Is couchsurfing still a thing?

I'm no stranger to travel (even if it's only been up and down the east coast) but I'm a total couch-surfing newbie. Does anyone else do it on here? I recently verified myself and was looking to see if there was a profile exchange thread but didn't see anything. Also, any tips or tricks people would like to share would be greatly appreciated!

We host in Vermont and are planning to stay with someone we hosted a year ago in Sweden next Summer   Of the 5 times we've hosted 3 have been excellent and led to real friendships. Two were "fine".
