soles on my boots (or at least get them patched). These are both fine for the environment and I'm actually pretty proud of myself for getting my boots repaired instead of just getting new ones the way I probably normally would. Challenge Summary Quest 1: Get outside! This challenge, I got out 23 days, which is pretty good. I didn't get as much running in as I would have liked, but I did get out to enjoy the spring time more, which is nice, even if spring here can sometimes be a bit cold. Grade: 23/28 (A-) Statistics gain: +2 DEX, +2 CON Quest 2: Yoga! I really did not make the grade on yoga this challenge. For some reason, I just really wasn't feeling it, I guess. Maybe I set my goals a bit high shooting for five sessions a week, but I really should have done better here. I'll try to do better next time. Grade: 12/20 (B-) Statistics gain: +1 STR, +1 CON Quest 3: Return of the poi! I had a slow start on this one, but in the end, I managed to pull it off! I learned how to do a windmill, which is something I skipped over when I was learning poi previously because I was working indoors. I also started to work on learning flowers, but that's going to be a process. I will definitely be doing this one again. Grade: 105/120 (A) Statistics gain: +1 DEX, +3 CHA Life Quest A: Waste not... sterre
Okay, so next challenge I'm going to try to be a bit more focused. I sort of bought a scale yesterday and it did not have very good news for me so I'm going to have to step up my challenges, even if it means that I might not do so well on them. I've been working a bit harder in week 0 (my week 0 so far has been way more productive than my week 4 for a lot of things) and I'll be aiming to keep that up. I'm also going to try to post more because it's really not so fun when I just put it off and I don't tend to hold myself accountable very well when I don't do that. 1 Quote Level 9 Amazon Druid STR : 17 | DEX : 23 | STA : 22 | CON : 23 | WIS : 21 | CHA : 15 Challenges: 10, 9, 8, 7.1, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 3, 2, 1 Battle Log Link to comment
