you PROBABLY won't die. we don't have AC in our house and I'm not dead yet. but this involves a lot of trees and ceiling fans.

I think it's safe to say that this is the most OHP I have ever done, ever. No regrets, it is the very best. At work I tore a billing statement apart, which is always cathartic and gets the monkey off my back until such time as....well, you know. Aikido was munetsuki techniques. One of them was gokyo which is everyone's favorite slam me face-first into the mat technique. Definitely. Traded pointers on gokyo to pointers on a revisit of how to do kaitenage on a non-attacking uke into a viable pin or escort position, so that was fun and definitely a first time I had a firm grasp on anything kaitenage without extensive practice and attention from Sensei.

No actual dairy involved, it's my Plan B for getting some of the bacteria you might find in yogurt and then retrying dairy, which I am probably going to end up trying. Or at least that is the fallback position.

And you are a little bit farther north than us lol. That might make a bit of a difference.

Sans AC our house can get to be 85 degrees if you are not parked under 2 fans.

It's that feel you get when you're in the middle of watching intense combat and then all of a sudden

NEXT TIME, ON DRAGON BALL Z.

The anticipation is so very real. So very.

Our AC has been slowly, slowly dying and we've kept it on life support since 2014, but the time is coming to pay the piper. Good news, we know it is about to go so GO GO MAGICAL SAVINGS TIME and we have enough savings that we could technically pay for the entire thing out of that. But I don't want to. It's called savings, not Blow Half of It At Once. I'm sure that's OCD of me, but I think we can either pay it all off or finance for a very small amount of money that will be offset by efficiency savings. Either way

Well then. You know the big thing that happened this day. Did I mention I'm supposed to remember to pack and ship a DVD box set some joker bought on Monday??

Do you know how hard that was to do on Tuesday, this day of my job offering????

....like, for real. Sheesh. But it's packed and in my car. That is hesitating to crank as of this day as well. Battery is on its way out, probably. That will be dealt with tomorrow morning, assuming it holds out that long. It had better. I need to throw someone, STAT.

We made a tentative plan to deal with shouldering the burden of the AC/heat pump combo replacement. Unless it dies for good in July, we are going to be fine. And I'm going to buy yogurt one more time and try it during the week, when my diet randomosity is at its lowest. Then I will fall back to the spiked water.

In other parts of the country, it might also be called Rainy Day Fund.  In your part of the country, it might be called Stupid Hot Day Fund.  If you are financing it and keeping the Stupid Hot Day Fund, what interest rate are they giving you?  You should find out - and make sure it's correct.

So $6000 at 6% per year (or 0.5% per month) for 60 months, I get.... $116.00 per month.  Your interest works out to $16.00 per month.

We can get a range of terms and no doubt the interest rate is hugely variable.

120         3

Only did squats because I got up late, was stressed, and it should be Shark Week but the damn things are AWOL ATM. Probably stress. I've only had a standard "gone in two weeks" kind of deal with an employer once before and it was with Walmart, so this is not something I have a lot of (positive) experience with. Two of my three bomb-drops were positive/uneventful. My functional manager and my contract company (who, if you're keeping score at home, stands to lose money with my leaving) both took it well and were actually kinda happy for me.

Not so much with my "real" manager, who has been absentee from the scene for most of my time here post-old manager getting the ol' bump down into the trenches. I gave him my notice and he told me that just earlier he was talking with someone and he gave me a promise of a future offer of FTE. He then proceeded to tell me the things he thought were wrong with my performance (for the very first time ever, I don't even dispute them but I also do not care because it was self-preservation to avoid Certain People) and how that was going to make his case harder to get me FTE at this company. Then asked if I would take him up on that.

I told him that I'd already signed the papers with the other company and he said, too late huh? I said yeah, Company was too late. He corrected me, Parent Company was too late. I just sorta shrugged like DGAF.

We talked about some other stuff, but that was the money bit. I thought it was hilarious how he attempted that maneuver and at the end as he's opening the door tells me that he's sorry to see me go, that I held down this department so he didn't even have to think about it.

