Harry potter world madness! I tried the butterbeers (cold one is definitely better than frozen and they only have hot ones in the winter :() I had Cornish pasties and fizzing wizbees and clotted cream ice cream (twice, ‘cause damnnnn) and black sausage (which might have been blood sausage but not sure since I’ve never tried it before). Walked 39.41 miles over the four days and actually got one workout in!

The fitness center at the hotel was pretty amazing and was basically a Jack Lalanne museum. They were even playing his workout shows and supplied similar chairs so you can follow along.

 

It was super fun and I didn’t track food and I’m sure I gained a million pounds but I haven’t weighed myself yet – why do that to myself?! I got back on track yesterday and will hope for a semi-okay weigh in on Saturday.

Whooo! Harry Potter funland!  I want to eat everything you listed up there, it sounds pretty amazing  to me. 

 

It's always great when you walk into a hotel gym and it turns out to be a nice gym.  That one sounds pretty sweet.  And now that you mention it, I feel like a Jack Lalaine museum should be a gym.

I'm always wary of putting my hands directly on the ground, either at work or the gym. Like when I see people bust out push-ups in the middle of the freeweight area on the floor I'm like, ew, bacteria? So are you doing planks on the floor at work? You are braver than me!

 

Have you done barbell rows yet? I'm curious because i still do DB rows and I am hesitant to start barbell for two reasons: 1) more form to learn to protect my back and 2) more fighting for barbell access. 

 

Last question. Do you do incline pushups off a bench?

ohHAIIII!! missed you :D the food was pretty wonderful and included many more things

 

and ya, this gym was pretty nuts. the below pic is just the free weights area. there were a million cardio and weight machines too! can you spot Jack on the TV with the chairs set up?!

nope i just put my hands right on the ground haha! it builds up my immune system? i'm really good about washing my hands constantly though. our work floor is carpeted but probably still full of bacteria.

 

i actually usually do barbell rows but they only had curl bars at the hotel gym. i was a little weird with the first few DB rows b/c i tend to go past what the typical ROM should be (and the ends of the DBs hit my boobs). i dont usually have an issue with barbell access at my gym, but i go at 5am. and i check myself out in the mirror sideways to make sure my back is flat!

 

and yep! i usually do pushups on a bench. the hotel gym workout was on one of Jack's chairs :D

W1D2 – Monday

 

no workout since we got home at 2am. My feet/calves were super swollen yesterday from all the walking and the flight but are feeling better today. Compression socks or legging are supposed to help that right? I should get some before Europe trip.

 

I did partake in the at-work things.

totally forgot to do mobility last night. Was doing weekly food prep: chicken sausage/egg casserole; salsa chicken thighs; and a big batch of green smoothie. First time making a veggie prominent smoothie and it’s actually not bad.

Count me in the gross people who just put my hands on the floor!  I do at the gym and at work. I always wash my after my workout and it's so gross how the soapy water is actually a blackish color.  But it's nice to see because 1. yay for clean hands. 2. good reminder to ALWAYS wash my hands.

Me too re: washing my hands. I think it's the actual bars that are typically dirty/greasy though, not necessarily the floor.

haha! i really just finished the leg that i had been halfway through and then abzzzz. but you know what, you're right because as i was kneeling there, unable to get up it was pretty demoralizing almost to the point of tears. so yay! thanks! i did it! 

 

yes! i need to catch up on your thread but you're doing rucking goodness this challenge right?? i'll be using an old backpack for now but hopefully will like it enough to invest in a good rucksack.

Ditto. The BF had an old backpack that I can use. There isn't much in the way of shoulder strap padding. So it will probably only do me for lightweight rucking. I'm planning to take it for a whirl on Friday. It has basically been raining/storming all week and will be both today and Thursday.

you're right i diiiiid walk a lot and i probably ate the same amount as usual.. BUT all the liquid calories. i bet a butterbeer is 500 at least and then many boozy beverages. i did often sub out any juices in a mixed drink for soda water and created some great concoctions. it got me funny looks from the bartenders, but they were good! and plenty sweet with things like triple sec, etc. in it. my friends said i should start a drink blog where i tell people what to order when traveling to different places! hahaha

thank youuu! can't believe it's been 6 years. hahaha you're right that i was doing a bunch of squatting. not a ton of sets per each though so it's usually fine! just a poor combo with other life things :D
