Levelling up in North East England (hopefully)

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

Another newbie here! I'm Amanda and I'm from the cold north east of England. I'm a 30 year old office worker and part of my work target is to be sat at my desk working for 90% of my day. Predictably this leads to a few extra pounds and snacking out of boredom on unhealthy things, the usual. I've spent a lot of time at work speaking to pensioners recently and it has frightened me. There are so many people in their 60s who are house bound and can't get around without help. I don't want to be that pensioner, I want to be the 65 year old who is running marathons! So I need to get my act together and give my body the best chance possible. Plus I'm going to be a bridesmaid in October and it never hurts to look good in a slinky dress, right?

I'm not technically fat according to my BMI, but I'm not toned, strong or remotely fit. I did my first body weight workout last night and only managed one circuit, eek! I actually could have done more squats I reckon, but my upper body strength is horrendous.

I don't have a plan yet. Continue with the body weight circuits I guess. There is a Body Pump class at my local gym I might join when I'm a bit fitter (weights to music). I have a dog so when walking him I might try stepping it up and doing a bit of running? I also quite fancy doing some rock climbing and a dance class. So I think I'll just play about with different things and see what I enjoy.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Looking forward to getting more involved around here.
