Mystique (annyshay) Treats Herself to A New Identity

I have a fairly strong mental image of what a "treat" is.  I'm sure you have a similar one.  My current paradigm of a what a "treat" is does not serve my ultimate goals.  The hope this challenge is to replace my mental image of a Hobbit Treat with THIS...

Main Quest - Be awesome (resilient and radiant), so that I can love and serve others.

 

I've been with NF a long, long time through ups and downs.  Many of you have walked with me through them, and I appreciate your support and friendship more than I can say.  The Rebellion is my fellowship and I would not still be walking the path to awesome without you.  I continue to struggle with healthy food choices, self love, and consistency especially when my work gets stressful (frequently); but I am slowly noticing that my mind, body, and habits are changing for the better.  I am in this for the long haul, so I will continue my slow and (not always) steady progress.  You are more than welcome to join me!

 

Goals to come.  Much like a Wizard, my goals arrive precisely when they mean to. ;)

Did you see the Assassin's mini?  No?  It's amazing.  Go check it out.  No seriously, go.  This is exactly why I love my guild (and GLs!!!) so much.  We push each other on to greatness.  I was stalling on my goals, but I picked my superpowers for the mini with ease.  Now my identity has become clear.  I am Mystique, the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants!

 

 

So, here are my goals superpowers unabashedly lifted directly from the mini...

 

Shapeshifting = "Want to change your shape at will like Mystique?  Those training their Shapeshifting skills are training their mobility and flexibility.  Standard mobility training falls here, along with yoga, contortion training, and even dance. "

"

Welcome back!  No worries.  You were super busy being a gymnastic badass despite lots of annoying injuries. :)

Hehehe... this week's timing is NOT perfect.  Everybody at work and outside work is having catastrophes.  Emotional Chaos.  I keep taking deep breaths, but I'm glad it's zero week and the points don't matter. ;)

You know it took my ages to figure out that "treatment" includes "treat" as in "a treat" :D I'm a healing practitioner along with spiritual teacher and always felt if insurance doesn't pay for my treatments for people (they have to pay privately instead) at least I should offer things that feel good and then it made total sense: to have somebody give your body (and/or mind and soul) kind attention IS  a treat, no wonder it's called treatment!

 

You are handing out treats left and right, every single day. High time you give yourself enough :)

This may not be what your aiming for but this is what I'm trying to do.  

 

1. Make a list of non-food rewards.  I honestly only came up with a couple that I find as satisfying as chocolate.  For me it's playing my video game, reading in bed and shopping for something fun like a new book or art supplies.

 

2. Find lower calorie treats. I have a chocolate tea that I save for stressful days. I also keep really, really dark chocolate around.  I also happen to love a certain Greek yogurt and it truly is a treat when I have it.

 

3. I have to remind myself that the point of the treat is to feel better.  One cookie, eaten mindfully is a treat but 5 just makes me feel like crap (both physically and mentally).  

 

4. Also remind myself that a treat is something I enjoy ocassionally.  If I'm "treating myself" regularly then it really isn't a treat anymore, it's just a bad habit.  

 

Not it sure if all that makes any sense!  Its something I'm still working on.

I tried to learn swing dancing in med school and put a little bit too much pressure on myself.  Lately, I've been trying to approach it much more from the acquiring skills and having fun in the process that is so prevalent in the Rebellion.  I've been taking classes for about a half year at Uptown Swing, as you guys know.  I love it.  Last night is the first big social dance I've gone to by myself in the Twin Cities.  Before I left I had all the typical middle school dance anxieties about being lame and nobody wanting to dance with me.  I got there on time, which is apparently ridiculously early... so I walked to a bookstore down the street and spent some time in my comfort zone.  When I walked back things were starting to get going. There was a DJ for times when the band (South Side Aces - New Orleans style jazz) was taking a break, but otherwise we had amazing live jazz to dance along with or enjoying with a drink of water and rest.  I danced every few songs.  I invited at least three guys to dance (one of whom I'd never met before!!!).  I was asked by a few guys as well.  I even danced once front and center in front of the band.  Plus, there was a sweet balcony to watch the performances or general dancing.

I'm still working on finalizing my goals for this challenge... but I think Lindy needs to be woven in there. :D  Thanks for the support, ladies!

Sounds like a really wonderful time.  Once you start to dance do you feel your confidence go up?