Just marinate on that for a bit.

Meanwhile, my husband is dealing with an AC repairman who arrived late, slowly futzed around for an hour, only to come down and tell him that he's out of Freon on his truck. We called the place explicitly to charge our unit as a patch to buy time to save money for a new unit. This joker tells us that the Freon would have cost us $800~ dollars, when two seasons ago it was $550 and we were quoted for the CHEAPEST AC/heat pump at over $8000 when the SAME company, who charged us the $550 quoted us at $6000 units. And this non-service cost us a service fee. Because of course it did.

We consulted family who called on our behalf to figure out how the Hell this disconnect occurred and the office claimed we were down for a regular servicing/cleaning and they would call us back to get it straightened out. Around 7:30 he got a call saying there was a service man from their company at the door. There was just one problem, we had lined up another company to do the work and consult for that very expensive appliance installation because we don't want none anymore. Hubs asked for a refund and the person on the phone couldn't make that call on her own, so we asked to be called back the next morning. So far we haven't gotten that call so as of this writing I put in a check stop for that shit because based on word on the street we don't trust this company to not just go right ahead and cash it. We'll call later and confirm that we yanked the money back vs never having cut an honest check in the first place.

Oh and throughout this my car is gradually struggling more and more to crank, the tags are due this month, and if I have another vet bill I will cry. You ever get the feeling you're hemorrhaging money?

Aikido did happen despite all of the above. Gokyo time + suwari waza niikyo (you could say we had some knee/ni time), which went well--nothing remarkable except I was doing shiko and lost balance and all my weight ended up on the side of one of my big toes. Toenail down, toenail down.

What is it with managers and stupidity? Did he honestly think he could manipulate you into staying? When you have a better job with better pay waiting for you? Wow.

My, but we do seem to mirror each other. We both have gotten outstanding good news, and yet our problems persist.

Our problems are very inconsiderate.

Like, right now, with the car repairs I need in order to get my car to pass inspection, I'm stuck living on $30/day, and that has to go for gas, food, cell phone, everything. I could fill up my gas tank today, but if I do that I won't be able to afford to eat.

Now I'm not trying to make this about me and my problems. The only thing I'm trying to do is let you know that you're not suffering alone with all this. But it won't last. You're gonna be okay. (which I know you know, but hey, never hurts to have a third party confirm, right?)

I...think he did? Was hoping I was either stupid or weak, one. I also told him there was a side hustle going on in the department and apparently he got "the pitch" as well. Apparently he thought it was amusing. He doesn't know I'm getting more money, but that's okay he doesn't need to know.

We definitely are not that strapped yet, but it's getting well out of my comfort zone of just assuming we'll have the budget for the bills, for sure. Which is part of why we're trying to ensure we don't have to pay for the AC "service" yesterday. It's not crippling amounts of cash, but all these small amounts of money leaving our account are like being bled to death slowly.

So the AC guy tried to scam us by $680 for the Freon recharge and $2500 for a new AC system, which he was trying to push despite my husband noooooot wanting to part with thousands that day. We know this because a second company came out and inspected our situation and we now have a cool house for that much less dinero. We did the check stop and negotiated down from $130 to $40 for the cleaning that the tech actually in fact did. At the very same time, I came back from the mailbox with a refund check for $40 from Mike's CWOT doc appointment so WE AREN'T EVEN PAYING THEM. Sweet roller-coaster from/to Hell.

Between this and the work drama and having to get the battery on my car replaced, I am a little cranky, gang. On the plus? side, we can potentially have the stitches out of Harley and be done with that little nightmare for good. I'm going to write off all abnormal gastrointestinal and gym performance behavior for the week because STRESS.

Also worth noting is I prodded Mike into calling them back and informing them that we stopped the check and he picked up steam as the conversation went with the AC office and reported their tech for scammery, so we might have performed a Public Service and/or saved the company from a bad reputation that it turns out they have for this kind of thing. Or else they're all scumbags because the lady was surprised and said this was one of their best techs. Not Sure How to Take That.
