Welcome back to The Loft!  A fun little space where we can share our love of creativity and help inspire each other to keep pursuing our passions.  Whether you're a hobbyist, full time artists/writer/crafter or simply curious and wanting to get started, this is an awesome group for you!

 

We had a lot of fun last time and I was really excited about how much interaction, activity and discussion we were having!  I'm really happy that so many people had a good time with this group and I hope to keep that momentum going as we move onto the next challenge!  I plan on using this thread not just to share art (though please if you have any art, writing, photos, videos, etc that you want to share, they are more than welcome here), but also to share tips and tricks, pose some topics, and just overall have a great time.  We are here to level up every aspect of our lives, especially our passions!

Weeeeee! happy new 4wc everyone! good to see y'all are back.

 

Lets get this party started, shall we? I'm going to start spamming my sketches right away. this is from last 3 days, and in case anyone is interested, the rest of the week is in my challenge thread (includding my very first attempt with inking one of my sketches)

 

So without further ado:

Today's drawing will be uploaded once I scan it at night... 

 

Also, in case anyone here knows enough spanish and feels like reading crappy fiction written by an amateur, I'm writing a story, post by post here:

Although continuing the story is a better explanation. It used to be an idea I had for NaNoWriMo 2014 which I never got to develop past the first 6 chapters or so... But I think there is something there worth trying, so I'm trying to at least post there from time to time (ideally twice a week, but once a week is ok too).

I'm making sure this is for any crafting or just drawing? Nobody wants to see anything I would sketch!

You'd be surprised... I'm always looking for sketches from newbies, to gather more info on how that compares with my own experience...

I'll speak for the rest of the group, but any creative activity is OK. (they better be, I intend on posting more than just drawings later this challenge)

Yesterday was not a very productive day, art-wise. Only this one, which is unfinished, as the lady got off the bus before I finished sketching her.

I wonder if there is a trick to gain speed while sketching... hmmm

I'm doing a drawing quest this time so I'll totally tag along.

 

I'm not sure about posting my drawings, I don't exactly have a scanner so it would just be pictures of my sketchbook at best, but I can try.

Post them! low quality photo of drawing is better than no photo if you ask me... and you can upgrade later.

Hey guys, I'm loving the idea of a crafts thread. I usually do more woodworking and crochet, but I'm getting married later this year and I am making a lot of the stuff for that. This weekend I started on the flowers. I'm pretty pleased so far but they are very time consuming

@erosan is correct!  This group is for any creative activity!  From drawing or painting to crafting or writing, this group for everyone is to share their particular passion and work from that passion!  I'm glad you're here @jmk!

Really like this profile!  Awesome line details and well done on capturing her expression!  There is a bit of a trick though it's mostly just practice; there are quite a few websites that offer times sketches and will show you a pose, face, animal, etc and you set the time limit you want for it.  I did this a few challenges back: http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/.  Check it out!

Thanks  actually aren't that difficult once you get the hang of it, just really repetitive and time consuming. Thinking of inviting over my crafty friends and starting a crafting chain to get them all done lol

That would be an awesome idea.  I remember for my wedding I had been doing my own wedding favors.  I'm not at all crafty so it wasn't anything amazing, but yeah it was time consuming and having a few friends to help really loosened up the monotony

Thanks for the tip! I do figure drawing from time to time, but maybe its time to focus my efforts a little?

 

I've seen that one before. I use the youtube videos from onairvideo called Croquis Cafe for my figure drawing exercises (mostly because its real time video footage of the model, instead of a static picture...) but this tool has a lot more flexibility. Will give it a try.

My Sunday night Star Wars game did not meet last night, nor will it this coming week.   I am going to use the downtime to try and get at least Cham's pic done and maybe start on Deem!   You guys poke at me if you don't see some WIPs.

 

And BT - last week must have been an anti-art week.  Srsly, it was in the air.

 

 

Phew, avoided poking for tonight.  First edit and ink of Cham.   Switched the leg up a bit.   Like it better than before.   Will stare at it again tomorrow to see what strikes me as off lol.   It's funny.   If not for the bottom leg, I'd be really really content with how this has turned out already, lol.

That reminds me: I really wanted to draw Luciana one day. (She's not only a nick. But also a DSA Charakter, I have been playing for three years.) When I started playing her, she was 15 and now she's 27. Soon she'll be older than me ^^. I also wanted to put some more Detail in her Background. So if I don't get any drawing done, I'll be at least writing something for fun.

Ooooh yeah!  Whether it's a pic or a background, you gotta share it with us!   I get so into my RPG characters, it's not even funny.   Sooo INTO.      What is DSA though?   I feel like I am losing nerd points for not knowing already.

google returned a fantasy rpg called Das Schwarze Auge, a german role playing game (the dark eye)... but no idea if that is the one.

Haha yeah, it is. But I'm writing it in German at the moment. I can give you one of my other characters, who I made for an English group.
