Here we will test the limits of my creative prowess by doing the same-old same-old copy and paste the last Challenge and change up just enough things to make it possibly pass for unique! In the April Challenge, we ran some Evil Bulgarian XCOMmie Program in preparation for a meet on April 23. April 23 came and went. We did battle and survived! The numbers were: Body Weight 90.5 kg Squat 155 kg for a PR Bench Press 85 kg for a bad shoulder that is currently held together with duct tape Deadlift 217.5 kg for a PR Total 457.5 kg for a PR notwithstanding the bad shoulder Now we are putting away PL and taking up WL. The next meets are: May 21: Signed up and preparing. The objective will be to put up some numbers. Of course! June 18: Need to sign up! Soon! The objective will be to build on those numbers. Of course! Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth in 1999, there is some unfinished business. Therefore we are reusing the previous month's Challenge and most of the previous month's goals. Once again, we are XCOMmies! So here it goes: A. Building the Bases. This is where everything starts. Choose a location and start building up the base. Normally I choose Switzerland, but to honor all the evil exercises and training programs that originate from Bulgaria, I will locate the first base in Bulgaria. Goal 1: Follow BEBOP - Broki's Evil Bulgarian Olympic Program Here is what it looks like: Quote Day One: Muscle Snatch Triples until out of ammo. Power Snatch Triples until out of ammo. 5 Power Clean Triples 5x5 High Bar Squats 5x5 Push Press 5x5 Rows Day Two: 10 Snatch Doubles 10 Clean and Jerk Doubles 5x5 Snatch Pulls 5x5 Clean Pulls 4 Front-Squat Doubles Day Three: 5x5 Snatch Pulls 5x5 Clean Pulls 5x5 High Bar Squats, first two sets paused 5 Split Jerk Triples 3x5 Overhead Press 5x5 Rows Day 4: 6 Muscle Snatch + Balance 10 Snatche Singles 10 Clean and Jerk Singles 8 Front-Squat Doubles 5 Clean Pull Triples Day 5: 5 Power Snatch Doubles 5 Power Clean Doubles 5x5 High Bar Squats 5x5 Dumbbell Push Press 5x5 Dumbbell Rows Day 6: 10 Snatch Singles 10 Clean and Jerk Singles 3 Front-Squat Triples 4 Clean Pull Triples Lunges Day 7: Rest and praise the LORD! (...wait a minute - we are XCOMmies here!) Some days are a little bit shortened due to time constraints. B. The base comes with some radar to detect UFO’s. There is also a graphing tool to measure Alien activity in different parts of the world to give some idea where the action is. The next thing to do is detect a UFO and track it. So….. Goal 2: Continue tracking Macros and Weight. C. We also have Interceptors to send after the UFO we do find. They are the very best the world can produce with top-secret technology that might as well be shared because – What the heck, we are all being invaded. We shoot it down and send a Sky-Ranger and our XCOMmies after the wreckage and battle it out with the Aliens and take home the loot. If we are really bold, we can go after one that is intact and landed on the ground. So here is where we do Battle like honorable Warriors! Goal 3: Do Battle! Put up Numbers! Currently I do not know what my lifts are going to look like because it is very early in the game. I think I can do: Snatch 50 / 60 / 65 kg Clean and Jerk 60 / 70 / 80 kg These numbers might go up with a few weeks of pure work. Broki thinks so. D. In battle, the game is very unforgiving if you are stupid. Sometimes it is unforgiving if you are not stupid. It is painful to watch people play stupid on Let’s Play. So be careful. Advance slowly. Look around corners because they like to hide around corners. Keep the soldiers healthy. Try not to get shot. Certainly don’t get bombed. (Getting hit by an Alien Grenade or a Blaster Bomb just sucks.) Goal 4: Stay Healthy! Time will tell if weightlifting is easier on my shoulders than Bench Pressing. We will be quite a few more weeks without any Bench Presses in the program. It no longer makes sense to measure shoulder condition based on Bench Press, so we have two new measures: Overhead Press pounds x (0.96 + 0.03 x Reps + 0.01 x Sets) expressed as a percentage of 150 pounds = Shoulder Condition. This will be measured shortly. Push Press pounds x (0.96 + 0.03 x Reps + 0.01 x Sets) expressed as a percentage of 200 pounds = Shoulder Condition. This last clocked in at 54%. E. Our Base also has a team of the world’s best Scientists to research new projects and Engineers to produce cool new toys for our XCOMmies on the field. Personally, I like to go straight down the Laser Weapons line, because Laser weapons are good in the early game and there is an exploit to produce Laser Cannons and make tons of money to fund more Bases around the world. Then we will develop Motion Scanners because they are handy and Medikits because they will become handy once our brave XCOMmies can actually survive a shot from the Alien bad guys. F. AAR's are fun! So play along and.... Goal 5: Adopt an XCOMmie! Bahahahahaha!!!!!!! In XCOMmie countries you have no choice! An XCOMmie soldier will be chosen for you and given an appropriate XCOMmie name! Try not to get killed out there! Goal 6: If he dies, he dies! Play through the darned game. Respawns allowed. Will keep track of deaths. Maybe even a little honor for the top three males and top three females whose adopted XCOMmies died the most in a future Challenge. Today was BEBOP. Week 2. Day 3. Front Squats: 5x44 pound empty bar Doubles with 134 and 184 pounds 8 Doubles with 224 pounds Clean Pulls: 5 Triples with 224 pounds - Gotta remember these are not deadlifts. x.x Jerks: Triples with 44, 94, and 114 pounds Triples with 134, 139, 144, 149, and 154 pounds The big issue is learning how to avoid pressing it out. I was cued down slow. Up slow. Down fast. At the 114 set, I froze. Down slow. Up slow. How am I supposed to do this again? Try again. Down slow. Up slow. Blank. I could not believe it.
