Calories2439/ 2397, 1999, 2423

Well, it could have been worse, I suppose.

Sleep

Curfew: 7/12

I'm not sure I math'd the days right, but anyway. I did well on getting to bed during work weeks and not so well otherwise.

Aikido

Bokken time: 4/6

Um...well. I guess it wasn't an utter disaster given the holidays happened. I did my training on Saturday and Sunday so I could say I got in the last sessions of the year and made them count. I watched the ball drop from the comfort of my parents' house, because have you seen the weather lately?? Copious amounts of peppermint, chocolate, and coffee were consumed in various combinations.

Back to the grind, boys and girls.

...ish? So far I still do not want to move. We shall see.

My mom saved the day and sent us home with leftovers. GOD BLESS LEFTOVERS.

That feel tho. I am hoping we discover fire soon so I can take this coat off. As it stands now, my outerwear is still on lol.

Added in my training log on the report above, but here it is again:

Saturday's session was something else, but I made it. 185lb deads were not as terrible as I had imagined--close, but quite lol.

Sunday I ended the year on an upswing with triple digit benching action. Never done multiple singles at that weight before, so that was a barrier broken.

Seriously, until this latest program I've set out on, I never understood the power of singles. But now I do. Now I do...

1RM lifting is a skill in its own right. Once you're out of novice territory, it pays to get comfy being really, REALLY unsure whether you're gonna get stapled/pinned/jarred/other unfun things.

January 2018 Goals

giphy.gif

That time is now

Well I got back on the Slo-Mag and am officially 87% less crippled as a direct result. The Survival series continues, because holy crapbaskets EOY is here and it is not disappearing until the stroke of midnight 1/31. All the bills ever both one-time and not-so-one-time are coming due. It's cold as Hell stuffed into a walk-in freezer. My birthday is tomorrow and it doesn't matter in the normal social surroundings outside of my own roof because of the timing. I need to decide if I am serious about belt testing in February. HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS.

Food

December's macros average out to:

Calories: 2327

Protein: 114

Fiber: 30

giphy.gif

Energy has been a lot more stable as a result. I still am having headaches, though, outside of the normal blah dee blah hormonal issues. I often get headaches around 1- 1:30-ish and in the later afternoon. Driving home in the dark is just gawd-awful, y'all.

My two top culprits are: water consumption and meal timing.

I love to eat my lunches around 1:30 - 2 because I'm one of these OCD people who once they are on task have trouble getting off task. Boys and girls, lunch is at 12:30 now. Same macros because I think they work for me and if anything my weight is down a bit. That is going on the watch list.

My water container has been 20oz (a styrofoam cup), and I get up to refill that sucker once and I do not on average drink all of that refill. Aside from gym time water bottle usage and dinner, this is the bulk of my quality water time. I got a 22oz water bottle for Christmas--unasked-for, mind you--and it's replacing the styrofoam. I think I will try 2 fills of this bottle per day, which does not include water from other sources, and see what that buys me. This is mainly a workday issue, on weekends I am surgically attached to a water receptacle.

Lunch-time0/18

Water0/18

Calories0

Sleep

EOY is a thing. Do the thing. Get ready for bed at 10:30PM, out bed at 5:05AM on lifting days and 6:30AM on non-lifting days. Waived on weekends.

Curfew: 0/19

Aikido

Aikido needs to become a priority if I plan to belt test in February. The first week the dojo is closed, but after that I will need to seriously commit to preparing for it. Or, you know, not. This might be the worst time ever to do a test. Not sure.

Shadow Aikido: 0/8

I have a friend whose bday is TODAY and funny story, ages ago we were having a lot to drink and she was talking about the curse of the post-holiday birthday and how no one ever wants to do anything on that day and why couldn't she have a summer birthday, etc

Tipsy as all heck, I put her birthday in my phone as 7/3, I guess to pretend she had a summer birthday with her, and since we weren't sober, neither of us remembered this until 7/3, when I texted her HAPPY BIRTHDAY totally believing it was her real birthday (trolled myself !)

Of course then I put her real birthday on my calendar so I also texted her today, at which point she announced that today is her second favorite birthday

ANYWAY

Thanks, guys. I too knew a guy who had his birthday on the 3rd and he hated it because it was the day we typically went back to school from the Christmas break. So yeah.

This is impossible for me to prove!  I never played or heard of that stupid zetamec arithmetic game when I was 10.  I have no idea if I was sharper with basic arithmetic as a 10 year old kid.

I believe I know a few more tricks today and most certainly I could type better on 10-key!

You got this! I can see how eating before the headache happens could have potentially fabulous results.

Well here we are again, January. Started it off with sub-freezing temperatures and a rather mediocre gym session--I mean, I put in the work, but it felt just terribad given the weights involved. It's so cold I have to take special measures to try to get my nose clear long enough to get to sleep. Can't wait for the cold snotty rain forecast next week. At least last night I got to sleep rather quickly.

The food and curfew rules began on the 3rd, and I nailed those. 2.5 bottles of water and lunchtime as mandated. Macros were pretty doggone good. I did not have nearly the head pain on average, but my workload was also lighter. My eyes didn't do that nighttime tired blur until most of the way home--normally it starts up at least halfway there (the commute home takes an hour, FYI). So something went right.

Speaking of how things are going, outside our department is a cluster farkle. Those guys are not ready and it is going to be a mad, mad scramble for them to get it done in time and I doubt a good time will be had by anyone, shortly. Fortunately we are a bubble of sanity in a world that is pandemonium (and I am trying to stay in that bubble, please dear God do not pop the bubble). Of course, we rely on the people who are backed up with other EOY work to do our stuff, too. To speak nothing of other promises that need to be kept and well, doesn't look good ATM. Also, what is a programming freeze? It's the MOST. WONDERFUL. TIME. OF THE YEAR.

I do, it's just a matter of focusing and spending my time like I do. Small detail.

One would think. I sadly do not engage in that pastime often enough.

EOY can dig a hole and go sit in it and die.  Srsly.

My boss decided - 3 days before 2018 - that we were going to switch the entire business to a new accounting firm for 2018.  [insert record scratch noise] MOST.  WONDERFUL.  ...... TIME???

WE ARE HASHTAG BLESSED

Speaking of work (and not hashtag stressed) I have to keep one of those big Nalgene water bottles on my desk at all times of else hydration is LOL nope.  It's hard to remember amidst the chaos that's for sure.  Sigh.

Also here's my favorite birthday meme:

You too? It must be something in the management's water, but ours love to change horses midstream every year 'round about this time. And not make the new processes/procedures clear. Or alternatively tell no one anything you can take to the bank about what this new normal is gonna look like. You know, options.

Yeah, I have a Lifefactory brand 22oz bottle now and I am hoping it will be sufficient motivation to bear out this whole water thing. Especially in the thick of winter when ice water is sinus death and I really am not wild about room temp waters.
