Allow program to evolve, study with trainer and all the nerds. Take fucking selfies. +4WIS +2CHA TLDR Diamond Challenge: Spoiler Okay, long awaited 20 seconds of courage. So... I've been a closeted theater nerd for a long long time, and, like so many things (like lifting), just assumed it was something I couldn't do. I did do a bunch of musicals and stuff like that when I was younger, and played classical piano for about 15 years. TERRIBLE STAGE FRIGHT. Anytime I was on stage I shook from head to toe. I also went to a specialty high school in Manhattan that focused on the arts. (The Fame school if you're of that generation ) I was too scared to audition for music or acting, so I went for fine arts, which is where I stayed. Being around working actors on a day to day basis just confirmed that it was not something I could do. I wasn't pretty enough. I was tall enough. Apparently, in past five years, (especially from teaching Kung Fu), it seems I now have a knack for public speaking. I found that cool gig doing the painting parties - 50% painting instruction 50% improv comedy. I dig it. I do a weekly comedy based podcast with the man. I can command a room and I enjoy it. I want to do it more. So... if you read my last thread I mentioned a walk on role I was up for, a crappy but well produced web series. Well, the role is mine if the character doesn't get cut! (Which it might, according to the production team, but whatever.) Okay cool. Biggest problem? I'm super insecure about how I look in photos. I don't have the worst body image IRL, but photos always look messed up to me. Screen is going to be hard for me to handle, and I want to get past that so I can do more fun stuff. Also I'll need head shots. Fucking. Head shots. :X So after all this, I don't know if acting is necessarily for me, maybe I just want to be in the theater painting sets and sewing costumes, but I figure I should at least give myself the chance to find out. And I'm not looking at some weird lofty celebrity ideas, I just want to have some fun with it and conquer my stage fright once and for all. A friend of mine suggested going out for some community theater and after some looking around I found a role I'm good for and have auditions coming up at the end of June. So that's it! Lights, camera... selfies Warning: there will be selfies. Spoiler Zero Week mini-challenges: 1. Journal 10 minutes everyday + .25 WIS FAIL 2/5 days 2. RedStone
ZERO WEEK day 1 Met with trainer to talk, I think we're gonna get along just fine. They gave me him for a reason - free weight advocate, self proclaimed form nazi, and I think I detected an under current note of encouragement for competition. (NOT something I'm thinking about now, but still, that's cool.) He's in full support of me working up the big lifts. Meeting Weds for first of three short sessions to look at form and talk program writing. Looking forward to it. RedStone
Oh, and while I was at the bench, an older woman struck up a conversation with me, and told me I shouldn't be arching my back during bench. I'm impressed that you made those jumps in weight! I don't think there is harm, just know you wouldn't be able to sustain 10# increases every time so don't be hard on yourself when progress slows, because that is normal. I think the farmers carries are definitely helping with my grip. I have been doing them 1x week and I noticed my grip improve on them and on deadlifts each week. I of course plan to increase my work with carries this challenge, looking forward to all da gripssss. 1 Quote Jǫrð, Delvian Nomad - Level 12 { Battle Log } Link to comment

One more night like that and I'll be gold! Got my journaling in last night, though I didn't feel the stream of consciousness like I should have typing it out instead of long hand. Going back to paper sometime this morning. Speaking of paper, I started my new Hello Kitty log book this week! Yeah, I'm okay with smaller bumps, just didn't realize what I was doing cause I'm a dope LOL. Yesterdays bench PR was thanks to some 2.5 plates, so all good! We'll see what happens going forward with the trainer, I'm a little nervous about him saying that I can do more, he kind of said something in those veins, but so far I trust him more or less, (he trains people in the weight room regularly, and I've been paying attention) and I trust myself to speak up if I'm having a problem, so I guess we'll see. Funny story about that actually - at first I was a little nervous about getting him because I've seen him work with these 2 women where it seems to be a chatathon and nothing really gets done. (I was prepared to explain that I can't talk while lifting etc), But when we were talking scheduling he wanted to make sure I was in a spot where we could go over time if needs be, and casually mentioned that it wouldn't be a problem to go directly after the mom and daughter team before me, who he doesn't really know what they're doing other than wasting his time. So I guess we're all on the same page with that... at least he gets paid for standing around, I wouldn't mind all that much Quote ~Peace Be The Journey~ one - two - three - four - five - six - seven- eight - nine - ten - eleven - twelve - thirteen - fourteen - fifteen - sixteen - seventeen - eighteen - nineteen - twenty - twenty one - twenty two - twenty three - twenty four - twenty five - twenty six - twenty seven - twenty eight - twenty nine - thirty - thirty one - thirty two - thirty three - thirty four - thirty five - thirty six Link to comment

Everything felt so hard! It's something you learn I think (I'm still working on it), and having a trainer there is a great opportunity because you can go all the way to failure safely and explore your limits. Eventually there was a reference to 35 pound plates and farmers walks for about 100 feet. So context. And deliberate attempt to misinterpret. My best execution was at the meet last week, where a girl and her bf / handler asked me to tape her bench press. I got a name and asked what she was lifting so I had some idea how far away her lift was. She said 137. I looked at her and my jaw hit the floor. kg? She said, "HA! I wish!
