Even if you don't believe in gluten-free and that kind of thing, bread is hardly better in soda. The whole reason we fortify flour is because it has no nutrients of its own. Sometimes this being healthy as a lifestyle means we have to adapt and make the best choice for the time during circumstances. Sounds like you did a good job on choosing to focus on movement, and let the eating slack. But now you body know what to do. I like these wraps made of coconut for a healthier alternative to bread. Thanks! It's been a really helpful quest for me. And not soapboxy, I completely agree. I didn't really realize how difficult it would be before they came, so I didn't have a plan for how to deal with it. AthenaMM Posted June 4, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 4, 2016 Day 27 - Friday June 3, 2016 I worked on getting things back on track today, but didn't totally succeed. But I ate a lot more veggies than I've gotten in the last week or so, so I feel better. Quest 1: Ran 1.7 miles. This was a little easier than it has been. It was still tough, but there wasn't a point where I didn't think I could keep going like there has been. Quest 2: No bread today, but I ate a late snack and wasn't particularly hungry for dinner. I ate anyway since I try to only eat between 11 am and 7 pm and I would be very hangry by 11 tomorrow if I didn't eat dinner. It wasn't a good plan though and I overate. Breakfast: 3/6 Lunch: 3/5 Snack: 3/6 Dinner: 4/7 Quest 3: I have over 12,000 steps right now. Life Quest: No tossed produce. AthenaMM Posted June 5, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 5, 2016 Day 28 - Saturday June 4, 2016 One of my quads is still hurting and I think it's a strain instead of normal DOMS. It isn't worse when I've been sitting for a while and it doesn't get better when I get up and move around. It isn't too bad, but I didn't want to make it worse so I left the squats off the workout today. When I started doing the forearm straight leg raises it caused the quad to hurt as well, so I changed to knee raises. Quest 1: Startbodyweight.com, 3 sets, 1:30 minutes rest between sets Incline Pike Push-ups 7,7,6 Forearm Knee Raises 8,8,8 Bent Knee Bench Dips 8,8,7 Side Planks 29 sec on each side Quest 2: Had a little bread with dinner Breakfast: 2/6 Lunch: 3/6 Snack: 3/5 Dinner: 3/6 Quest 3: Over 11,000 steps right now. Life Quest: Finally tossed the rest of the cooked broccoli that no one ate. There wasn't much so it was probably about 1/8 of the broccoli. AthenaMM Posted June 5, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 5, 2016 Week 4 Summary This challenge went pretty well even with my parents being here for a week and a half of it. The eating part didn't go as well as the rest, but I'm still pleased with my results. Usually I would have let everything slide while they were here, but I got in all my exercise and plenty of steps. That is a big improvement! I'm already coming up with ideas for how to eat healthier when they're here next time. Quest 1: I exercised every day (28) and did 8 strength workouts and 4 runs. That's an A for this quest. Quest 2: I used 23 bread variances so a definite F here. I ate within my ratings 87.8% of the time so this is a B. Average those and it's a D for this quest. I could have done better sticking to my ratings especially since a lot of this was before and after the parent visit. Quest 3: My current step average for the last 4 weeks is over 11,000 steps, so I definitely met my goal here and I guess I'll up my goal to 11,000 next time. An A for this quest. Life Quest: I threw away 6.8% of the produce I bought so well within the 10%. I bought very little produce for when my parents were here because I knew we wouldn't use it.
