Could have been smarter with food scheduling, but considering the schedule wasn't exactly under my control and the bedclothes just did not want to dry (hairbaaaaaall in the niiiiiiight...my heel found it in the mornin'....), I did okay. Still not feeling 100%, but getting there. Make pulled beef and homemade rosemary ketchup (the latter being an ingredient in the former), got a text that it was time to meet up with my parents--yes, both this time--to go train. First time coaching mom in person in months. Scheduling issues. She's been having issues with her hand drawing up and becoming painfully tight after gym sessions. I think we discovered it's due to her extending her wrist big time when taking a grip. She wasn't sore same day after lifting, so we're taking that as a positive sign. Came home, ate beer marinated grilled chicken, arborio rice + butter, and veggies. Worse days have been had than this one.

The rebuilding commences. A solid day for a change, nothing eventful. Did gym, did dojo, put in the time and started learning New Things.

 

This week I need to make putting up clothes that have no home ATM a prioriry, as well as working on polishing some of my stuff. Maybe pretend to take care of my jewelry, ya know? And get around to testing that floor cleaner eventually. May not happen, but it will have to sooner or later.

Oh yeah, I am supposed to update this, huh? Well, not much to report, sadly. I am recovering slowly, kinda sorta. I wasn't up for multiple singles on squats, so I axed the remaining 2. Deadlifts were passable. Aikido was bokken practice, taitsubaki. AKA, there's two of us with wooden swords and we're actually sorta swinging them at each other. Very carefully.

 

Screwed up on Thursday, fell asleep for an hour around 7PM, and that threw everything off. Stayed up an extra half hour. Macros are okay-ish, could be better. Iron, same. Forgot to take it one day. Blah.

Well, this gym session didn't feel like complete trash?? Still gonna do a deload week, because I need it. My macros are not the best, but at least they're getting increasingly consistent as the week moved on. Like I said on my last post, I missed curfew once because of the Nap. Otherwise...yeah. Work was a hurricane. I took a really, really awkward way home because riiiiight before turning onto our street there was a massive wreck that screwed 10+ miles of highway into parking lot status. Which means no grocery run. Again. Sigh. My routine-loving self cries. Then before food I napped and after food I fell asleep with the lights on. Pretty much sums this week up.

...at least I was consistent at one thing this week?? Consistently under on my calories, that is. The only high macro is sugar, and that's due to cherries and a strawberry shake from the YOLO files. Also, it was just flat HOT on Sunday. 

 

In my own defense, I almost didn't do squats between feeling drained and needing to get some TLC on a persistently bad-tempered muscle. Managed to relocate a workable stance and made it happen. Coming up is a deload week that I'm kicking off right by blowing off the first session completely lol. Sleep was more important. 

 

I've done okay on curfew, but not so good with my iron. Still working on making that a habit. STILL haven't mopped the floor, unless you count cleaning up after ants that decided Sunday was partytime at our house. Cat food hardest hit. I will just about be forced to do it by Saturday, because we're having a cookout and can't be having gross floors then. I also plan to work on the polishing project with that copious free time I will have this week (lol). 

 

In other news, @Sam Ashen showed up local-like to kick off vacation-time. We had this whole meetup thing going on, hung out for a bit and made some food disappear. That was really cool. Uninvited guest star Sudden Rainstorm made an appearance, but we didn't get too wet. Hopefully a good time was had by all. Now we've closed out June and are headed for the pinnacle of summer.

HOO boy. June, wow what craziness hast thou wrought. Work shenanigans, belt test jitters, and performance drain in the gym. Whee. You know what this means.... 

 

Lift

The first week will feature my first deload of this program. I need it. Badly. Then resume as scheduled and put everything I have into making progress.

 

The mission: log workouts. Brag or b*tch as necessary.

Despite Week 4's cherry/frozen treat episode, I am relatively pleased with my ability to deal with sugar in a moderate fashion. I don't even want to visit the vending machines at work. My weight is fairly stable. The one sore spot is making taking supplements more of a no-brainer. I will give it some more time before I relocate when I schedule taking them. Once again, I am interested in pinning down cyclic hormonal stuff. Week 3 seems to be the prime suspect. Oh and do something about that adductor trouble. I'll figure out something that will help.

Fact: I find that sugar from whole real food even if I'm busting my limits with it doesn't appear to cause the same crazy cravings that jelly beans do :o I don't know if psychosomatic or a real feature of whole real food, but it makes me happy

Seriously guys, I will tear up some sleep like nobody's business if given half a chance. Also it was hot as crap, so my appetite took a big fat siesta, too. I did make my calorie target, but nothing else. Strawberry shake happened. That was the extent of the festivities. Mike grilled some chicken.

 

I polished the dickens out of some jewelry, 75% of the way there by my reckoning. Dragged my tablet out and restarted Final Fantasy: Dimensions  (FFD). Got to keep up that nerd accreditation somehow.

Hiya - caught up after a month away.

 

Congratulations on the belt test and the PRs!

 

I see you continue to track your macros like a hawk. Clearly things are going better because you reported only one migraine last month. You also report no deaths at your work, even though you had abundant cause for self-preservation.

 

My sympathy on the A/C woes. We finally had ours inspected last week. The professional confirmed that our A/C was installed in the 80's, is leaking coolant and is not worth fixing. Dumbledore is scheduling installation of a new central air system. Ouch. $$$. I hope you get a tolerable solution to your A/C woes. Your hot weather is much worse than ours.

Do you have a method for tracking the hormonal symptoms? I found an app called Flo that I really like (iOS, not sure if they have an android version). You can track period dates and a bunch of symptoms along with it (e.g., headaches, bloating, mood swings...). It also has a pill reminder function if you want to add a "take supplements" reminder :P. I still have trouble remembering my mid-day supplements (and I can't switch the time because I have to keep my iron away from my thyroid meds, which I take AM and PM).

Minus $600 later, we have cold air ATM. Temporary, as the tech could not locate the leak. Plugging new coils into old unit will probably be our next step when the freon leaks out. Anybody have thoughts on likelihood of longterm success? Everybody in our neighborhood has had to replace their unit except us. Providence spared us that blow while I was jobless, but the bill may come due soon. Ugh.

 

Also our 5 year old coffee maker broke. Have you tried shopping for a new coffee maker? It's like buying a dang cell phone now. Sheesh.

 

These join the leaking dishwasher and flickering kitchen light. Sigh. Maybe we should break down and actually clean the cleaning appliance more often than after it floods our floor, huh?

I see you continue to track your macros like a hawk. Clearly things are going better because you reported only one migraine last month. You also report no deaths at your work, even though you had abundant cause for self-preservation.

 

My sympathy on the A/C woes. We finally had ours inspected last week. The professional confirmed that our A/C was installed in the 80's, is leaking coolant and is not worth fixing. Dumbledore is scheduling installation of a new central air system. Ouch. $$$. I hope you get a tolerable solution to your A/C woes. Your hot weather is much worse than ours.

Do you have a method for tracking the hormonal symptoms? I found an app called Flo that I really like (iOS, not sure if they have an android version). You can track period dates and a bunch of symptoms along with it (e.g., headaches, bloating, mood swings...). It also has a pill reminder function if you want to add a "take supplements" reminder :P. I still have trouble remembering my mid-day supplements (and I can't switch the time because I have to keep my iron away from my thyroid meds, which I take AM and PM).

I may have to resort to an app, but I think I may have some the issues dealt with. We'll see.
