UPDATE!!!  Now with actual goals!! :D

 

MY LIFE IS CRAZY THIS WEEK and I will write the actual text of this as I think of it/have time. Consider me a place holder!!! :D

 

WOO WOO go go endless dance rehearsals!  Show opens on Friday and I am in...13? pieces or so. We have rehearsed 22 hours in the last 3 days and I anticipate we rehearse from 5pm to 1am daily now through Thursday.  I also have a 45 second or so costume change from a GoGo outfit into a layered rock n roll badass outfit with 2 shirts, a skirt AND stockings I need to attach to garters sooo MY LIFE YOU GUYS.  BUT I LOVES ITTT!

GOALS

This challenge will focus on regrouping and getting back to old habits since I had to cut out pretty much everything except dance for this show (stupid human bodies and their limits!!)

 

Goal 1: HANG-ten, man! --  I have spent barely any time hanging from things this past month -- aerial OR pull up/chin up work. UGH. I bet my gains I was making are like LOL NOPE now. I would like to hang from things at least 3x per week.

 

Goal 2: Don't PUSH me, brah! --  My push up work has been not quite as neglected as hanging (easier to bust out a random push up mid rehearsal since it requires no equipment), but I still have not been doing enough dedicated push work! I would like to work push ups at least 3x per week! (Burpees also count for this since I do burpee push ups. And I still have a TON of those I owe for money spent on clothing and then I couldn't do any of them without jeopardizing my ability to be useful at rehearsal..woops...)

 

Goal 3: LIFT ALL THE THINGS! -- I really wish I could fit this in more per week, but I really am enjoying working with a trainer to give me active feedback on this because it's so new to me and I want to REALLY nail my form!  Since trainer is expensiiiive I would like to work powerlifting once per week with trainer! (since my bodyweight push/pull work also works some of the same muscles I am still noticing gains in spite of only doing this once per week. Woot woot.)

 

Goal 4: RUN AWAAAAAAAY! -- I haven't been able to run or hike because yeah dance = impact all the time. I want to either run or hike once a week (or both!!) For a run any length counts because my body is NOT used to that shit anymore and I will have to rebuild. For hiking I don't count it unless it is at least a 3-4 hour hike.

 

I feel like there was a 5th goal I had in mind but I can't remember right now sooo....

SO CLOSE TO THIS SHOW YOU GUYS AAAAAAH.

 

I am most stressed about getting the Go Go opening number PERFECT. I keep fucking up the timing on one turn but otherwise I have it down....

 

Also the closing number is a total mess because the spacing did not translate well to the stage soooo we have that to fix tonight and then DRESS REHEARSAL IS TOMORROW WHAT?! Not to mention we haven't been able to tech a bunch of the transitions/ we have to figure out how things work with actually running the fly reel stuff we have + the projections we have running in a few numbers. SO CLOSE...yet so much work to do today!

 

Also. I miss sleep.

 

Also it is only Wednesday and it feels like it has been a week since I posted this on Monday!

Oh boy! Last night was a long one.... mostly due to technical issues and needing to rerun cues until the techs had it right so...yay for us?  Not that we didnt have shit to fix still! 

 

We were there until almost 1 am and with time for me to eat and wash my dance undergarments before going to bed I didn't get to sleep until almost 2..... I decided to sleep in a bit and come in late to work but I am still le tired.

 

I fixed the timing on the turn I screwed up....but then accidentally messed up timing on a part I never mess up instead. ARGH. Admittedly it was our first time doing this piece in our actual costumes and going from flats to 2" gogo boots felt WAAAAAAY different. I'd like to get in some extra rehearsal time in those shoes but when that would happen I don't know.....

That wasn't even out dress! That was last night..and had yet even MORE fails than the run through the night before, which I was happy about because YES bad dress is good luck I think!

 

Some things that went wrong: didn't make my first quick change, my dance partner didn't knock me over when he was supposed to -- at all, like was multiple feet away from me so I couldn't fake that he'd done it (funniest moment in that piece by far is I get knocked over and then try to pretend like I meant to do that by sexy crawling out of it hahahaha), the "dad" character forgot his entrance so I just had to walk towards where he was supposed to be and hope he showed up (the mom character realized and shoved him out last second at least!), in the opening not just one but TWO people completely didn't take their ironing board props off the stage and we couldn't bring out the bed for the next scene, I accidentally was a bit too vigorous helping someone up and threw her into the path of where someone else was supposed to tumble so said person did not do the tumble.....

 

....I am sure there were more things but that's a short list!!! She made us run the entire show a second time before we were allowed to go home and everything was fixed except the quick change thing since we were running without costumes soooo... I think I have my quick change problem figured out by layering multiple costumes under my go go dress. Woohoo 40 second quick change!

Also, I actually get free time tomorrow. FREE TIME. AND SLEEP. ALL THE SLEEP!!! (Call is 5pm and I have no plans during the day other than lifting appt with my trainer in the LATE morning because I WANT SLEEP.)

 

Also, oww shin splints. I'm actually surprised it took this long for me to get them. All the ibuprofen for me! (I pretty much expect to have shin splints by tech week of a dance show or I am not working hard enough!)

Still so freaking sore and tired and have not been able to get in another workout. My leg doms are chilling out a little bit but I the rest of my body is still DOMS-y as hell. I woke up in the middle of the night with obnoxious back DOMS that kept me from going back to sleep. Dance. It's a full body workout ya'll! 

 

I'm going to try to get in some stretching tonight and also some super easy strength work (I.E. hanging from my pull up bar but not really doing anything else. No pull, no inversions, just hanging!)

It's almost like asking your body to do high intensity movements with weird posture combined to cause pain :P So yes it's your fault. But no, it's not your fault :P

I am feeling more recovered ish than earlier in the week, but still more sore and tired than I would like to be to start actually doing any more rigorous training! I've done a few lunch walks at a moderate pace (very much in the easy for me range of things) and a light and easy modern class last night, but that's about it so far for this week, and I don't think I feel up to speed to be doing more than that just yet.

 

I am going to consider my goals successful for the week though, as I am doing what I need to be doing for my body at this given moment! Recovery is important, ya'll!  My goals for this weekend are SLEEP SLEEP MORE SLEEP.

It just occurred to me am supposed to have DDR plans with a friend on Sunday. Wondering about the wisdom of scheduling this a mere week after my show! Woops!
 

The friend I DDR with already made plans for us to go hang out with other friends and DDR so I don't want to cancel. If all else fails I guess I am playing everything on easy for me settings and it'll be like walking DDR instead of running jumping levels of activity DDR!! The socializing aspect will still be fun. :)

You could always play the Judge and say that the game grades their stepping style but you're there to make sure they have their GAME FACE on. :P

Oh man, I haven't done DDR in yearssss! That was always so awesome and so exhausting! I'm jealous, I might have to find someone with the pads so I can play, though I was never that good. I hope the recovery is going well!

My friend I play with is stupidly good. Like has put in tons more hours being able to do the ridiculous 15+ foot songs and shit good. I'm like NOPE not willing to practice that much! I am happy with being able to do 8-9 foot ish difficulty. Reconnecting with said friend is the only reason I'm playing again (he posted a picture that he had bought one of the metal ones that looks like someone ripped it off the machine. I had to hit him up to play, obviously!!!)
