Jord
CAN WE EAT IN PEACE. I assume your co-worker was also a bully as a kid. I once posted on facebook something like this, "As kids they taught us about the peer pressure of drugs, but no one prepares you for the peer pressure of cake at the office birthday gathering." This is like that but in a different way. I brought mac and cheese on Monday and a female co-worker said to me "oh someone brought comfort food today" and I wanted to be like "bitch, do you even lift?" which I think is gonna be my new tactic but in better terms like "Oh, do you lift weights too?". Even if the response doesn't make any sense in relation to the comment. 5 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment

ixaera
I have lucked out with my current work environment. ZERO people judge me when i bring out the M&Ms or a giant face-sized cookie, even after I have said stuff out loud about doing Whole 30 (so no, "off the wagon" comments, because they have no way of knowing when it ended). Hasn't always been that way, though. Last workplace I was still struggling with eating (was overweight and always dieting for like 10 years, this was part of those 10 years) and people would say "oh is that good on your diet?" whenever I ate ANYTHING that wasn't a lean cuisine or, like, a pickle. sigh. The two workplaces before that it was the opposite--you'd get the shamestick if you skipped out on the goodies from the events downstairs or the donuts so and so brought, or if you didn't want in on the pizza delivery at my first IT job. "LOL WHY TRY" is what I literally got there (I gained a solid 15 lbs in that 7 months I worked there). People LOVE to meddle and almost none of them have the data to do so at all, even if it weren't rude as hell. I don't have any good pre-loaded responses anymore b/c of aforementioned lucky environment, but... oy. Good luck not just, I don't know, I don't know what the hell I'd do. Continue to eat in front of them, I guess. Maybe flex at them and grunt through the crumbs. 4 Quote Link to comment

I am too conflict-averse. I thus far have been opting for obtuse responses that do not accept the implied premise, much less help it along. Case in point, the interaction I just had yesterday. Offender points out the obvious (I have chips), I agree. He utters a sentence that is vaguely hinting at a point that makes an accusation (that I'm eating crap). I respond with something so obtuse that deliberately fails to legitimize his implied accusation (yup, those chips) and thus renders him in the awkward position of either attempting to deliver the barb again or leaving. If he fails to get the message I may have to do something like what I did with my anti-bagel coworker. 10 minutes ago, Taddea Zhaan said: Oooo I like this. Urgan
4/21/2017 Some things we just don't aspire to be, kiddo Lift Recover Mag Supp - 16/28 Aikido Bokken - 3/4 Words Writing - 2.5/4 1. Survive to see Friday evening. 2. Go to the gym on Friday morning like I stick to commitments or something. 3. Write something before 7:30 on Sunday. 4. Follow up with recruiter. So, I did go to the gym on Friday and I'm typing this now, so that makes 1 and 2 DONE. When I arrived at the gym, I was confronted with two occupied squat racks, which would be normal and unremarkable except one was blocked by a dude who had the bar on the pins with 3 plates on each side. He was nowhere to be found for a bit, but he appeared, did some shrugs with the bar, then picked up a big dumbbell and...took it away. Like, he walked 'round the corner and disappeared for several minutes. Then he'd come back and do a few more shrugs. Lather, rinse repeat. I got really REALLY annoyed very quickly, took a bench, put it by the loaded bar and rack, and waited. When he eventually returned, I didn't have to say anything, he said he had two more sets to go. Luckily, the other guy, who was using the other rack correctly*, finished first and I did my OHP sets. *Actually, HE wasn't Doing It Right, either. To start a set of squats, he backed into the bar to unrack it and stepped back to rerack it when he was done. I know the mirrors are annoying, but.... While I was doing my OHP, a girl showed up and asked me if the rack with the still loaded bar was available--oh, that's right, he started doing some cable-related exercise while I was doing my sets, I discovered when I looked around. The rat bastard waved it off saying she could have the bar he CBF to unload of its lone pair of 45s, because at one point he'd removed some plates. Now let me take a moment to talk about this girl. She made the questionable choice of wearing a skin-tone pair of spandex shorts with at best a thong on to do squats. I had to be careful where I looked between my DB bench sets, lest I get an impromptu anatomy lesson. It's just WAY too early in the morning for this shit, guys. The most exciting parts of the rest of the day were I got Chick-fil-A after the gym and at one point a server decided to go AWOL for a bit. Considering what the gym classified as "exciting," this is welcome news. Work was slow, in a word. So was the drive home, whee 3 lane parking lot! Short distance dedication to the guy walking along the side of Hellz Own Road with a tattoo on his lumbar that looked like he back rolled into a red-hot chain link fence. I'm sure that's what he was going for. Yup, done with this week for sure.
